  1. I just heard some sports broadcasters talking on the radio about what NIL has done to college ball. They were NOT impressed. I guess I am not either. That and the transfer portal has changed a lot of things about college sports.

Lets' hope.  But I want to see them not win the natty for two years in a row before I start getting too excited.  Should we beat them next fall........after losing yesterday.....that would be perfect.....they would totally be in full meltdown mode after that!

What a great goal to start the year off

  3. So very true but this is still an issue that needs AD and admin attention. Make changing the culture a priority, let Bubba and staff COACH, and get support (from many groyps public and private).

Offensive pieces are there.  SDSU played in space yesterday.  Got NDSUs safety’s and LBs out of position and didn’t tackle well.

Defensively need to address to DL/OLBs.  Both teams yesterday physically dominated us during the regular season and are the bar for winning championships.

My last takeaway is facilities matter.  SDSUs investments into facilities that match NDSUs aligns with their ascent to consistent on field performance.  Long process but they had a vision, found the financial support and executed.

My point exactly…TOTAL INVESTMENT. Define the vision and get behind it. Watching some Bison missed tackles yesterday seriously made me wonder if someone was paying them off. I mean the defense missed so many tackles.
What could we learn from that?

Tough OL…again what could we learn from that?

Total Bison frustration and breakdown in many areas when down…then the penalties started.  Again what could we learn from that? Maybe a culture of positivity? Teamwork under adversity?

Please get admin and AD behind this culture change.

Frisco businesses rejoice.  Less urine on their sidewalks and walls!

Ok…not the Jacks but maybe a Bison or two plus done crying in the beer photos would be great. Great game and thanks Jacks for bringing them down so well

  6. Half time HAPPY! At SNAP and on the treadmill. Usually I check the minutes frequently. I can’t take my eyes off the big screen TV! Granted, there is a lot of time left but seriously, is someone paying the Bison to miss these tackles? I may have to read that recumbent bike the whole second half!!!
My mother always said, the bigger they are the harder they fall. Go Jacks!

  7. Mpls morning paper has a big article about how NDSU recruits in MN. The head coach and 10 of his staff came last year for a 2 day stay and visited 60 to 70% of the high schools in MN (seriously?). The head coach describes the continual flow of MN talent as “critical.” “They were viewed as borderline recruits but developed into over achievers - and NFL prospects in some cases - under terrific coaching.”Between the 2 teams there will be 45 players with ties to MN.

Humility at JuiceU seems to be in short supply.

Word distraction? There were no big words in my comments.

If DeBoer will take the UND job I would recommend we hire him. What happened 10 years ago is irrelevant today.
We need a present day solution. My questions were besides the obvious coaching change, what were the culture, game management, and X’s and O’s Changes MW referred to?  We need to avoid previous mistakes and also maybe apply some new strategies to improve our chance of success. If you disagree, then we disagree.

What is the difference? A total commitment from UND admin and athletics dept. Bubba can not do it alone…media hype, sponsorship, hyped up social media posts, players being involved in the community during the off season (lawn work for little old ladies and picking up garbage downtown all in UND t-shirts), asking members of he community and donors to be included in social media posts….seriously.

One of the MOST impressive FB posts is a college which had 4 to 6 year old girls in cheerleading dresses interviewing players…. Just sitting in chairs in the IPF… “Why are you missing your front teeth?” “What do you do to make your butts look square (giggle)?” They even did the pre-season line up with a little help (the team and dates were printed on the posts). There was a “Walk-a-Block” series walking in the community and interviewing players. These are even played on the big screen scoreboard at games. We need more, much more, positive, creative media and we should not depend on the GF Herald to do all our media….and I really love the GFH. There must be a media grad student to work on this.

Every sponsor and donor should have an opportunity to say why UND football is important to them. When I go to home games I see that…2 and 3 generations of fans…all in UND apparel.

Get someone to help Bubba with an image promotion….great for NIL too. This is a whole change in the culture of UND football…someone needs to step up.

Right now I’m pretty happy I bought SDSU hoodie, after they beat the bison in October, to wear around here in Fargo.

I may have to order one. Never thought of that!

  11. Listening on the radio… the Bison announcers were totally shocked the first quarter.

”We’ll get them after the next time”…after 2nd TD

THE BEST: “The Bison aren’t built to come back. We just aren’t.”

some of their comments were…not so good

The case I referred to was money from a private donor.

Certainly public sentiment is a big issue with tax dollars. In Minnesota politicians will be falling all over themselves to find ways to spend the tax surplus. Their priorities tend to be either rewarding voters or buying votes. I don’t hear much discussion about a “rainy day fund”. There is discussion regarding no longer taxing social security but half of the politicians will have a fit if that applies to all SS recipients. Given time both sides will create a s show and then waste a good portion if not all.

If private donors want to earmark their donations, it’s best to say thank you. If they wish to make unrestricted donations then public sentiment is a factor.

Ira, you are a very wise man!

Yes, both sides are creating a show. Yes, money will be wasted and there will be a very questionable public benefit.

Simple. I don’t believe public sentiment was an issue in that case.

Actually, IMHO any unit of government spending public money seems to ignore public sentiment….spoken from a MN viewpoint with now almost $18 BILLION of excess tax money, currently undecided.

Marketing.  Still waiting on Pollard Phase 2 renderings and public fundraising effort.  Who gives a crap I guess.

Are there renderings anywhere of the new coaches offices being built?  Build some hype, my god.

So I got an annual letter from the alumni assn. for donations. There was an option for some football fund I have not heard of and no expksination what the fund is used for. I am GLAD that football made the letter but there needs to be a coordinated effort. Is someone working on this? Just wondering.

  15. Not sure this belongs on this feed but reading over my annual foundation letter “Football Priority Needs Fund (69140)” is listed with “UND’s President’s Excellence Fund”and “Other” as options. The President’s Fund is explained but not the football one. I see other options here. Could someone explain these funds and their purpose? Thanks, Mama

  16. I see some colleges include a “promised” amount from NIL in their press releases when announcing commits…. Great idea IMHO

Lets people were here their donations are going. By the way, Big 5 schools have 6 digit figures
