Grand Forks should get the original blueprints of the Old REA and build an arena based on them, just with more comfortable seating and state-of-the-art technology. This would be an almost perfect home for the State Hockey Tournament. It would also provide another ice sheet for teams looking for ice time, which seems to always be scarce.
I would definitely chip in some money to make it happen.
The old Ralph atmosphere for State was pretty spectacular. If I recall correctly many Saturday nights had well over 5000 people, and some years it was damn near full.

What has happened to the state tournament experience for these kids? It's sad that what was once a four day celebration has become what it has.
I dunno, I get the "teachers in the classroom" argument, but one day extra as an incentive if your team makes the state tournament is a nice way to end the year.

Speaking of Williston gotta tip the hat to their girls team. They gave NS a heck of a game this weekend and beat WF. They are in great shape to make the state tournament, the final 6 weeks of the girls season is gonna be a brawl. Besides Dickinson it appears any game could go either way. Even DL…although they are thin they may have the best player in the state and another who is up there. Regular season games are must win for some teams with no EDC/WDA or playin opportunity for state.
boys side…GFC over North was sort of a surprise. Davies looks to be finding something they gave red river a run and torched Minot 5-1.
Big week of HS hockey coming up.

Looks like they dropped 6 spots down to #20 in one weekend.I was going off of RPI on USCHO, we were at 14 yesterday and now at 15. CHN pairwise had us at 16 before and after the games yesterday like you said.

I hear ya. Started in 97 working every level where I live and last season was the first season I didn't officiate anything. I don't miss it all.

Yes from Grafton - played at CC
