Great to see those young players walk right through defenders, taking the puck and shooting on net for a goal.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

My favorite moment from the last National Championship game that UND won was the bizarre goal where the goalie's clearance deflected off Brock Boeser's rear end, and he immediately capitalized by burying the puck into the net. This unforgettable college memory serves as a great backdrop for the news that Boeser is reportedly finalizing a massive seven-year contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks, valued at approximately $50 million. It's clear that this commitment is driven not just by money, but by the fact that he's a player who genuinely loves the culture in Vancouver. -

Was this the shot off a face-off and three players touched the puck or was it 4 players touched the puck. -
Eli's extended absence until Christmas, this recovery period presents significant opportunities for development. His physical rehabilitation can be used to achieve specialized cross-training benefits: If the injury is lower body, he can use the time to focus on developing upper body strength while simultaneously managing lower body rehab. Conversely, an upper body issue allows for dedicated work on lower body strength and conditioning concurrently with the upper body's recovery. This downtime is also crucial for mental and tactical skill acquisition: He will have a valuable opportunity to study game film and observe practice sessions to learn the team's strategies, plays, and the coaches' specific expectations. Watching games from a detached perspective can provide extensive time for game-flow analysis and deeper understanding of his position and team dynamics. If Eli approaches this recovery period as a "rainbow of opportunity" — a chance for targeted, specialized development — he is likely to return to the sport with a notably enhanced and integrated skillset. In the long run this could be helpful for him as a UND recruit.

The first games I went to at UND, the goalie wore a face hugging type of mask. That early goaltender face-mask was, I believe a fiberglass shell, directly molded to the face. The absence of a cage and likely minimal eye protection created a high-risk environment for significant eye injuries from direct impact. -
Thank you

I was disappointed to have missed the game. Could you tell me if many of the backup players got a chance to play? I'm also curious about how the field goal and extra-point kicking went.

Yes! I really miss being on the sideline and working with the squads. The game today was wonderful, again thank you for helping me find the game today. I loved the way the team shut-down the other team from scoring. -

Thank you all. I want to clarify that the schedule I was referring to is the one with the hotlinks for the video feeds. I still have not heard back from NCHC.tv, and the hotlinks have now disappeared from the schedule entirely. I assume the schedule is still under construction. The attached picture shows the schedule I am referring to. -

The 1-0 match was watched, providing an engaging viewing experience. The performance of the University of North Dakota's sophomore goalkeeper was particularly noteworthy for her quality and poise. The decisive goal was a testament to the offensive team's execution, initiated by an impressive diagonal pass that found the scorer in a prime position. However, a critical assessment of the play reveals a strategic lapse in the opposing goalkeeper's positioning. She failed to adequately cover both the near-post angle and the angle of the shot, which was ultimately capitalized upon for the score. Had the goalkeeper's positioning been two steps more forward to her goalie defensive line, she likely would have been able to make the save. Despite the defensive lapse on the scoring play, the match resulted in a victory for the UND squad, a successful outcome for the team. -
The issue of inconsistent kicking in football could be mitigated through a more adaptive practice regimen. While the use of kicking tees provides a consistent and controlled environment, it fails to simulate the variable ball placement inherent in live-game situations. To enhance a kicker's performance under pressure, it is crucial to move beyond static practice methods. A more effective approach would involve a training program centered on adaptability. This would entail regular practice with a rotation of different snappers and holders to prepare kickers for a variety of ball placements. The focus of this training would be on adjusting kicking mechanics to locate the ball's sweet spot regardless of its position or angle. Furthermore, a strategic collaboration between the football program's kicking coach and a skills coach from a soccer team could be highly beneficial. This interdisciplinary approach would allow for the fine-tuning of a kicker's mechanics by leveraging specialized knowledge of the biomechanics and technique of kicking a ball under various conditions. While my own coaching days are behind me, such an innovative training model could improve the efficacy and consistency of kicking at any level of competition. This is not an attempt to advise coaches on their profession, as they are experts in their field. Instead, it's an idea presented for consideration.

A month-long review of the NCHCTV broadcast schedule has revealed a notable absence of scheduled games for the University of North Dakota's hockey team, including the upcoming matchup against Manitoba. This observation, coupled with an unsuccessful attempts to contact the network directly via phone and email for clarification, has led me to concern. Could anyone in the know, please provide information regarding whether UND's games are being distributed through a separate, exclusive broadcast agreement, such as one with Midco, for the current season? -

For shots on goal what are the predominant characteristics of their attempts, specifically in terms of trajectory, over the bar, skimming the pitch, or are the shots hitting the frame? Has the new manager's system instilled a higher degree of positional discipline and tactical cohesion among the players on the pitch? I really miss watching women's soccer, what is the broadcast distribution for the matches? Are they primarily available through a national network, a regional sports provider, or a dedicated over-the-top streaming service like ESPN+? -

That 2-1 game. I would like to know how many good shots during the game did UND have toward goal. I remember a number of years ago watching my wife coaching a girls game (11x11 squad). Her team dominated and hit the goal-post 8 times and still lost the game 1-0. -

I’ve been watching some of last season’s games on NCHCTV to get ready for the new season, but it looks like they've taken them down. I also haven't been able to find any upcoming UND games on their schedule, so I'm wondering if they're still building it. I emailed Sam Kuhne but haven't heard back yet. Watching those old games has me thinking. I saw that 7-2 win over Boston University, and it baffled me. The team had so much potential, yet they struggled for most of the season. It makes you wonder what went wrong. They had five or more goals against a talented NCAA team. AND YET........ what happened? -
I've been following this rivalry so long that I remember when Moo-U got artificial turf before UND did. I guess NDSU figured out a new way for the cows not to graze at halftime!

For Canadian university athletes, transferring to a U.S. Division I school can be a strategic career move. They hope to gain more visibility with professional teams in leagues like the AHL or NHL. If switching schools helps a player get noticed, then all the best to them. -
"Sadly, over the last number of years, UND should have destroyed teams but ended up losing."

This game was a message to UND fans: football is back. This new era of UND football will attract more eyes this season.
