  1. Sounds like Kristo put on quite the show at Montreal's prospect camp scrimmage today. He was named 1st star of the game, and by all accounts was far and away the best player in the game which included several prospects with extended NHL time.
  2. I think no matter what, the proven guys, Kristo, Knight, Rowney, Parks, MacMillan, and Grimaldi start in the Top-6, everyone else tries to play their way into those spots. I realize Grimaldi isn't NCAA "proven", but he has proven himself at lower levels more than anyone else has, and I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't produce at this level.
  3. Oh I realize that, my point is just trying to show how good a 60 goal season in the BCHL really is.
  4. I hope so, I'm kind of wondering if Mitch was of misused at SCSU. He scored 61 goals and had 93 points his last year in the BCHL. That kind of goal scoring ability doesn't just disappear. I realize for some players their points don't translate to the NCAA, but going from 61 goals in a solid league to 4 goals in 2 years? That is a monumental drop off in production. I am being cautiously optimistic with Mitch MacMillan. If he doesn't work out it doesn't really matter, if it does we could have a very good player on our hands. Just to put things in perspective, Kyle Turris had 66 goals in the BCHL the year he was drafted 3rd overall.
  5. Yes only 10 goals for O'Donnell, I never saw anything out of his game that said to me he would be a good goal-scorer. I think his goal-heavy distribution of points will not be normal for him, he has never scored more goals than he had assists. If you compare his stats in Junior to Mark MacMillan, Mark is the better goal scorer. Not saying it won't happen but I really don't see O'Donnell being a big goal-scorer. I don't know why you say O'Donnell was a bigger recruit than MacMillan. MacMillan has always been more highly touted. Before this past season, when Hakstol was asked which freshman he expected to have the biggest impact besides Grimaldi, each and every time he said MacMillan.
  6. Agree with most everything you said, but I think Kristo and Knight will both have 50+ seasons, Grimaldi could lead this team in scoring as well. We could see a Nelson/Knight type jump from Parks' and MacMillan in their sophomore seasons as well. I really don't see O'Donnell coming anywhere close to 20 goals, I think he will get around 10 and be around 20-30 points.
  7. This is where the amount of playing time Panzarella got this year is invaluable. Even without MacWilliam, we have 5 defenseman (not counting Senkbeil) with at least one full year of playing time under their belts.
  8. I would say good, he can almost be guaranteed a 1-way NHL contract that way. If Toronto wants to keep him, they have to match all offers from other teams.
  9. What have you read that makes him sound like a troublemaker? I'm pretty sure the reason why he got kicked out of the NTDP has never been released, but I know multiple people on this board know what happened.
  10. And it continues......
  11. People are finally realizing what we have known all along. One poster on another site said "with that shot, why was Frattin used in front of the crease on the PP?" I was thinking the exact same thing the whole year.
  12. I really think Kristo gets an A this year, he showed solid leadership last year, and his commitment to the program is impressive. I thought for sure he would have signed after his sophomore year, to get him all 4 years is amazing.
  13. I agree, but I still fully expect both to play around 215-220 in the NHL, which means both have to gain at least another 10+ pounds.
  14. Sounds like a project player, but you can't teach size and he has loads of it. I wouldn't mind if Hakstol offered this kid and let him develop for a few years, later on he might be a good player.
  15. Once Brian Lee got traded to Tampa Bay, he played in every game. He should be a regular next year. But other than him and Matt Greene no defenseman plays regularly. It surprises me as well, but even with out current d-corps, the only player that I can say with relative certainty will have a long NHL career will be Forbort. Simpson, Blood, MacWilliam, and Mattson all have a chance to play in the NHL, but I don't really see any of them becoming more than bottom-pairing player's.
  16. But has he been 15th overall pick good? I really don't think so, even though he was drafted as a project.
  17. I think it is a big part of it.
  18. I don't get why people say all of the CHL is professional. Yes, some of the player's are under NHL contract and have been played to play, but the vast majority do not get paid.
  19. And possibly more to come in future years.
  20. In regards to the CHL education package, all benefits are void if that player signs any sort of pro contract.
  21. One other thing, I have never been to the Target Center for any sort of event, I am assuming they serve alcohol?
  22. Ages of players, 16-20, compared to 18-25, with the majority being over 20 years old, and very few being 18.
  23. Ha no kidding. Take North Dakota out of this tournament and the attendance will be lucky to hit 5000, put UND in this tournament and attendance should be around 15000, possibly higher. For the amount of money that UND fans will be making the other school's, they will have no right to whine about the proposed "North Dakota rule".
  24. Either way, you can park your car at the hotel for the weekend and leave it there. Everything is within walking distance, even the train to MOM.
  25. This was the one issue with having the F5 at the Xcel, unless you booked a hotel 6+ months in advance you would have to drive and then pay for parking. Not that big of a deal, but it becomes a hassle if you want to drink, or need to get something from your room between games.
