  1. I thought that game was going to overtime.

You and me, both.  Second time IN ABOUT A WEEK I've taken my phone out to get in on the #bucciovertimechallenge, only to have the game won in the last 1.5 seconds.  Love the playoffs!

  2. I hope Zane stays, but what could be delaying his decision is the fact that Peter Chiarelli was fired as GM in Boston, and as of yet they still haven't hired a new GM.  Might be a waiting game for Zane right now.

Good point, and one we've been overlooking.  A change in GM could change a lot of things in Boston - coaches, promises, paths, etc.

  3. Hard to argue with anything you said.     It's a nice town but not as great as the locals think it is.

Glad to know someone else has had the experience, so I didn't just come off as bitter, LOL!  I just have a couple of "those friends" and the comment about the grinders kind of triggered a reaction...

  4. Anyone who lived in Bismarck and went to the Grinder Shop knows how average the Peppers grinders are (see-through meat slices).  Evan made them the way they were supposed to be made.

Actually, anyone who grew up in Bismarck will tell you how much better EVERYTHING is in Bismarck.  They won't be able to explain why they left anyway, but it'll still be better.

  5. This is just utter nonsense. The Vikings actually have very stable support and far fewer bandwagon fans than most NFL teams.

For instance, the Viking's 2014 local market TV ratings were 13th in the league at 32.3. Not great, but better than the league average, which is actually quite good considering that they were without Adrian Peterson from the 2nd game on, and they were coming off a 5-11 season in which they fired their head coach. Heck, the great Dallas Cowboy's only had a 31.6!

Actually, it was meant in jest.  But also directed at some "fans" of teams and an opinion brought on by the callers on sports talk radio - "Vikings won! We're going to the Superbowl! Vikings lost!  Fire everyone!".

If you want to bring up ratings, though, I'd be curious what their numbers were when they made the playoffs a couple years ago, or first half vs. second half of the season(second should be better due to weather forcing more people indoors?).

  6. It seems like every Wild game I watch, there's a replay of a breakaway of some sort where you see Vanek, in the background of the shot, standing flat footed watching the other team race away, and it's often because of a poor pass/decision on his part.  He's had his ups and downs this season, but he's routinely frustrated the hell out of me!

  7. In this Kronwall case, it seems like TBL is getting extra benefit out of that non-call.

If they had lost, their season would have been over.  Tough to take this suspension out of context.

Game 7 tonight - I hate the Wings, so GO BOLTS!

  8. July? We're going to hear well before that. Right when school is out we'll hear. First or second week in May.

I was exaggerating a little, but it has happened before over the summer - I think Dell was a later signing?
  9. Adversity. Go back and look at pretty much every Stanley Cup champion starting with 2014 and you'll find that every single one dealt with some.

Of course - it's hockey.  Again, it's not the loss, but what I perceived as rolling over in the loss, that bothered me.

The Wild have been so good on the road the last three months, minimal concern here.

    Very true!

  10. First time they've been blown out in about three months...didn't you think they were about due for a bad game?

I'm not shocked they lost, it was the manner in which they lost that bothered me.  I didn't see the pushback that winning teams show - there was a little in the 2nd with the goal, but then the Blues got one right back, and MN seemed to give in for the night.

On a side note; I never liked the idea that a team is "due for a bad game".  A good team should always play a good game, even if they don't win, IMO.

  11. When I flipped over and saw 4 goals on 12 shots I wondered why Duby didn't have a baseball cap on.

(Yeo is killin' my Stanley Cup game entry with that.)

MTS Centre looks like a fun atmosphere to watch hockey in.  I'm going to have to get to a Jets game next season.

Definitely agree on both of these.

Last night was an unacceptable let down by the Wild.

  12. Exactly right! AD can certainly force his way out by becoming a locker room cancer. But that would only serve to cost him money and further damage his already tattered public image.  It's AD that stands to lose the most in a holdout situation. The Vikings lose little or nothing.

If Adrian Peterson wants to rebuild his standing as an all-time NFL great, his best course is to STFU, report to training camp in Mankato, and have a great season with the Vikings. Then, maybe, the money and adulation he expects will begin to come back to him.

Unfortunately, it appears that he's getting stunningly bad advice from his agent.

    Well put!

  13. What makes you think that he will come back to the Vikings? He has already made over $50+ million dollars that his agent negotiated a contract for him that has paid him a lot of money. the final three years of Adrians contract is NON-Guaranteed money (like I've said, NFL contracts mean jack SH&T). AD could walk away this year and leave the Vikings with nothing but a dead cap salary hit.

Never said he would, I'm just not so sure he wouldn't.  The Vikings will pay him well, as they have a contract.  If no one else can pay him (as he's under contract) and he wants to play, he could be in MN this season.  Probably won't be, but he could be.

  14. Yes, he will be traded but if he isn't traded before the draft his value keeps going down. He has stated many times over and over again that he wont play for the Vikings, what do you not understand? When a player of his caliber is un happy, the team does not keep them. Contracts in the NFL don't mean crap anymore, he will be moved before the draft and it wont be for a buttload of draft picks like Vikings fan thinks. Not sure if you guys listen to KFAN but even PA says the Vikings don't hold all the cards.

I honestly have never heard him say that.  His agent has said that to leverage a position.  What makes you think that if push comes to shove, that he won't fire his agent and play out his contract, rather than leave the money and his tarnished legacy in tact?  His agent can't allow such an idea, or he loses his chance to try negotiate another contract following a trade.

I believe AP wants to play in near his family.  That doesn't mean he won't continue to play in MN if it doesn't work out.

BTW, I'm not even a Viking fan.

  15. Wild just called up Bickel. Hope he handles Ott tomorrow night!

See, I'd rather they didn't.  What's he going to do if they never engage him, and his shtick gets him nowhere?  Of course I think he deserves it, but not getting sucked into his trap is the best revenge, IMHO.

  16. Byfuglien probably should've been tossed (no powerplay) for the cheap shot after the Perry goal.

Yeah, that was really poor.  That was Ott-level classlessness.

The best advertisement for the NHL ... is the atmosphere in Winnipeg.

That was awesome to see!  Wish they'd have won, but now with an 0-3 hole, it doesn't look good for the Jets.
