I actually think the stage was too big for Santiago, and a lot of our players that day. There were many times where there was a hole to run to or through but the ball carrier got happy feet and plunged straight into the OL and DL. There were some big gains to be had if the RBs had calmed down and used their vision. That said a lot of our guys weren't ready for that level of play or atmosphere. That's why I'm happy we did it. They'll never be that overwhelmed again. They'll be prepared and hungry next time.

I think getting stomped by NDSU was the best thing to happen to our team last year. It showed how far we had to go to be #1 and seemed to keep our guys in check after the FBS win.
-
If our OL is figured out by the end of spring ball we should be a team on a mission. If not we may struggle on o. I have faith in Knapf.

Catbird seat?

Last tourney for football was 2007. We had legit title hopes in 06 and 07 but had injuries to our best players.

But rivalry type drama? PSU: first game we got their d coordinator fired, second game was a defensive battle, third game was another defensive battle with us stopping them on the last play for like the 3 yard line, and this year was a great slobber knocker of a game and we tainted their record. Montana: us passing for 10000 yards on them, them blowing our doors off and going for two when up huge late in the game, then we knock out their golden boy rapist qb and all the other drama at the end of that one, then they blow our secondary apart with a third string QB. The Griz fans think we're a dirty team and below them. And PSU is always a good hard game. That's why they're our rivals in the big sky right now.
-
It's not a rivalry yet. I think we are closer to the Griz and PSU being rivals. The games have been too friendly with the Cats.

They're only decent at rating the top guys who developed early. Other than that they're worthless.

And boom goes the dynamite

I think adding anything takes away from the dynamic simplicity of your concept. Edit: Maybe adding the bottom pice is a good thing, just not with the other colors.

One thing that is interesting is that grade are a reflection of obedience, not intelligence. This means that the big fancy hard to get into schools are filled with many people who are highly obedient and will just end up regurgitating whatever their professors told them was valuable instead of deciding for themselves. Obviously there are a ton of highly successful people who went to these expensive schools but they, depending on the field, could end up working for a creative college dropout who had vision and worked to achieve it instead of gratification from grades and a piece of paper saying they're smart. Which is why I'm working on my second piece of paper saying I am smart.....

Quality of a degree has nothing to do with quality of a person or how creative and successful they'll be in their field. It's just a fact that UND isn't an academic powerhouse.

Apparently Berry was at the signing day party. Says a lot about the kind of guy Berry is.

Let's not kid ourselves, UND is one of the easiest schools to get into and not every program is good. In fact, some really blow. There are some strengths but we're not on the B1G level at all.

I nearly broke my parents futon celebrating that play.

Nice article on Geier. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/3939854-andover-coach-says-und-getting-steal

I think Haas could end up being the steal of this class. Tall rangy and quick with great cover and ball skills plus he can hit. I'm excited to watch him develop.
-
All we can do is cross our fingers. Hope everything works out for him.

I would love to see how they ruin hockey uniforms.

Bubba loaded up on DL because we he got here we didn't have much for quality DL. After that he loaded up on LBs. Now he's loading up the secondary. Seems really obvious to build in the trenches first and then move your way to LBs then DBs but others don't seem to get it. Bubba gets it.
-
I disagree. The length makes it more dynamic and implies movement without being corny.

Anyone notice they said Holm ran a 4.38 40 at camp last summer?
-
Anyone notice the surprises today? Yeah me neither. I remember always being on pins and needles on this day with Mussman because it always seemed like 3-4 guys never showed up. Bubba Maurice and crew have it figured out and guys are buying in.
-
I don't think he has the shake that Santiago has though.

Nguon was just called "my dark horse" by Maurice. It sounds like we offered very late, probably as a result of Grady leaving, and ended up with a possible hidden gem. Cool story in that his dad is from Cambodia.
