  1. Maybe you don't see the hypocrisy in this awesome new board. JBB is a moderator, nice choice. He doesn't engage in conversation, it is simply a one-sided smackfest. Here's a tip; if you want to have a successful board, dump that dud. Literally every person from this type of board knows who he is and what he does. You can take your supposed freedom of speech and no sensorship BS, as long as you have a board that's run in part by him, good luck with membership.
  2. Looking ahead a litle bit, there is a good chance that the men will enter NCC play on a 9 game winning streak. Currently on a 3 game streak, they have Dickinson, Mary, Minot, Bemidji, Western Oregon, and Central Washington on the slate before league play starts. It would be disappointing to lose any of the next 4 games, and judging by resuts only, Western Oregon looks to be struggling, and Central Washington looks to be a team that scores a lot of points and gives them up just the same. Again, it is premature and perhaps the teams are down, but when was the last time a 9 game winning streak was speculated about and looked like it could possibly be in the cards? 11-4 would be an excellent 1st half given expectations were so low.
  3. I gotta say I really feel sorry for the BSU head coach. The former coach really left him high and dry. What did they have, a rotation of 9 seniors last year, and I don't believe the coach even signed anyone early last year either. The 2 kids he redshirted left because of the uncertainty. The new coach got the job at the very end of June and inherited a roster of about 2 or 3? They had 9 on their bench last night, very little talent, and a lot of attitudes on the bench. He sure has his work cut out for him, and with only 2 SRs on the roster, only 1 of whom was on the bench last night, he'll presumably have at the most 1 scholarship to play with for next year. It looks like it will get worse there before it gets better.
  4. This on DeAngelo Brackins, who was named the Duluth News Tribune Player of the Year http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/articles/...;section=Sports Brackins, who turns 18 today, says he has been contacted by Division I-AA universities North Dakota State and Northern Iowa, and several Division II schools, including Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State-Mankato and North Dakota. Brackins says the latter, which is planning a move up to Division I-AA, is open to the idea of him playing football and basketball.
  5. Another thing that I see as extremly bright, it is refreshing watching Harry Boyce play defensively and watching Emmanuel Little go to the boards. After the past few years when it seemed like things were more lax out there, those 2 go all out, and that is very good to see. Harry Boyce guarded Mayville's best player, Monty Rogers, who would be very good in D2, he is just undersized. He has shown in games that he can guard the point guard, a wing, and now an inside player. Granted, Rogers got 20ish tonight, but a lot of those were from the line and a few were on putbacks. He is an excellent defender who has shown that he contributes to every column on the stat sheet. Little has a warrior's mentality out there, and goes after every rebound hard. The frontcourt that they can rotate in there, with Gutter, Koenig, Kruse, Little, and eventually Dryburgh, looks like it will be very productive. And Gutter has shown marked improvement as well.
  6. Well that settles it Go there and I know your feeling will change. It has seen it's better days, and that was in the '80s.
  7. You been in the dome or near it?? Judging by "The dome is good for football", I would guess not. NDSU is in a much better situation facilities-wise then USD is, even without a refurbishing of the BSA.
  8. I hope they've got some MAJOR facility improvements planned.

    UND vs UNO

Because the D has really limited Omaha so far.

    UND vs UNO

Maybe I'm crazy, but I would've gone for 2 after the last TD. Nothing to lose.
  11. From SC Times All-Area football team; Seth Noreen 6-6, 235 sr. DL, St. Cloud Apollo Teams ran away from him ... Credited with 30 tackles and two quarterback sacks at defensive end ... Career numbers: 45 receptions, 1,157 yards, 10 TDs, 25.7 yards per catch ... All-Central Lakes Conference, all-area ... All-area basketball player ... Coaching staff credited him with 20 pancake blocks in 2006 ... Also Apollo
  12. Where does the info that NDSU has 15 verbal committments come from?? So far they have Eddie Beeson, Austin Richard, Garrett Johnson, and who are the 12 others? Bohl is on record as saying they are shooting for the stars with the remaining scholarships (which isn't very many), so they will most likely not get very many verbals until pretty late in the process as kids wait for larger schools to offer. Who are these mysterious 5 star verbals that no one in the media, not even Steve Hallstrom, knows about? 15 verbals is and out and out lie. They most likely won't even SIGN 15. And if NDSU does "win the recruiting war", that really doesn't mean a whole lot. Remember how Babich used to claim how he got every single player he wanted. If that is how it continues to work, I'll gladly take the continuous massacres in the recruiting war that UND takes.
  13. Direct quote, "In Peters and Ellestad, Winona State may have the finest tandem of receivers in Division II." That made me lookup these 2 phenoms numbers, 585 yards and 451 yards respectively.
  14. This is the exact playoff criteria as taken from the NCAA Handbook used to select and seed teams; 1) D2 win-loss (record and winning percentage) UND 8-1 UNO 8-2 1 check for UND 2) Division II strength of schedule Can only go by last weeks region rankings here, in which case UND is clearly ahead and inproved since last week. 1 check for UND After that these may be evaluated; 1) Head-to-head competition 1 check for UNO 2) Result against common opponents UNO lost to USD, UND beat USD 1 check for UND 3) D2 won-loss record of opponents UNO- 54-43 UND- 45-41 1 check for UNO 4) D2 record versus teams less then or equal to .500 Wash 5) D2 record versus teams with greater then .500 Check for UND, UNO lost to NW Missouri and USD, UND to UNO 6) D2 in-region record Wash 7) Overall won-loss record UND 9-1 UNO 8-2 Check for UND 8) Results versus non-D2 opponents UND 1-0, UNO 0-0 I guess this is a check for UNO, but UND played 1 top 10 I-AA team, so? 9) Last 4 games UND- 3-1, UNO- 3-1 Wash So based on the criteria, UND won 5 of them including the all-important 1st two, UNO won 2 of them & one of them (results against non-D2 opponents) is iffy at best, and there was a wash on 3 of them. How was this even close if this is the exact playoff selection criteria??
  15. I am dumber for having read that. I can see comparing teams that have like oponents. Comparing 2 teams through a comparison of how your team beat an opponent, how that opponent did against ...........whatever. No one ever compared like opponent's of a like opponent's opponent. Have you been listening to Beano Cook too much???

Oh, you mean there are more JBBs?

    NDSU Football

Talk about pathetic. Grow up a little bit, set an example. Do as I say, just not as I do. You engage in the same stuff that you claim to "detest NDSU as much as I do" for. You sound just as dumb as you claim they do, in fact more so. Move on a little bit with your life, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't that important. It is extremely tiresome.
  18. There are some similaries in those scenarios, but there is one glaring difference. Holt's players did not endorse him as the person they hoped would get the job to the administration. Herbst's have already endorsed him to the administration.
  19. Sioux get a verbal from Harry Boyce from Williston State last night. Boyce is 6-4 and can play any of the 3 outside positions. He averaged 16 pts, 4 rebs, and 4 assists, is a slasher, and is known as a very tough defender. He chose UND over Kentucky Wesleyan and Lynn University amongst others. Hopefully more good news will come today in the form of Jerry Bennett, a 6-7 post man from DMACC whom the coaching staff is very high on and is visiting today and a player many of the top D2 programs have offerred. Today is the last day coaches can see players before the late signing period on Wed.
  20. A couple of things to keep in mind here, 1) Before anyone condemns Randall Herbst as the next head coach, does anyone know his how he will coach both offensively and defensively?? His philosophies are completely different then that of Rich Glas, and it is obvious that that is exactly what everyone wants. 2) Since it seems convenient for some to assume Coach Herbst is not a good coach because of track record as an assistant, what was Craig Smith's track record as an assistant? When he was at Minot State they were one of the worst NAIA prgrams in the country. 3) National signing day is Wednesday. In addition to the 2 verbals from Dryburgh and Kruse, UND is in position to sign 3 and perhaps 4 more players. If a new staff is brought in, Dryburgh and Kruse may honor their commitments, the other players that the Sioux have a great shot at landing over some of the top D2 teams in the region and country WILL NOT be in Sioux uniforms next year. Recruiting would obviously take a huge hit and need to be literally started over again. I have no problem saying that I think Coach Herbst should be given a shot. He has paid his dues here and him and the other staff, if promoted accordingly, have a group of recruits in place that can turn the program around immediately. Most want a new regime, but that is actually exactly what Herbst would represent. He stands for pressure defense with the willingness to play zone, something fans have noted angrily that Glas would not. Offensively, the fans would not be seeing the same set of plays we have become used to seeing. Full-court pressure would be there, all in all, there would be a more progressive style of play that we as fans are seeing from most other teams accross the country, regardless of level. Not to mention the fact that the players themselves want Coach Herbst to be the next head coach.
  21. I was told he just didn't fit into what they were trying to do offensively, which is really push the ball and that really backfired on them as Ill St was last in the league in shooting, FT%, 3 PT%, everything. He had no character issues though, and that is always good to hear. He also put up solid rebounding numbers at Science, so he should help on the boards, as will Dryburgh.
  22. Correct. Verbals from Dryburgh and Kruse yesterday. Both players are versatile and address team needs. Hopefully more good news to come in the next few weeks. Kruse was the leading scorer for Science 2 years ago and lead the JUCO national tourney in scoring as well.
  23. What horribly flawed logic. Not to justify anything, but how Red River students react when they beat Central is completely different then how South would react when they beat Central. Red River and Central are heated rivals. South and North are heated rivals. Comparing Red River-Central to Central-South is a brutal comparison at best. How would South students react if they beat North in the state championship game?? That would be a comparison to make to RR-Central and how the students react. Trouble is, we may never know what the reaction would be.
  24. There is some dialogue if memory serves, but the wing position is jammed right now with FR and SO, guys like Harkins, Blackwell, Hoy, Wills, Harkins, ETC. The bigger need is at PF for next year. Having seen Goodwin play though, I can tell you that he is much more of a scorer then a pure shooter. IMO he is not any better then Harkins, and Harkins is also bigger then Goodwin is. Also keep in mind that his numbers are inflated playing in the league he does, and also remember how many players that have played in the Mon-Dak have gone onto schools and been complete busts. They have put guys all over the D1 map who have done absolutly nothing at their 4 year school. IMO, other then NDSCS which has had some players the past few years, that league is terribly overrated as far as the talent it turns out. Call me a skeptic.
