I get your point 'dub, but, reality is, out here in East Flyover there's only a few teams to play. A bunch of teams from West Flyover are going to end up on your schedule to fill it because they have the inverse problem. So does it really matter if you're a matter of Conference East Flyover or Conference West Flyover?

But isn't this the conference that paired Grand Forks and Vermillion, Fort Wayne and Omaha? ...

    UND/NDSU, SDSU/Augie, USD/Omaha <-- there's a tight six pack for a division of a conference.

    Then again, ...

Montana/Montana State, EWU/Idaho, Weber State/Denver would be another reasonably tight six. (WSU/Denver would be flight but it's SLC/DEN.)

DU and Omaha have no FB. Pretty sure Augie is going to do something with theirs (Pioneer League?). If that were to happen there's 12 BB, 9 FB. Hmmm, that works really well for scheduling.

Not unless they hire someone who can read a map. :D

You could be right. But there are a lot of low level G5 FBS teams in Michigan and MVFC teams that recruit Michigan hard, and his only offer was D2. Not even any PWO's. Not saying he won't work out, but there must be a reason no one else offered. He wasn't under the radar if he was playing in the largest class in Michigan.

Maybe because he is 6'1" not 6'4"...

  4. Th MAC and Sun Belt are the schools that are in the most trouble. If the level of a new WAC matches, but does not exceed them, the benefit of moving up is questionable. I think the list of schools you have laid out, however would be a great conference if you could actually pull it together.

So, with that avatar, you've got a thing against birds?

Busted. Good one, Sica. However, I didn't call for the UND teams to be called the roadrunners. Had a coyote avatar (also the Warner Bros cartoon character) first, but got confused as being a South Dakota Coyote on this board. Just a tip of the cap to the local wildlife where we now live.

Well, they get chased because they ate their babies, so that’s kind of badass.

Not sure eating babies is badass

every time someone complains about the new logo/name...........it......could....have been worse!!!!

You are correct. It could have ... been... The Fighting Dave K's or the Firing Darells. :D

  6. After a couple of years with the new nickname, I still cannot refer to the teams as Fighting Hawks. First, if it had to be an animal, why a bird? If it had to be a bird, why the 321st rendition of a hawk? Heck there are Red Hawks playing baseball in Fargo and Blue Hawks playing NAIA in Dickinson. And then, if it had to be a hawk, why the modifier "fighting"? Hawks don't fight, in real life hawks are often chased and harassed by little birds. They try to get away.

I did buy a Fighting Hawks headcover for 1 of my golf clubs to go with the old interlocking ND ones. Still not particularly fond of the name.

Also have a set of Brien logo headcovers, bought at the end of the Fighting Sioux era, that may make an appearance one of these days.

24 pages and still rolling. I believe my point was made.

Since your reading comprehension is lacking, I would point to the title of this thread, which clearly indicates the intent is for the thread to continue until the September 2019 game and very probably beyond. 24 pages comes nowhere close to 2000.

Iowa is top 5 FBS Rudy-esque offenses, too.  How they tanked one for the Turd I will never forgive them!!

Hey, that kind of sounds like UND under Bubba.

One really good season, one really bad season, and otherwise a bunch of average seasons.

Certainly better than a collection of losing seasons, though.

Gundy did call it Rudy-esque. :D

Get blown out by FU? Do something about it and play better.

You can't be the best if you can't beat the best, which starts by actually playing the best. Just so happens that the best FCS program in the history of FCS football is only 80 miles from the University of North Dakota.

I have no problem playing UND's biggest rival on the road two times in a row. UND had no leverage and needed to do that in order to get it scheduled.

Something worth bitching about is how UND performed in the 2015 game. That needs to improve. Also, I think it is worth bitching about how UND has to play in Fargo again in 2020. Why couldn't UND play NDSU in Grand Forks in 2020? The MVFC schedule screwed UND over more than Bubba and Faison did by scheduling the game for 2015 and 2019.

This may have also been part of the price of admission to the MVFC

I'll take the team that doesn't constantly choke in the first round and goes further in the season.

13-10 with a March Madness birth all day long. But to each their own.

As you go down the list of "less popular sports" among NCAA schools (below Football and Mens basketball) it becomes easier to win by the "smaller schools." It's why Duluth can win a D1 title in hockey. It's why Coastal Carolina can win a championship in baseball,  Akron can win a championship in Soccer, and University of Portland in Women's Soccer.

And Denver can win a DI lacrosse and too many national hockey championships.

Can we just for once have QB like Easton Stick?  Kid is a stud

There were a few balls that were seriously under thrown, yet their receivers managed to slow down/turn around and make the catch. iirc - as many under thrown as he had were he put it in the receivers hands and they did not have to break their stride. He has good wheels, but was not all that impressed with his arm.

It's not the qb, it's how the team plays as a team that is so impressive. Someone on here - Sica, Geaux, Oxbow, not sure who it was... said its not the they do anything complicated, but their execution is so gpod.
