  1. Pretty sure SDSU's budget is up more than $1.5 million since making the move.
  2. I thought that legitimate law firms don't need to advertise?
  3. 3 million dollars a year would be enough to provide the opportunity for success.
  4. Yep from $902 to $935 (for all fees). UND's were $982 last for '05-'06, couldn't find them for next year.
  5. I'm an economist, not a lawyer, but when I saw the figure a minute ago I though it was missing a zero. UND gets one shot at this deal. This is not something to do half-assed.
  6. I don't think that UND will have any more difficulty scheduling games than NDSU did. The Bison's 2004 schedule was a very good one. I'd hope they'd schedule a DII or two or three their first year, or a non-scholly school. They'll likely be able to get home and homes with good teams from the Big Sky, Great West, and Southland. They need OOC games as bad as anybody. The only elite program in the west in my opinion is Montana (although their program is starting wane to 'good' status). Given the cash they make at home the only time they'll come to Grand Forks is if the [insert New Nickname Here] join the Big Sky. You'd likely only see four decent home games (which is about three more than you saw last year).

    Northern Iowa?

    Thanks.

You are right. I am a boob, I was thinking of Jacksonville (which is in the Pioneer!). Sorry. Cratter, feel free to take a pot shot, try not to aim to low!

Tell me if you believe that after UND plays its first non-scholly DIAA team. And that wasn't the original question.

    Northern Iowa?

The loss by Montana State to Central Washington led to the permanent benching of their quarterback, with the starting role going to Travis Lulay* beginning the next week. *Name you'd surely recognize if you followed DIAA.

Jacksonville has never been prominent, no one would argue that except for a former player or a confused alum. The school plays none scholarship ball. UND would as many points on the board as Lennon would command. (They lost 45-0 in the first round, it will probably be the last time a non-scholly school will be invited regardless of their record)

Jacksonville State is nowhere near being a prominent DIAA team, nor are any SWAC teams. Montana State is no prominent team either, though have had success recently under Mike Kramer. They have a losing record since DI-AA was created and have made it to playoffs three times since 1978. (Edit:substituted prominent for elite)

And I was responding to the last sentence of your post.

RD17 made the claim, not me.

Okay, other than NDSU over Montana who do you got?
  16. one is geography, two is money.
  17. Sure. Just like Ruley and Bucky publicly expressed their anxiety about the move at the school south of Grand Forks.
  18. By the end of the semester.
  19. Tim Miles just joked during his press conference that he will be staying in North Dakota so he can apply for the 'job up north'.
  20. That's interesting and the almost the opposite of what I had heard. Montana and Montana State, as is NAU and to a lesser extent PSU, President's of such institutions are most likely against the addition of a school such as SUU. Much like IPFW in the Mid-Con, SUU has wanted in the Big Sky for A LONG time, but they have a couple of serious strikes against them.
  21. The biggest complaint about SUU in past Big Sky talks has been academics, with it being closer to a community college than a research university. Though it is located within the Big Sky's footprint, it is not easy to get (not as bad as Flagstaff though). Also, SUU doesn't fully fund its football team. The vocal opponents of SUU have been Weber State, who apparently don't want anything to do with the school, and North Arizona (for no great reason).
  22. Looks like a school in Grand Forks might end up being a bad neighbor, God forbid.
  23. Yeah, I'm finally getting it.
  24. I agree. But why would they wait? UND has enough time to do this the right way: 1) make their decision this summer or 2) wait a year.
