  1. So no one answered my question: how much money does UND have for NIL? What group, non-profit?, is advertising for and collecting funds?

The Minneapolis paper says PJFleck is looking for someone with $1M for the NIL fund for his new QB…whomever that will be. Other colleges are offering up to $2M for QBs.

So that is how NIL has changed college sports. Wonder why Tommy entered the transfer portal? Why Bison are entering it?

All this talk of new coaches, recruiting, and facilities needs $$$$$. Someone posted we need to clean house from the ground up. At first I was offended (somewhat). When I see these dollars floating around, I wonder.

  2. No way does this equate to a better education, IMHO

paid what they are worth? That is my issue…college sports are not professional

Also mid and small schools get totally left out

What is UND’s NIL account balance…I rest my case.

  3. Well, it seems that the transfer portal is getting very crowded…all colleges, all conferences. WOW I do not like the change in college football.

I also read some college football player turned down the NFL because he could get $5M in NIL money.

Add in the coaching changes ALL over the country and things could be considered a mess.

The 2024 season will be different, very different.

At the rate FCS is going we'll have U Mary and SD School of Mines competing for the title in Frisco.   No future in FCS any more.

    Transfer portal= free agent

    NIL=professional sports

No future for mid and smaller colleges in any sport, IMHO

LBs should be coached by someone who didn’t play D2 WR.

And not necessarily an inbred coach…..time for new blood? I can’t believe all the head and assistance coaches fired or poached in the last ? month or so.

  6. Well I listened to the game again…great announcers. Overall very disappointed but not sure who to blame….

we need a culture of winning not a culture of mediocrity. AD has to “grow a pair” like my cardiologist would say  after a meeting. Then it goes down the organizational chart, IMHO.

I believe it's closer to $75MM to $80MM.  Still quite astonishing that any one person is worth that dime.

I read the $125M in the paper….unbelievable. Also there were 3 coaches fired Sunday…2 head coaches and an OC. Can’t remember the schools

Nonsense. Doesn’t matter where they come from. Don’t limit the pool, cuz you may miss the right guy. When the time comes, one of the biggest issues is salaries for head coach and key assistants.

Agreed….miney talks and there have been some big salary increases and buy outs….BIG

    get the right guy…

  9. I don’t know the finer points of the game…listened on the radio because those guys are awesome. Do I think we could have won? YES

Is there really, really a need to offensive comments like bipolar and University of the Blind? No one in my circle of family and friends have either, by the grace of God.

I think GF, UND, and Sioux staff and fans are classier than stooping to that. Apologies accepted and let’s move on.

Saban has a set of clangers though. There’s a reason he’s built championship squads at multiple schools. Still salty he left LSU.

    Like my grandson says….MAN UP

Or the cardiologist I worked for…Grow a pair

I think you missed the point here. I’m not advocating for Dale to leave his position with the State Historical Society, but I am advocating for new leadership like what Dale brings to the table. Bubba just doesn’t have it. Nice guy, wish him the best, but my sources extend well beyond the numerous road debacles we witness on the field/television. Time to move on, several others agree, but I don’t know if the actual people making the decisions agree.

See my second post clarifying the statement. YOU missed the point. People who know more than me can evaluate coaches and rehire/replace. My point is that a first class, successful team needs MORE than coaching (but coaching comes first). The PER, media, fundraising and role in the community is a package deal we seem to be missing. It is very hard/impossible to focus on that after watching the game yesterday. But the program needs help. Start with coaching (the most important) but that  is not all we need.

So just accept that the status quo is as good as it will ever get? We are capable of so much more. We need to establish a Division I funding model that doesn't rely so much on 50/50 raffles and selling tickets to walk-up crowds on game day.

No, never accept mediocrity BUT the coaches coach and someone else needs to do PR and media. I do like their recent FB posts for the hype in the community. Is there no one on payroll or volunteers to do OR and marketing?
