  1. UNLV vs Denver Oct 4th CC vs Simon Fraser Jan 17th
  2. If the cupcakes bite back, the B1G isn't going to be easy for them
  3. Would be perfect for CHI to work with UND about having two Texas ACHA schools (Texas and Texas A&M) play before the UND/Michigan State game and get a discounted ticket to the UND/Michigan State. CHI could be using UND and their destination games to expand the game. The school he never would have thought of would have been one I've thought of lol. Thinking of 4 regions that it could be, Florida, Texas, PNW (Portland), and Utah. I do wonder about the new arena for Oklahoma that is going to be built. Oklahoma would raise an eyebrow, not because of it being in Oklahoma, Central Oklahoma has been very good at the AHCA level. But Oklahoma's ACHA team has never been that good.
  4. College Hockey Coast 2 Coast Se 3 Ep 2 July 14, 2025 | ITHSWpodcasts The expansion talk, I put the bullet points in that thread It's toward the end of the interview (35 minutes in the podcast)
  5. Mine would be San Jose State, they already play at the Sharks/Barracuda facility.
  6. Listen to an interview of Sean Hogan, Director of CHI. A question about a network like ESPN to carry a game of the week. CHI is working to partner with ESPN or NHL Network to grow TV media rights for college hockey, but each conference has their own TV media rights deal. Hogan said talks are taking place to get everyone on the same page about TV media rights or that is what I got from it. Interesting that Mike Snee has been working for a about a decade to get the NCAA legislation and work with the schools to get a team in the Spangler Cup. He said the coaching staff should be announced in the next few weeks.
  7. Listened to an interview of Sean Hogan He said there are 3 feasibility studies scheduled this with two site visits completed. Sees more teams in the future not less it's important for CHI needs to get the message out to more ADs that there is a free feasibility study provided by the NHL/CHI if they want to add hockey The niche spot in adding hockey is D1 school without a big football program (i.e. not the Power4/5). Big schools are interested/donors are interested on the East and West to add hockey at schools A school in California is possible in the next "10 years" sounded like he was trying to not spill the beans on something One school that CHI is working with was a surprise "would have never thought of this school". If this would come to fruition it would help grow college hockey where they need to grow hockey, very exciting. They have kept these NHL/CHI feasibility studies super secret squirrel so hard to find who did one without it being reported. There was originally 5 done round 2018 with only Illinois and Oakland being confirmed with 3 not announced. Sounds like 2 of the three were Lindenwood and Mayville. Looks like 11 studies have been done plus the current 3. in the works. Illinois Oakland (MI) Lindenwood (men's) Maryville (MO) Northern Michigan (woman's) Tennessee State Delaware (woman's) Michigan (woman's)
  8. The only reason they are playing Arizona State is because they owed them a trip. Revenge of the Cupcakes this season Edit: The comments and repost are gold
  9. Surprised the ACHA allows this with how much the CHF/CHS/NACHL wanted to leave a couple years ago.
  10. Looking into the UCCU Center. They did have indoor/arena football for two years 1998 and 2009. looks like you'd lose all but the two top rows on the ends. Hard to find picture of the indoor football set up (there was only 4 I could find from 2009) you lose seating on the lower area, looks like there was only 7 rows before the upper area (folded in the above picture). As stated by @atxsioux UVU would have to put in an ice plant and redo the floor. If they wanted more end seating, only the North end could expand out South end has the basketball practice facility. Would have to add two or three locker rooms for hockey specific to go with the 6 current ones. From what I can find there are 2 upper basketball courts on each side behind the folded seating in the picture. Realistically they'd be better off working with BYU and playing at Peaks Arena (current arena) and adding back the 6,000 temporary seats that were removed. UVU could build an arena for hockey, they do have some room but Peaks Arena it the best option. UVU, Utah State, Utah, Weber State and BYU at Mavrick Center (Delta Center after renovations) would be a fun showcase for college hockey.
  11. I plan to be at the ASU/Penn State games. Last year they should have taken one if not both from Michigan.
  12. They have like 100 alumni coaches that are in his ear pulling the strings
  13. He is in Colorado doing NHL things
  14. They could, but the CHS/AAU/NACHL D1 teams are like ACHA D2 or D3 teams. Going to be a blowout and not like playing a UNLV where they are getting Teir 2 players that could have gone NCAA D3 or been extra players at the NCAA D1 level. I still haven't heard anything one CHL players to the ACHA yet. UNLV has one player that fits that category committed for next year.
  15. University of Minnesota faces $8.75M athletics deficit, payments to players rise | kare11.com
  16. Along with the 22 being the cutoff for a players NHL right. CHL could get younger and the blood bloods in the NCAA could get younger like Lucia/B1G wanted.
  17. Sounds like the NACHL is still a thing and ACHA is allowing them to do both. This list is D2 and D3, a group already was added to the ACCHL in D1 They just need to admit they failed and fold the NACHL and be in the ACHA.
  18. TSU official statement, looks like the NHL, Preds, and College Hockey Inc. had to step in and tell them to take their time and do it right.
  19. Doesn't the B1G put most of the hockey games on B1G+
  20. I always wonder should UND finally move on from only "traditional" numbers. I like that UND is pretty much the only school that doesn't let players pick any number. But there are times I wonder if a McKenna type wouldn't come to UND because he can't have 72 as his jersey number. You are starting to see players not wearing "traditional" numbers. Just a thought.
  21. The plan is $10 million for 20 rinks at $500k per rink. So, I was thinking could Utah, Weber, Utah State, BYU, and UVU get a cut of the $500k to help build a NCAA caliber arena? One of the interesting things I've heard is all the rinks in Utah are Olympic size because of the 2002 Olympic games. Utah is in the process to replace Jon M. Huntsman Center where I've seen suggested in a Utah State message board that they would make the arena able to have hockey to get some Olympics money. I guess it's going to be built by the Rice-Eccles Stadium. The Utah club team currently plays across the street from the football practice facilities. Weber State has a nice arena (Olympic curling venue) (2,000), Utah State has the George S. Eccles arena (2,000), and UVU plays at Peaks (2,500) but wouldn't be surprised they end up playing at the new Mammoth practice facility. Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona will be interesting if they see how ASU is doing, and they make the jump. Still waiting to hear more on the new arena in Greeley.
  22. Since the Stanley Cup Final has involved Florida for the last 6 years with two back-to-back champions. I'd expect the NHL/NHLPA NCAA feasibility study has to have been offered to a couple schools in Florida. FGCU would be the obvious choice; they play at Hertz Arena (7,181) and there use to be a holiday tournament there. UCF could play at Kia Center home of the Magic and Solar Bears seats 17,353 for hockey Solar Bears get around 6,500 so not bad at all. Florida State does own the Donald L. Tucker Arena (9,450 hockey) that a ECHL team, but there was a renovation in 2016. As far as I know the ice making equipment has been removed. Florida State along with Florida play in Jacksonville. The 7 (big) club teams in Florida are competitive and need to all go back to the AHCA. I'd like to see a Florida team move up with Georgia, if they ever do, and FGCU would be the one I see doing it first. A UCF series I came across.
