Does he really think he and his opinion represents all of the tribal members? He makes it sound like there is no support on Spirit Lake for the Sioux nickname.

Am I racist if his diatribe now makes me like the new logo even less?

If there was a geography split I have always liked the following

Big Sky Conf / Mountain Division

Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, North Dakota, Northern Colorado and Weber State

Pacific Coast Conf / Pacific Division

Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Sacramento State, Southern Utah and UC Davis.

Pretty balanced and it keeps the founding members (Weber, Montana, Montana State, Idaho State, Idaho) together.

That would be a nice division.

  3. The biggest hurdle with an east/west or north/south split feels like the traditionally powerful teams (Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington, and now Idaho and hopefully UND) would mostly be together, while the teams that are more often the not-so-powerful (for example Weber, Sac State, UC Davis, and maybe Idaho State) would be in the other half.

If you look at it that way, a Big Sky/WAC reorg makes more sense.

I believe that they took Nokota off the list also - advising against it....

People who did not know the difference between a Nokota feral horse and the Nakota Native Americans made a decision based on their own ignorance. Does that sound like any other group you have heard of, for example, one that arbitrarily sets rules that apply to one 'small' school but not several other large revenue sources?

Zonadub brought up NDSU which prompted the NDSU talk on this thread, but I guess you can blame me.

    Guilty.

I pledge not to post about an ag school 70 miles south of Grand Forks for a minimum of 1 week. (But that won't be as tough for me since Darrell has about 12 X as many posts as I do)

  6. As for your comment that Schaefer threw everyone under the bus - he had nothing to do or say about the process that ROK put in place. Schaefer was not president and only had one vote like the rest of us. His comment reflects the sentiment of many that the selected nickname is not unique.

I have to admit, I'm still trying to figure out how UND ended up with the Fighting Hawks nickname. Have come to the conclusion that it was the Ivall logo that people thought would be the new UND logo plus people who thought at least the 'Fighting' part of Fighting Sioux name would remain.

7 home games including a playoff game, vs 5 home games for UND.

Wasn't about Coastal having 500 more... Was about going FBS with less than 9000 per game average.

"Average" attendance would not rely on # of games. "Total" attendance would be easier to inflate with two more games. ;)

So let see about Coastal Carolina.

Joined the Sun Belt on September 1st, 2015.

Will play as an FCS independent in fall of 2016, but will otherwise play a Sun Belt schedule.

Will be a transitional FBS school in fall of 2017.

After a second transitional season in 2018, there are eligible for a bowl after that season.

Coastal has a smaller stadium, a much smaller endowment, and a smaller enrollmentioned the UND, but they can still go FBS.  Their stadium will be expanded to 15k  (original plans of 24k which was vetoed by the state.).

The Big Sky move would for all its teams that want FBS will be just a year behind.

And their average attendance was 8818 last year.

    (500 more than UND)

  9. It appears NDSU didn't make the long list of potential Big 12 expansion candidates. :D

The three best candidates for those two slots are currently BYU, Cincinnati and Connecticut, but this could change after the data from Navigate Research is analyzed. Houston and Memphis are considered legitimate contenders, but remain on the outside looking in. (Credit Houston for making a move the past few months to insert itself into the conversation, as they've generated some momentum.) The long shots are South Florida, Central Florida, Boise State and Colorado State. Temple, San Diego State and Northern Illinois don't really have a pulse.

So, I see that the June 1st deadline has come and gone without any Big Sky schools filing the necessary re-classification paperwork with the NCAA. Care to admit that you were wrong yet again?

    Is it 2018 already?

    Wow! That was fast.

    What?

University of Wisconsin, not Wisconsin-Green Bay

University of Minnesota, not Minnesota State University Moorhead

University of Nebraska, not Nebraska - Omaha

it would be University of North Dakota - Fargo, or something like that

it's just a joke. Emoticons don't seem to translate from iPad.

The end result would still be incorrect.  In 1943 it was not remotely close to being done...the writing was only on the wall.

You can't miss on predictions that bad and proclaim "See, I was right all along."

The end result -winning the war - is correct. The frontal assault on Berlin is correct.

the submarine victory in Tokyo is not the right battle. It took a couple more years to end it. (SV's stated date is 2018)

the war being won - the goal - was correct. So, I would contend that the prediction was (would be) correct.

again, personally, I think it is a long shot at best, but, speaking of long shots, who would have bet that UND would get a Big Sky invite after NDSU had been turned down (twice!?) ?

by the way, for all the bison posters out there, iirc, SV has always said NDSU would be invited to join an FBS Big Sky.

In 1943 SV could predict "Allies to win WWII." He could toss in that the US will drop a new type of devastating bomb, a hydrogen bomb, on Tokyo, to break the Japanese will.

In 1945 many would point out SV's "hydrogen / Tokyo" was wrong, but miss out on giving credit for predicting the surrender by the Axis powers.

Not to nitpick but by 1943 the war was already decided.  That wouldn't be some bold prediction by any means.

So, if he had predicted that the war could be won by 1943 in 1941, by the allies coming up with a submarine attack on Tokyo and a frontal assault on Berlin, would he still be wrong?

The end result is correct, but the method of success and the date were not exactly correct.

    What line would that be?

There quite a bit of descension over there on many different topics. You dont have near the disagreements here as opposed to BV.

So you think I really care just because it takes one tenth of a second to click and move on while surfing the net?You seem to care more that I dont care.

What line? Don't know. Don't go there 'cause I truly don't care. :D

We are fretting????  We care????   Nope its called entertainment. Same reason most others are here as well.  Plus at times there is a pretty good exchanges of information, insight and ideas.

Now considering how many times SV and others quote off of BV have you ever seen me ask why you care or why you are fretting over whats posted on BV? No. Why? Because I dont care if you visit to read or post which some do. Its an open forum and you have to really be a douchenoddle to get your hand slapped over there.

Y'all are here pretty regularly to claim you don't care. Just today, on this page, you have logged on three separate times

As long as you toe the bisonville line... Right?

Will the team be invited this summer?

    Back to the original question...

not unless there is a black gay/lgbt player or coach that comes out of the closet this summer.

Mods ----- I am willing to accept my time-out for that one. :D
