  1. I'm not sure when finishing top 3-4 became fine for UND. The coaches aren't recruiting players who want to be fine, they are recruiting players who want to be the best and only strive for finishing in the top 1 not the top 3-4. If we aren't expecting the football team to be the best in short order than we are doing the program a disservice. If you want to cheer for a team that will do fine there are plenty of teams in the NSIC.
  2. Other than injuries which can ruin any team I feel really good about every OL other than RT. I just don't think Gillson can move well enough. The interior is unreal though, Lynch is the best of those three starters and Kleason and McGurran are both studs. Throw in Walker and now Anderson and that is one excellent group of interior hogs. Also I won't even guess on the secondary until I see those two juco safeties in action.
  3. So what makes Sweeney good is the fact that he isn't. Interesting.
  4. My main reason for excitment and high expectations is the fact that we go from a qb who only threw spirals on accident and thinks Tebow has nice mechanics to a stud who fell into our laps.
  5. I know a lot of you guys like to drink the 'back in my day' kool aid but I think a lot of you are forgetting that those awesome teams of old were D2. No doubt they could play but the talent level across the board is better now than ever. I'm not hating of those great teams of the past that I watched dominate but its a different animal now.
  6. My opinion on this team is that WR LB DE DT and OL are deeper than any D2 team could ever be. Also all of those players are of a higher caliber. The DBs are probably going to end up being better than almost any UND has fielded by the end of the season after someone emerges on the other side of Darryl Brown. I think alot of people lose sight of the fact that even though UND has always been good, back in the D2 days we weren't even as talented as Mankato. We just executed better and were tougher. The Mankato statement was made to me by a former player who would know from experience which reinforced what I had always thought.
  7. Alot of Samoans are Mormon. Ethnicity.
  8. Defense has always had the upper hand in the spring. It's easier to jump into it
  9. I never said that. In mission situations I'm not sure if anyone knows
  10. Sounds like you're confusing talent with production. If its not a conversation worth having for you than don't post on it.
  11. He is of the ethnicity of someone who would have to do a mission
  12. I'd say the 01 and 03 teams aren't even close on offense but Hung their hats on defense. The 06 team had an unreal offense and a very good d. I can't speak on the teams from the 70s other than I know they had good players. I think this years offense could be very comparable to the 06 offense when its all said and done. The main difference is the depth now is better than ever before with the extra scholarships
  13. Talent doesnt need to play to be measured. The Oakland Raiders are about as talented as it gets in the NFL they just don't produce. The 2003 team was not nearly as talented as others but got very close to winning it all. I'm just trying to make some good conversation til things pick up again so lay off the buzz kill please.
  14. Not on offense at all. I'll give that defense credit since they were sick though.
  15. You can't just sell like that and not name a team
  16. Buy or sell this being the most talented team in UND history
  17. And to think at one point I had declared that you weren't a troll. I rescind that statement. Thanks for proving me wrong. Bison06 is officially the only non troll NDSU poster right now.
  18. Thats alot to digest, QB I don't have symbol for infinity on my keyboard but if I did I would use it to describe the QB improvement. Hansen won't run away with the job, he doesn't have to, he already did that in the spring. It's a battle for the backup spot. If play calling doesn't open up then we should look for a new OC. RB Jake Miller proved he's the man last year. I bet he gets 50-60% of the carries. I think Sutton will lower the boom and change it up. Garmen should improve much like Miller did from FR to SO years and he should be the X factor. The other RBs won't see much until an injury occurs (if one does). I'd like to see some PJ Sparks but don't know if it's in the cards this year other than special teams. I'm assuming that Miller will avoid big hits like last year and stay pretty healthy. He's a crafty runner that flows with the hit. FB I wouldn't be surprised if the new freshman FB gets his shirt pulled. WR We should spread it out more to use our athletes at WR. Jackson should be a beast and bring the pain to those poor smaller DBs. I'll put money on 4 WRs with 500+ yards each. Hardin looks razor sharp in the spring and that should carry over with a good QB for once. TE Nichols should add a nice receiving aspect to the position now that he is experienced but I have a felling that Adler will see alot of time and the ball this year. OL The only OL at risk is Gillson, he's the weak link. The interior is good and DEEP. I hope Windfelt can step up and contribute at RT. Anderson looks like a stud but plays OG where we have a bunch of talent and experience. DL Brennemen will be huge this year. Spencer Cummings, EJ Welch, and Seth Stanchick will all make major contributions this year. Devin Benjamin is the MVP of the defense and we don't hear enough about him since he does the dirty work. He and EJ will anchor the defense and probably won't get the publicity. LB Bennett and Andrews should start but there will be alot of rotation with all of the talent at OLB. My bet is that Peters and Goodman start with Goard being the third guy but watch out for Rattell. Leading tackler could be any MLB but ill go with Peters. Bennett is far and away the man at the pass rush, a high ankle sprain killed him last year, he could make some serious noise off the edge if he's healthy. DB Browns at CB. I have no idea on the safeties until I see the new guys and how Butler looks now(he was impressive the little he was playing last fall) Spec Miller and Cameron should be rock solid no worries here. Bridges is my pick on returns. Block Party will live on with new guys stepping up. Welch should be perfect for it.
  19. I'm not sure what happened to this kid in recruiting. It's an inexact science and this is a great example of that fact. When I saw his film I thought he was an awesome player with elite awareness and thought he was getting a scholarship. When I found out he was a walk on I was a bit confused but still very excited that he chose us. I think other coaches know or at least have a sense of how hard schools are going after certain kids. For whatever reason this one fell through the cracks and into our laps.
  20. You're looking at it wrong, the only reason he didn't get a scholarship offer is because of his relative demand. If other schools weren't going to offer him and UND knew it than they can get two good players by using the scholarship on someone else and still get Schobert as a walk on especially since it's FCS and there are lower scholarship amounts
  21. Fall camp is just around the corner. I can't wait to see this team in action. I was excited last year but its ten fold this time around with all of the new players and new things with the football program.
  22. All they need to do to that video to put it over the top is to add in some effects and slow motion and youd have an excellent video
  23. Dwayne looked special last fall so hopefully he's healthy and improved. I'm thinking all Brown CB and Mackey getting nickel reps
  24. Nice to see effort being put into football. One step in the right direction. The hype snowball is rolling down the slope and picking up speed.
