I like the UMass story. Besides facing DU as a reason to root for them, I like the way they play. I hadn’t seen them until this weekend and loved their aggressiveness and moxy (I sound like Dave Starman). I also like the fact that for years, they’ve been a perpetual bottom feeder in Hockey East so it would be great to see them get some of the limelight besides the usual suspects, BC and BU.
They have a very skilled club and the best player on the ice. Of course I say that after only seeing them play twice but you can tell when you see it. Their puck possession is solid too. Denver will have their hands full for sure. UMASS reminds me of St. Cloud when St. Cloud shows up.

Who remembers the 1984 title game? Not sure if it was live or replayed when I watched it. I was pretty young but remember watching it.

The region with the #1 overall seed plays the region with the #4 overall seed.
Thanks.

How are the regional pairings at the frozen 4 determined? I assume it’s a rotation from year to year? From what I could find it looks like west and mw are on the same side meaning SCSU n UMD can only meet in the semis.
And all NCHC teams on the same side too.

That is amazing. I wish the team I help coach could be there. What a great thing for ND hockey.

Brutal. That's when you wish the glass partition would let go and the gentleman (if you can call him that) yelling at a group of young men would fall into the players. Kinda like some NHL penalty box incidents we've seen over time.

Hi, I am looking for two tickets to the regionals for aunts of Jordan and Nick Schmatlz, they have been to many games this year and are from Denver and Madison and have had no luck getting tickets.
Ya, so am I.

Lets hope they get it out of their system now. I hope the boys read these blogs. I hope they realize how much UND hockey means to us. I have watched my pro teams win Stanley Cups, Super Bowls, and World Series. NONE of those will ever compare to watching UND win a title. We vent on this board out of frustration. Frustration from seeing the lack of effort. We wouldn't care if we didn't love the program so much and if it didn't mean so much to us.
Come on boys!!!! You will basically have home ice next weekend, and we expect nothing less than an incredible effort! WIN IT FOR MAC!!!!!!!!!
Actually I hope they don't read this. They have better things to think of. Quite honestly very few, if any of the folks on this discussion thread can carry any of their skates to the rink. Hak included.

I'm not saying relax... kinda of. I like the odds of winning 4 straight better than 6. 4 straight is quite difficult for any of the teams to make next weekends field.

Sweet. Cause I can stop both ways. They can't stop you!
Game on then? Can't get stream to work.

Never mind. Thanks

Does any know if the first round games are on TV? I beleive they were last year.

Three NCHC teams in the national, not bad. Truly feel that this was a rough year for the teams in the NCHC. I believe their best regular season inter-league games are yet to come.
Me too.

I've never cheered for Wisconsin ever.......until tonight. Well maybe against the Goofs.

No bitching here. Very thankful.

That's fine. Neither game is easy. Not sure if either team wants to see us in the opener as well. Get the attendance thing, will be interesting if that is a consideration.

Don't see any deviation from this bracket. Good as can be and maintains integrity. See what Moy has to say.

OK, moving on...I'm going to start my own broomball thread so that critique can continue elsewhere and we can get back to discussing Olympic hockey here...
predictions for tonight's games?
Western sweep!
Not a chance.

That was the year Jamestown took third I believe. Had a kid named Darin Erstad on it. Could of been a D1 player had it not been for baseball and football. What an athlete.
The true Mr. Hockey in my opinion. Probably a tough sell as Stockert was the inaugural award winner . 99 or 98 points is nothing to scoff at as well.
Bismarck's road to the championship game that year was exclusively through west teams. They won by 1 goal in the quarters, OT in the semis (2 OT's if not mistaken) and of course came up short against Minot. I beleive their smallest margin of victory with any of those teams was 5 goals during the reagular season.

Plan on heading to Forks for evening stay then off to Bemidji. DOT says no travel advised from Lakota to GF. Any realtime info is greatly appreciated.

Does this mean Penn State won't have to play D3 or ACHA teams anymore?Ohio State is a sleeping giant and moving to the Big Ten will help that program a LOT and they have a very good coach and a great arena. You dont think they will recruit better players now that they're in the Big Ten instead of the CCHA? Penn State is not nearly as far behind as you think they are. They won at Wisconsin when UW was playing very well, they also won at Michigan State and beat Ohio State. Just like everyone else you are being short sighted.
