Ah yes, student athletes certainly deserve to lose their opportunity to play collegiate athletics because other people 15 years ago did something legal that others didn't like. Makes perfect sense.
At what point does UND deserve karma for having a benefactor who held a nazi memorabilia party? Or is that different because it's UND?

Didn’t the admission scandal at USC involve the women’s rowing team? Wasn’t that the “in” for Lori Laughlin’s and Felicity Huffman’s daughters?

We didn’t have a true deep threat. Having one of those opens up a whole world of possibilities for an offense.
Maybe the narrative would be different if Ketteringham didn’t overthrow almost every deep pass he attempted

Have to ‘set the stage’ like UND did with baseball. Seems to me that there are more men’s athletic opportunities being cut now in anticipation of cutting a women’s sport down the road (possibly sooner than later)

So who will be Bubba’s Idaho State in the MVFC? Missouri State or Western Illinois?

Also, what is concerning to me is that tweet that Chaves put out. I understand the financial issues we face and it may not be an option to fire Bubba but don’t tweet that you look forward to building on the success that Bubba has had. Bubba should be on a very short leash, it makes Chaves look foolish supporting this type of mediocrity and makes me question his thought process.
Too much time left in Bubba’s contract. If he leaves (especially now), it will have to be his choice. Either retirement or moving into an ancillary (think fundraising and baby kissing) position. Chaves is just bound by what happened after Bubba was given the extension following the first playoff appearance, Big Sky co-championship and Coach of the Year. And, at the time, most, if not all, of the posters in this forum thought it was a good thing. ... At the time.

Doesn't the hockey team has their own food program? Not starting a hockey vs football war but couldn't there be some cross over between programs?
If 52% of football revenues go to REA, then why aren’t the other athletes (all UND athletes) in that food program?

you are right. That is a dumb question. But the answer is the same as the reason there isn't a bug in the visitors locker room in the Alerus or the Fargodome. Maybe I am wrong. There may be UND staff member or an NDSU staff member holding an empty glass to the door of the visitors locker room at halftime. Who knows. While I get the locker room situation may not be ideal, I have heard some former college players saying they would gladly take a very spacious tent right next to the stadium over some very small cramped visitor locker rooms a 5 minute walk from the stadium.
Hanging around a tent is not the same thing as putting a glass to a door. That’s a dumber answer to my dumb question.

I know this is a dumb question, but how is there sound-proofing of the tent so that Nicholls can’t eavesdrop on pre-game and halftime strategy between the coaches and the team.

Has anyone done a search to find out how much Northern Iowa and/or Illinois State bid? It would seem that they should be UND’s most probable unseeded opponents.
Or is it that UND was considered #8 or #9 in the unseeded field. That would translate into the second round game being at NDSU. Also, it would put the Hawks at about #16 or #17 in the entire field, which also seems about right.
Just having a difficult time blaming Chaves on the bid amount. This is not his first rodeo and he would have had experience at EWU in submitting bids. The flip side of that is EWU probably only had to make the minimum bid, since they have been seeded most of the time.
And, finally, why is Nichols even allowed to host playoff games? This is so much more egregious than having a Native American nickname. The locker room situation is apparently not a new development. No wonder they are undefeated at home.

Not having a conference ‘mate’ in the room may still leave UND as one of the first 4 out. Unless Chaves has some pull with either the Big Sky of MVFC rep, or hopefully both, I don’t expect that there will be much lobbying to include the Hawks.

I worry the "we need 12 east and 12 west schools" mindset will enter and it won't help UND.
Depends on where the “west” begins. But, yeah, I don’t expect the selection committee to do anything to get UND in. The Hawks have to show they belong with their on-field performance tomorrow.

That is 2018 SRS rankings. You had me worried for a minute and then saw that E Wash was #4 and figured there was a problem.

Whew!
On the other hand, UND is #27 in both the Coach’s poll and Stats and dropped a spot last week after a narrow win over UNC. SUU probably still hovering around 100. My premise still stands.
A long way to climb against a lowly ranked team

I have to believe the use of any computer ranking system will be beneficial for UND's chances this year.
This guy is also a big fan of quality losses.
Have you checked the FCS SRS rankings?UND is #38
It’s a long climb to the top 20 against #106, even if you step on their throat.

Yes. It does, the committee will take ewu over und in that scenario every time. They were in the National championship last year. Und fans don’t think that matters, but the rest of the country does.
ewu also has a conference with a chair at the selection table. Und doesn’t
Hate to admit he’s right. Pedigree matters in subjective selections. EWU and MSU have the history. UND doesn’t.
i just have no trust in the selection committee.

UND would be in 6th place if the Big Sky Conference standings included UND. If Montana State beats Montana, they would be 6 - 2 in the conference (including the loss to UND) and 9 - 3 overall. Their non-conference loss is to FCS Texas Tech. Meanwhile, UND with a win next weekend would be the equivalent of 5 - 3 in the ‘conference’ and 7 - 4 overall. And most likely, the equivalent of 6th in the Big Sky.
Will the selection committee will look at UND as a quasi-BSC team? If they do, that would be 6 of 24 teams (1/4 of the field) coming from the Big Sky. There will be 5 from the MVFC and the automatic qualifiers. Is there room for a 7 - 4 UND? Not having a 12th game may come in to play and cost UND in the end. 8 - 4 would certainly look better to the committee.
