  1. Back in 1st with a big win in Greely.
  2. UND on a 14-0 run to start the 3rd quarter, up 40-25
  3. It didn't used to be but defections have hurt that conference. If Witchita ever left is there really any different between the MVC and Summit tbh?
  4. god these UNC announcers are just crying about UND's physicality.
  5. Strand just took an 85 mph fastball right to the face. UNC can't handle our physicality
  6. What happened to SMU in the 80's is why
  7. UND had a forgettable roadtrip last weekend, needing a buzzer beater to survive SUU and was denied one at NAU. They look to turn the page to this week as they only play once against travel partner UNC. The Bears season was virtually over when the school put themselves on a 1 year postseason ban due to violations under the previous coach. At first, it seemed to be okay with a 3-1 start to the conference, maybe it would be a catalyst to a surprise regular season title. Since that start? They have lost 5 out of their last 6 and are now playing out the season with nothing to play for but pride. They do have solid players that UND needs to keep an eye on, starting with Jordan Davis, who is one of the better guards in the conference as a sophomore (averaging 19 a game with 5 boards and 5 assists). DJ Miles is a solid sharpshooter who can burn a team if they are not respecting him. The record against UNC in Big Sky play has not been stellar. 3-5 overall and 2-2 in Grand Forks. The games in this series has typically gone down to the wire. UND needs to get back to what they were doing before the road trip last weekend. Hopefully Avants is finally back healthy and nobody else is fighting the same illness he was. The schedule picks up from here starting next Thursday Other matchups: MSU (6-4) @ Montana (5-5) My oh my how the season has flipped. MSU has come in winners of their last 5 and the Griz losers of their last 4. MSU got a statement win at home against EWU, really increasing their confidence. Both teams have sights on a top 3 finish and be the biggest game in the rivalry in quite some time. Can MSU win in Missoula for the first time in how long? Or can the Griz finally right the ship and get back in the race for a top 3 finish. PSU (4-5) @ EWU (7-3): Like UND, EWU needs to survive the potential trap game at home before a major showdown with UND next Thursday for 2nd. PSU hot start has now fallen by the wayside and they need a win to turn things back around if they want the bye. EWU wants to keep the surprise going, they might have what it takes to win the whole ball of wax in Reno. SAC (4-5) @ Idaho (6-4): Idaho is right back in the hunt for a first round bye and a top 3 spot after a slow start and getting a victory over PSU helped as Idaho has won 4 out of their last 5. Now they can try to hold serve at home before going on a road trek with a showdown game at UND next Saturday. SAC still looking to get going as it has been up and down all year for them. NAU (3-7) @ Weber (8-1): After getting a big win against UND, NAU proceded to throw up a clunker against ISU, losing in OT. Now they go to Weber, who looks to keep a 2 game advantage over EWU and UND. Schedule starts to pick up for Weber after this one with several big games in the month of February. NAU looking to get their biggest win in a quite a while and get these young kids some confidence going into Reno. SUU (2-8) @ ISU (2-7): Its the battle of the basement in Poky, not exactly where ISU wanted to be at this time of the year but its not too late for them to turn it around and get hot at Reno. SUU just looking to get anything going at this point, there has been flashes but nothing concrete. The call: UND cannot afford to look past this game to their matchups at home next week, as UNC has nothing to play but pride and be the spoiler. The NAU loss was a bad loss and was a golden opportunity to gain some separation and stay hot behind Webers heels. They cannot afford to lose this game and get caught further in the muck. That being said, this team is experienced enough to realize that and after a good week of practice should bounce back and get the W before the biggest home stand of the year next week. Our big 2 will outplay theirs and get the close win 77-71 UND
  8. Tell me your ways Sic. How do you do it?
  9. From a University standpoint, you can't really keep crying wolf on this issue. They brought it up again, it has to be done now.
  10. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4209292-und-will-again-look-cutting-sports-programs#.WJEDRqRZO9Y.twitter From the article This is not an effort we chose to undertake," the statement said. "It is one that outside forces necessitate us to commence. In its history, UND has faced many other foundation-shaking conditions and gone on to not only survive, but also thrive. That must be our goal." I tip my hat to you Sic, you call this
  11. I hope this fails, so the Chargers move to LA looks that much more hated on all sides
  12. I give him a lot of credit for trying to gut it out and help anyway he could. He did a lot more than Shanks did and he was like what 50%? Oh well, take care of business in these next 3 home games and all will be forgiven. I'm glad they only play UNC this week. Give them an extra day or two
  13. We won't have to wait long to answer your question. at UNC, EWU and Idaho next two weeks. 1st, 4th and 5th in the conference standings.
  14. After the weekend action: I have come to a glass half-full/half-empty approach Half-full: The other teams chasing us lost so they still hold a top 2 seed, still can win any game left on the schedule, Montana is two full games behind now. Bad games happen, Avants wasn't healthy We will bounce back Half-Empty: Still had enough talent where this shouldn't have happened. Golden opportunity to gain a little separation and if all broke correctly all but locked up a top 3 seed by Valentines Day. All they had to do was WIN! Reality: 8 game left: 5 are at home. Defend the home court, Meatloaf the last 3 road games and get to Reno 14-4 in conference play. That should be good enough for a two seed. Win out and you might get the one.
  15. So Montana and MSU can/could be brought in as package deals for non-conference basketball. One night in Fargo, GF and then flip then next night
  16. rebounding was brutal. Shanks couldn't have played any worse than he did today. Sadly his first 2-3 minutes wasn't that bad... once he got that offensive foul it was all over. I don't think Jones wanted to play Avants as much as he did but his hand was forced
  17. Any consolation for UND is that EWU lost at MSU but still doesn't take away from a bad loss
  18. I give Avants credit for trying to give UND something today, he didn't look close to 100%
  19. UND made a few boneheaded plays down the stretch. The intentional foul and fouling the 3 point shooter. But when you give up 18 offensive rebounds in a game you aren't going to win a whole hell of a lot
  20. Seales commits cardinal sin of fouling a 3 point shooter
