I considered that also. Ultimately with UMass being essentially the same distance from Worcester as BC, I, personally, found it unnecessary for attendance purposes.

I agree.  Also, Cornell “should” be in Albany with this week’s pairwise.  This draw looks pretty solid.  I think the guys at USCHO will come up with something similar if not the same.

I think they are talking about breaking a PWR tie using RPI, which is what the NCAA uses, per my understanding.

I think that is correct.  I'm still not certain why there is discrepancy between USCHO and CHN.  I did notice the DU/BC swap in pairwise even though BC's RPI is higher than DU's (according to the app).  When I looked this morning on the app BC was 5 and DU was 6.  That certainly makes a difference where UMD would be placed prior to the shuffling team exercise.

Looking this morning like you can keep Bracket Integrity with all but a Texas two step with the 13, 14, 15 seeds to avoid intraconference matchups.  I’ve got UND in Worcester this morning.

Who needs to be swapped within the 4th. band?  I see a swap in the 3rd.

The trial was in like 2011 so I'd say this has been an official rule in Minnesota for the past few years at least. I'm sure if other states wanted to they could put the rule in place but many other states just follow the NFHS rule while Minnesota uses a modified version.

It’s been quite some time then.  I wasn’t aware of that, thanks.  ND should do this as well.

Well, there you go.  Sounds like they made the correct decision based on that.

As it should be.  Hockey Canada - 1 rule book.  USA we use 3 to 4 depending upon the league.   This particular rule is different in USA Hockey, NFHS, and NCAA.  I wasn’t aware Minnesota was allowed to see how this looks.  Is this pilot project exclusive to Minnesota or all Federation participants?

  6. New bracketology out from the guys at USCHO.

Once again I get Connelly’s rationale even though I don’t like it this week.  He states UND in Loveland instead of Allentown due to proximity.  If that’s the case we should hope for the 2 spot overall so we can go to Allentown, I’d rather see us there than Loveland.  Only benefit is that it is a drive for folks that would do so.

Moy has the same but then swaps teams in the 3rd. band which I feel is unnecessary as the brackets are about as good as they can get for attendance.  He avoids 1 and 2 matchups from the same conf. being placed in the same regional.  Seems a bit arbitrary to me.

So we’re closer to Loveland than Allentown by 500 miles.  The question with both being flights is do they send us to Allentown with the number 7 seed PSU or to Loveland with the number 6 seed DU.

Current seeding calls for some controversial moves within the brackets.  A UND vs DU final will make that region a success.  I’d also venture that a UND vs PSU final would also result in a successful region.

the UMass Clarkson half bracket would certainly move to Albany.

i think you do your best to protect the overall #1 in terms of bracket integrity (even if only 1 spot), so I’ve got:

    Allentown:

    UND vs Atlantic Winner

    PSU vs BSU

    Loveland:

    mankato vs maine

    DU vs OSU

    Worcester:

    BC vs Quinnipiac

    UMD vs ASU

    Albany:

    Cornell vs Lowell

    UMAss vs Clarkson

A side benefit is you have 4 conferences represented in 3 of the 4 regionals.

    Mine is the same.

So fans.  Here lies the question:

Do you rather want Penn State in Pennsylvania, or Denver in Colorado.

IMHO they put Cornell in Albany so that's out of the question for us.  I think if Denver does something crazy like win the NCHC tournament and moves way up we will be in PA.

Funny how where our guys end up is controlled by how Denver plays until the NCAA tournament.

Don’t forget Fargo N/S/Sh., GF and West Fargo United.

I feel that NDHSAA is not interested in growing girls hockey or any hockey in general. Some of these issues may have been resolved already if that were the case.   i.e 2 class system etc...

And NDAHA is extremely protective of their “own”.

It’s ok, St. Cloud needs all the excuses they can get. But honestly, I do remember in 14-15 and 16-17 when UND did make it to the Fargo regional that the ice wasn’t in the best condition.

Maybe the regionals should be allowed on campuses again? The facilities are dedicated to hockey and attendance issues might be avoided to a degree.  Not sure why the ice would be poor at Scheels Arena though, unless it really has to do with the short turn around with logos and ice setting up.

Even in years when Crookston has been good section eight can be murderers row. The year we beat GFC GFRR & FN and took 2nd in the 8a section we lost to warroad. Plus never getting to have the tournament in Crookston means you have to beat warroad thief river or egf in their barn.

    That's a tough task.

Not sure why you would send the top overall seed to the host and top 2 seed location

Attendance in Albany.  I agree this does not protect the number 1 overall seed but that doesn't seem to matter (with the writers and past committees) past the first round.  I think attendance would take precedence if it were today.

  14. Weekly Bracketology is out.  I agree with Connelly's logic much more than Moy.  Moy cited preserving bracket integrity for 2/7 thus putting 1 in Loveland. I would argue why would bracket integrity matter after moving 3 in the same bracket as 8?  I do agree with moving Cornell to Albany but bracket integrity is out at that point.  The 3rd. seed swapping makes sense too for attendance in Albany.
