Sorry all! Been out of the loop for a few days. UND's Census Day enrollment came in at 14,172 -- 296 students more than Census Day 2022, about 2.13 percent higher. Inside the numbers, UND also saw increases in new freshman, new transfers, new grad students, as well as total undergrad and total grad.
Headcount is up. How's FTE?

Crumbl does very well in Bismarck. Their cookies are expensive, so I don't think they really need to sell a LOT to turn a profit. Most of those 70 employees will be part-time kids working a few hours per week.

Exactly, he was a jerk and now they’re seeing the results of the direction he and the current president have taken NDSU.
The current ndsu president, Cook, seems like he might be pretty good. We'll see how he holds up against Fargo. Chapman and Bresciani were both slimeballs.

Quick question, so what has already been approved and what still needs approval/funding?
State approved $82 million for upgrading the science and engineering buildings (basically whatever UND chooses) and has indicated they'll approve around $80 million in 2025 for a new STEM building, assuming the economy doesn't tank. For both those numbers, 70% is state funds and 30% local.

Bismarck and Minot both received quite a bit of state $$ for children's science centers. Guessing Grand Forks is attempting to position itself for similar funding.

Get Denks, or whoever owns that farmstead and land south of the Alerus, to finally see and build a baseball stadium there and bring back baseball!!
I believe the city owns all the land around that farmstead now (and maybe the farmstead itself, too). Danks had the land a bit farther south, but I think he passed, so I'm not sure who currently owns it.

Are they knocking down the others too? What are they putting in the place of the dorm or dorms?
Walsh quad will be green space until they come up with another use for it.

Is that an opinion ... or are you making the claim some made about third floor west wing?
Opinion on them tearing down Walsh. Living in that place was a rite of passage.

Solution to most issues-
NIL Collective
I want to win yesterday. Giving to a specific player could be an immediate impact.(Like maybe drop $20K to the Wisconsin RB that went to the Cats) NIL Collective helps-
1. Recruiting and talent - yep (take the Jacks/Bison roster, switch a few star players with UND and everything changes) I am saying we are 4-5 high level players away most seasons.
2. Bubba - yep (coaches look smarter with better players)
3. Athletic Department Funding - Create the wins and the funding will come
We should focus on the NIL paying for players 1st and the rest will follow. I have given my 2 cents to the athletic department and FB staff. There is some communication challenges but nobody really follows them. (like how does the Collective know what player to target/pay without someone telling them) Show me a squeaky clean Title 9 and no NIL school and most times I'll show you a perennial .500 program.
Concerns re: locker room issues stemming from money being directed only to certain players?

EERC is now up to $3.75 million per year in noncompetitive state funding. Still a ways to go to catch up to NDSU's $55 million for transportation and agricultural research, which they leverage to secure additional grants.

Big difference between UNI and UNC, the dakotas barely belong on the same level as UNI
UNI is a regional university and the Dakotas are national universities, so yes, they don't belong on the same level.

Probably not far off.

Hopefully it's full-time for just a year or 2. Not sure what a repatriation professional would do once there are no more remains to repatriate.

It's a 365 day a year position, correct? They referenced ONE situation.
Didn't they find a lot of remains on campus?

What was the reason for that? Accreditation?
That may have been the threat.

@forksandspoons was the first to spot and post this in the football forum, but I thought it should be seen here as well. Great news!

Would it? Sure the guy is coming from Wisconsin, but when I tried to pull up the depth chart I didn't see him on it. I get it is Wisconsin and he is probably sitting behind some decent players but still. Looking at his career stats, I don't see anything that jumps out at me here. FBS dropdowns can be hit or miss like any other transfer. Obviously it would be great if he committed and it worked out and maybe it will, but there is nothing that makes me think this would be a guy to fill Hoosman's shoes. The Northern Michigan kid seemed to have proven more, and that would have been a bit more exciting to me.
But who know, sometimes it is just the right kid, in the right place with the right offense.
Did you watch his highlights video? Can't put too much stock in highlights, but the fact he was playing meaningful downs in B1G games tells me he probably has potential for us.

They need to change the name of NDUS to USND
the first is too much like ndsu
Reporters don't know how numbers work and they've been distracted by book bans, transgender hormone bans, and other juicy cultural issues.

Really? did UND get an extra 5 million as well when it was going through it?
if they did get an additional 5 million to help, and UND did not, I guess that goes a long way in my thinking of whether or not the state legislature has a favorite. That’s tough to hear.
If I recall about 8-10 years ago state institution(s) were given the opportunity to raise money with a match from the state. I’m a bit hazy on this as I’m getting older, but at the time the state put up the parameters that was not to be used towards athletics. I believe 2 schools did not adhere to that, one was NDSU, the other Dickinson State…. I’m not sure anything came of that either, I know DSU has had a ton of issues beyond that. I believe if it had been UND doing it that way, things would have been on DEFCON with media coverage and various outrage. When it comes to similar situations, it seems one school gets the benefit of the doubt far more often.
I realize that with the Med School, Law, Aviation, Business etc, UND has been incredibly fortunate with what it has received from the state, however it seems it certain instances that UND either gets slightly different treatment(perceived or actual) than it’s neighbor to the south.
When UND was really cutting in 2017 the state didn't have any money either, so no. They did give UND an extra $2 million in 2019 to get the law school on track.

Being able to point to a guy like Hoosman coming in and completely flipping his professional prospects has to help.

Here we are in May, and I have heard little to none about the budget challenges that had been facing NDSU. I’ve heard barely a peep. In fact, their equestrian team that was on the chopping block made nationals.
For all the “dark days are ahead” talk or thoughts. It doesn’t seem to have gone that way, at least you hear very little about anything too serious. Comparatively, when UND was going through it, there were stories daily, sometimes more than one… rampant speculation from supporters, haters of all sorts, and yet in my observation, this situation it would seem has been little more than a speed bump for NDSU.
It’s interesting to see how different a feel of a budget cut situation has been from one place to the other. Maybe I’ve missed some of it, but it sure feels far different than when UND had to go through things.
Legislature gave them an extra $5 million to bail them out.
