  1. Having seen UND's play and results against the other top NCHC teams, it's easy to imagine UND losing to any of them.  The teams took turns looking impressive, and Zane was the difference more than once.  This is a very good UND team, in a league with other very good teams.

Zane and the unusually mobile and skilled defense could set UND apart when it counts.  In MacMillan's absence, though, someone is going to have to win faceoffs, especially on late-game PKs in the defensive zone.  You just cannot repeatedly hand them possession.

Those faceoffs will be huge!  Our PK will need to be in good form for this run.

  2. Pipes were the number 1 star tonight. There was a sequence of 3 pipes in less than a minute that saved the Wilds hide.

You got that right - that extra coat of paint on that end really made a difference!

LOL at the people hating on the Wild because of the broadcast team or former goofs on the roster :)  As someone who never watches a goofs game (that isn't against UND), I only know Lapanta as the Twins and Wild announcer, so that problem is solved.  As for the goofs players, the Wild seem to be collecting them, but just like when I told that onetime Pio, Zucker, that I was glad to finally be able to cheer for him, I'm trying to look past the poor college choices made by some of Parise's teammates.

  3. I think Illinois just removed all references to Indians and now use Illini as a reference to a resident of Illinois.

They dropped the word "Fighting" from the name.  Also, I've heard that the tribe is extinct, or at least no longer an organized/recognized group, thus no one had to approve of the name, but that could be bad info flowing in...

  4. Maybe after a new nickname is chosen they will come out with UND license plates. Of course a Fighting Sioux plate would've been great.

Just put the ND on them.  The "new logo" plates won't be too popular, I'm afraid

  5. Apparently Eastview came out for the 2nd period of their 2nd game of the day on Saturday, then promptly left the ice to "protest" the officiating.

    Wow, that's bad!

I'm still not sure how I feel about that dance competition.  According to some people who were there, the winning team basically admitted they stole big pieces of the routine, but I'm not sure I'm on board with the girls that didn't accept their medals.  I get they felt they had to do something, but I'm not sure they did the right thing... Then again, I have no better suggestion for them beyond the formal protest that was turned down.

  6. When did the sign actually get displayes?  I wasn't there, but I am hearing that is was very late in the third period.  So it is a possiblilty that by the time that these kids were done meeting with REA officials, the game was already over.

It was in the third - we had a great view of all of it from across the rink.  After the sign was rolled/crumbled up, several students exited with security staff.  I called bullsh;t then, but did not notice if any returned.  People on here saying only one student was thrown out makes me believe there was more to his particular story.

  7. And Austin claims he was kicked out. Also I've also heard from a reliable source that one of the students was kicked out. Why the conflicting story?

This may have been a result of the "meeting in the office"?  We saw multiple students leave, so if only one of them was actually kicked out, one could be led to believe that student did/said something to escalate his consequence.  If it was just that he brought the banner, then that's not deserved.  If he became belligerent, or threw a temper tantrum, that'd be a different story...

  8. It was St Clair's last year there before joining the Sioux (so 4 years ago?). Was in a nearby pub watching the Sioux loss to Yale a couple years ago, but didn't drive over to the arena

At any rate, very little paved parking 4 years ago, so you were routed around to the west and north of the arena through mud and muck, then had to walk back through the mess to the arena. Would guess the parking has been expanded/improved since then

Actually still just paved on the south side.  West is still gravel, which can be fine, or a mud hole depending on weather.  West side was never paved due to the expansion sheets that were to be added.  Now, finally, one sheet is going to be...

During the Force season Bulldog Tap runs a shuttle bus, but I expect a few more places to do it for the regional.

  9. The thin mints are with the peanut butter ... on the top shelf. (I've heard him explain it once.)

Lol the old adage "up where grandma hides the cookie jar" aka... Going top shelf for a goal.

It's also mutated a bit over the last year or two to be "the best of the best" kind of a statement.  Girl Scout cookies are the best, but Thin Mints are the best of the best -

  10. Math brain in overdrive this morning.  Read at your own risk:

Reserve tickets for the schools had to be held at even numbers.  Pre-season, we weren't guaranteed to make the tourney (see last year's final night drama), so, at 500 per school, 2,000 tickets still will be put up for sale.  Since we now know our boys are getting in, that's 500 more Sioux fans.  We're up to 3,500 out of 5,000 (est), or 70%, before the other teams' returns even start.  Even if each other school uses 1/2, that's 750 more available.  If all 750 go to Sioux fans, 4,250 out of 5,000, or 85% will be cheering for one team.  Might be a small home ice advantage...

  11. Listed of most hated UND opponents….imo :

    1. Gophers
    2. BC
    3. DU
    4. Michigan

BC and DU are very close in hated ....technically DU is a longer rival.... but BC losses are always season enders, apparently we have a distain for maroon/crimson and gold teams

I pretty much agree with this list, but I'm not sure Wisconsin doesn't take the 4th slot - I guess that depends on the season.

  12. If I had the ability to make one change, and one change alone to the NCHC, it would be to make the playoff format a "one and done" format at one location. All 8 teams make the Frozen Faceoff. Start Thursday at 11:00 a.m., 10 a.m. if necessary, and go until the 4 games are done that day. 45 minutes between games. The two semis on Friday with the final on Saturday. 3rd place game optional. Everyone would know that their team gets to go to Minneapolis each year. Book your tickets and rooms in advance. More fanbase to fill the arena. One big party.

oooww, I like this! While I kinda see the point of the first round on campus, I've never been a big fan of it. I'm ready for the playoffs at that point, but first, here's another full weekend...
