  1. Finally the relaxed hip pizza joint/bar of Rhombus Guys - I recommend this joint as you can relax on the rooftop, order some pizza, get a drink at the rooftop bar, and watch some sports on the projector under the stars....and then easily walk half a block to Sledsters, a small bar with a decent sized crowd.

Sledsters also has the 10 shots for $20 deal. I recommend not doing this unless you are with several friends.

  2. I do agree with you on this one. Right now the best of the 3 you mentioned is Anderson. He is not forcing anything and taking very good shots. He has improved so much over last year. Huff and Webb still have alot of improving to do but have the potential to be very good in the Big Sky. They both should shoot less from the outside and penetrate and if the lane is not open dish. My main concern in the Big Sky for the next 2 years with this sophomore class will be the loss of MItchell. We have nobody at this point that will even come close to replacing him and no scholarships available. That is a huge hole and if we dont find somebody quick we will be alot worse in the final 2 years for this class which will be a shame.

Sioux2013, I'm sorry to say this; just because we have been getting along lately; but honestly, Nothing against Anderson, but he is not the best talent out the 3 guards. Huff is the best "talent", just is having a bit of a rough first half of the season. And then I think Webb is next. Anderson is a good player, who is happening to shoot better from the field and 3point percentage. And I'm not saying that because, Huff is my "boy" as u call it, but any coach would pick Huff over Snderson, because of the different aspects of his game. Webb is a scoring point guard who can finish with contact. I love all 3, and they will all compliment each other over the years. And yes, replacing Mitchell will be tough. Was hoping Allard would fill that void. : /

Sioux2013 never mentioned who the most talented player on the team is. I have no doubt that Huff would be very good in 1-on-1 or a pick-up game, but he is struggling to play with the team right now. There is a difference between being a very talented basketball player and being a good basketball player.... something for you and Huff to think about.

  3. It's linked in his link: http://www.scribd.co...U-Wim-to-Kelley

Here's what I take from that email:

    1. The Big Sky Presidents have been meeting/discussing the Sioux nickname issue.

    2. The Big Sky Presidents are concerned about the Sioux nickname.

    3. The PSU President informed President Kelley of these discussions.

    4. President Kelley responded to the PSU President to reassure him (and the other Big Sky Presidents) that the issue would be resolved.

    5. In an effort to calm the other Big Sky Presidents, President Kelley had to be clear and confident about what he (along with the rest of the sane people in North Dakota) believed would come about as a result of the meeting with the NCAA (nothing new).

  4. There is one hotel attached to the stadium, the Canad Inn, which is very nice and has a few bars inside of it. There is also another new hotel that is just about to open in the stadium parking lot, a Springfield Marriot, I believe.

Tailgaiting goes on all day in the parking lot.

The hotel in the parking lot is a Sleep Inn, it was built as a cheaper alternative to staying at the Canad Inn. The Canad Inn has a couple decent bars in it. If you're looking for a louder/more vibrant scene you will want to go downtown. The best hotel for downtown would probably be the Townhouse. I've never stayed at the Townhouse, but it's an easy walk to the downtown bars. The Alerus Center/Canad Inn are about as far away from downtown as you can get in Grand Forks, but it's still not a bad drive/cab ride.

  5. Disagree, YSU out executed us all game. Their QB was on fire...few will say otherwise.

Care to refute the rest of my statement (I threw in the YSU comment as a joke, but I understand that humor in text form is often difficult to decipher, especially with all the people on the internet who make statements like that and actually believe them)? And I'm not trying to attack you here or anything, just acknowledging that both fan bases think they are better known than they really are.

  6. I think this argument derives from NDSU fans screaming that the Bison are more well known than the Sioux due to their unbeatable football program (Youngstown St didn't beat NDSU, NDSU just played bad and lost). What most NDSU fans won't admit is that on a national scale, nobody cares about FCS football. Now, before you even bring it up, outside the large hockey markets (ND, MN, WI, MI, and the Northeast), few people really care about hockey either.

  7. FCS is the new D2, just look at all the schools in FCS and where they used to be. D2 is the new D3/NAIA with schools like Minot, Sioux Falls, Crookston, and Black Hills State moving up to D2. To deny these facts makes one look pretty dumb. Yes it's a "D1" championship.... but it really isn't any more impressive than a D2 championship was 30 years ago (which NDSU won several of... so congrats).

  8. I just did some mapping and it's actually a shorter drive from Miami (OH) to minneapolis than to omaha, never would've guessed it. And you're definitely right about $$ being the top factor. Now then, I just read the opening post in its entirety and saw that the Target Center is bidding to be the host. Holding it at the Target Center would initially worry me because of the fact the operations people aren't used to running a hockey game out of the place. Ice conditions could become a factor if the place isn't set up properly and that would really suck. Also could be some scheduling conflicts resulting in them not getting the ice set up as early as they should, which would result in poor conditions. I'm not sure if the designers of the Target Center had hockey in mind when they built the place, but I have little knowledge on the subject (other than what wikipedia has to offer :glare: )

  9. I like Denver but I am biased since I live here. I can say from experience that when the Sioux play down here it is safe to assume almost half of the building will be Sioux fans.

Is this in reference to the Pepsi Center or DU's arena? Comparing excitement and travel for the conference tournament to the 2008 Frozen Four is risky in my opinion (although Sioux fans have been owning the final five of late).

  10. if the nchc can get the X there would be no reason to rotate the tourney

Good point, but the other schools may not like having the touney in Minneapolis every year because it gives an advantage to UND and UMD (and Jan Brady State University (SCSU) whenever they make the tourney).

  11. CenturyLink Center. Seats 16,680 for hockey.

But I think if it's going to be held at a school's home rink then it should rotate between schools.

Thanks. As for rotating venues.... did holding the WCHA final 5 at the X really give UM less of a home ice advantage than holding it at Mariucci? I guess I'd be happy with a rotation between the X and Omaha, but I'd think tourneys in Denver and Michigan would see low attendance.

  12. Here it is

    http://www.mhec.org/MSEPDescription

Please Note: The Illinois Board of Higher Education formally endorsed MSEP in December 2006, but the program did not go into effect until individual Illinois institutions elected to participate. Current MSEP institutions will began offering MSEP rates to all Illinois students admitted under MSEP after August 15, 2011. Campuses in all participating states are not required to "grandfather" in students admitted prior to this date.

  13. I'm surprised there's no reciprocity with Illinois.

    North Dakota has reciprocity with:

Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin through Midwest Student Exchange Program.

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, South Dakota, Utah, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming through Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education. (The bold are Big Sky Conference states.)

    .

I have read that Illinois recently joined the Midwest Student Exchange Program (Effective August 2011). I'll see if I can find it documented somewhere.

  14. So if NDSU had a better recruiting class, wouldn't they have better players, and a better team, and better success against a team that apparently doesn't recruit as well as them like UND?? Well maybe in your mind they have had better recruiting classes, but the results on the field in 8 of the last 11 meetings prove otherwise!

    Irony

    1. The use of words to convey a meaning that is opposite of its literal meaning.

    Synonyms

1, 2. Irony, sarcasm, satire indicate mockery of something or someone. The essential feature of irony is the indirect presentation of a contradiction between an action or expression and the context in which it occurs. In the figure of speech, emphasis is placed on the opposition between the literal and intended meaning of a statement; one thing is said and its opposite implied, as in the comment, "Beautiful weather, isn't it?" made when it is raining or nasty.

  15. You presume a lot if you call beating the AC an "upset". North Dakota should be favored every time we play just because "we are North Dakota and they are the AC". Feel bad for them but that's the way it is.

Everyone has it figured out except Gene Taylor. They would have had a reasonable chance to "upset" us the past few years during our transition. Recruiting is going well and we made great strides this year. Playing field is rapidly leveling now with transition over and Big Sky in our future.

I believe Ole was referring to how Moo U creates excitement for their program by scheduling and beating (upsetting??) the goofers. Not that beating the Minny football team is that great of an accomplishment (see South Dakota in 2010).

  16. Because the school is underfunded. 'Nough said.

NDSU gives out over $15 million in tuition waivers, whereas UND gives closer to $8 million. Looks to me like NDSU should look at their own practices before crying to the state for more money. Also, UND has the Med School, Law School, and the School of Aviation. These programs are much more expensive than interior design, casino operations, and the other tech school majors NDSU has to offer.
