Thank goodness we have players that are versatile (Gleason), without players willing to play out of position this team would really be hurting with all of these injuries.

I watched highlights from their last game, looks like Duncan and Hextall are even the on the same line. Gregoire should have signed with Phoenix then the Gregoire-Duncan-Hextall could be reunited from 07-08.

In the article it states that "Beer Grandma" thinks it is a big thrill to be apart of this tradition at the Ralph, she says people her age rarely get an opportunity to be known in the community, which I think is very true. Let the lady have some excitement, it is not hurting anyone, no one else thinks its an issue but you Pres. Kelley.

I think we need to keep giving starts to both goalies until someone runs away with the job, competition will push both of them.

I did not watch the game but I talked to people who did and they told me that most of Duluth's shots were from long distances. I can't remember one time last year that our team, IMO easily the best team in the country, came close to 50 shots last year. Even if half of Duluth's shots were from above the top of the circles, 25 shots were still taken from a decent scoring area. Allowing 50 shots, no matter the quality, is a HUGE issue. Not only that the Gophers put up 16 shots that same game. How does a team get outshot by 34 and win the game? I admit the Gophers are improved this year, but those shot totals do not show me that the Gopher team is ready to compete for a Frozen Four like their fan base is proclaiming.

To be honest, I would take MacWilliam's third penalty any time whatsoever, yes I know it lead to the game tying goal, but it was the biggest hit of the game. That kind of hit, which was clean, the penalty was called for interference as the puck was a few feet past the puck carrier, sends a message. The next time that player comes across the middle of the ice, the hit will be in the back of his mind which could lead to fumbled pucks, turnovers, etc. He needs to keep it up as long as he keeps it clean and the hit doesn't bring him too far out of position.

Does anyone know why Jack Rowe has not been playing at all for Cedar Rapids?
-
I agree that we could have used Cichy this year, possibly Bruneteau as well, he is Vermont's first line center right now.
-
Wow that is too bad about Trupp, I did not see him play in any preseason or regular season games so I was curious what happened to him. I wonder what the extent of the injury is.
-
Does anyone know what is up with Evan Trupp? He is no longer listed on Cincinatti's (ECHL) roster, did he get cut? Traded? Called up to the AHL?

Corban Knight already broke Zach Parise's season faceoff percentage last year, now he is upped the ante even more and is currently holding a 72% proficiency in the faceoff circle this year, over 12 points higher than his school record.

Its crazy how early departures and lost recruits can affect the dynamic of a team, we go from having a deep, extremely skilled forward group that could contend for a National title right away to an extremely inexperienced, "work in progress" type of team. Compare these two forward lineups What could have been: Gregoire-Knight-Hextall MacMillan-Nelson-Kristo Miller-Rowney-Grimaldi O'Donnell-Lamoureux-Rodwell What is: MacMillan-Knight-Kristo Lamoureux-Nelson-Grimaldi Rodwell-Rowney-Parks O'Donnell-Pattyn-Dickin

I agree that Grimaldi is the missing link for this team, the difference between him in the lineup and him out of it is huge. I think it will basically be the difference between having two consistent scoring lines compared to one. The MacMillan-Knight-Kristo will score, but something seems missing on that second line, Parks and Lamoureux are hard workers but aren't really skilled enough to keep up with Nelson, thats where Grimaldi fits in. I would like to see a second line of O'Donnell-Nelson-Grimaldi, once healthy I think Grimaldi will step right in to being an elite player in the WCHA which will allow O'Donnell to be eased into things a bit more as Nelson and Grimaldi carry the load until he becomes accustomed to the game. Him and MacMillan could become very good players for the Sioux down the road.

Injuries are playing a big role early in the season, one more injury to a forward and a defenseman will have to play out of position. Hopefully Grimaldi heals up quickly and St. Clair's Clearinghouse Issue is resolved ASAP.

I wonder if Gleason was the defenseman that was banged up a little last weekend, Panzarella is in for him and Mattson moves up to play with MacWilliam. It will be interesting to see how well he does with Top-4 minutes. Grimaldi is out again, Eidsness is starting in net. Lines changed up a bit with Nelson centering the 2nd line now, I think this is ideal to balance out the scoring especially when Rocco is back. I don't expect the 4th line to get much playing time, I would like to see O'Donnell on the 3rd line instead of Dickin. Here is the lineup per Brad's twitter. MacMillan-Knight-Kristo Lamoureux-Nelson-Parks Dickin-Rowney-Rodwell O'Donnell-Pattyn-Gaarder Forbort-Blood MacWilliam-Mattson Panzarella-Simpson Eidsness Dell Maris Out: Senkbeil, Grimaldi, St. Clair, Gleason

Just watched "Through These Doors", it will be very interesting to follow throughout the year. One note, either Grimaldi takes his gear off extremely fast or he is still not practicing. Hopefully we see him at 100% this weekend.

Looks like Jordan Schmaltz and Stefan Matteau are both having good starts to their seasons. Cross your fingers that we can get both on campus, alot can happen in a year. http://unitedstatesofhockey.com/2011/10/12/american-prospect-update-early-standouts-in-ushl-play/#more-1934

Anyone else think that their is a possibilty that Gleason could be moved up to forward again this year? I know he has looked solid at defense so far this year but with the early injuries and the St. Clair issue we are looking pretty thin at forward, plus I think Panzarella would be a more than capable 5 or 6 d-man.
-
I like your combo's, the only thing I would change is switching Parks and MacMillan, Hakstol has stated in interviews that MacMillan should play a largo role on this team as a freshman Kristo-Knight-Grimaldi MacMillan-Nelson-Rodwell O'Donnell-Rowney-Parks Dickin-Lamoureux-St. Clair D pairings stay the same, those first two pairs will be seeing a lot of ice time this year.
-
Thanks, I was looking at the 2011 spreadsheet instead, I figured they would still be on their seeing as both Thompson and Nick Schmaltz were on their for 2013 and 2014 recruits.

Official roster is now up with updated heights and weights. Once again it looks like our defensemen will be very big, Gleason is the only one under 6' tall. Blood lost weigh, maybe we will notice him being more mobile on the ice this year. Dan Senkbeil is a big guy, 6'4 215 freshman, I wonder how much we will see him on the ice this year. Brock grew an inch and is now 6'4 192. Brendan O'Donnell comes in as a very thick freshman, he is 6'0 200. Looks like Dell had a big summer, moving up to 209 lbs from 191.

Does anyone know why Brad hasn't added Luke Voltin and Luke Johnson to the Committed Recruits tab on his blog? Heisenberg doesn't have either listed on his recruiting spreadsheet either.
