Well anyway, the trophy never left GF until Grafton took it home in 1978...
-
I'm heading to Winnepeg at around noon for the Amerks v. Moose game. Should be fun to see Goren play again.
-
I'm not sure anymore...I remember the co-champions game but I thought that game occurred after I graduated from high school in 1979...it's all a blur as old age begins to take hold...

Bimmer Swartz, Robbie Mihulka, and of course Scott Dub...

It takes alot of balls to come on here and talk about prospective Sioux players Larry...whadaya think this is, a Sioux hockey board or something???

After several weeks, the Michigan Daily published my comments to Mr. Holman's article in the feedback section. Just thought I'd state this since I had been critical of them for not publishing the feedback on his article.

And while they may be concerned about what is happening in DI college basketball, only a handful of those will be following the Bison D1 basketball. Certainly more people follow UND hockey than follow Bison basketball. You've fallen off your rocker if you believe otherwise. At times last year, I'm not sure there were 10 people in the country that cared about the Bison men's basketball team and that number includes the coach, the players and a couple of local sports announcers.

What I find nearly impossible to believe is how Bisonguy seems to be totally sincere in his argument - he actually believes that if the Bison win a D1-AA championship they will be the true NCAA champions. What kind of kool-aid do they serve at the Team Makers gatherings anyway? Look, it's common knowledge that the bowl system has been used to determine the National Champion in D1-A for generations and if the Bison were participating in a bowl game to determine the "National Champion", Mr. Bisonguy would not be taking such a ridiculous position. Like I said above, I am anxiously awaiting the Bison - Gopher football game. I'll take the Bison and 50 points. And the Gophers aren't that good. It isn't hard to figure out how NDSU ended up in their current predicament (no conference affiliation, etc.) when their supporters are willing to swallow crap like Bisonguy spews...
-
I'm actually looking forward to watching the Gophers beat NDSU 100-0. That should be a really great game and will really fuel the rivalry. It's so hilarious to read your posts. Really, keep them coming...

The amount of coverage for UND v. NDSU surprized me as well. I mean, who wouldn't want to see the Bison Men's BB team take on Dickinson State or the Bison Women take on Valley City or Mayville. That increased competition they are getting in D-1 is really quite a draw...
-
What needs to be done with $40mm in Fargo is to build more smaller indoor rinks and a "Little Ralph"...not a so-called multi-use entertainment facility that will not be available for practice, etc. You're exactly right about NDSU - they are staying out of it so they don't wreck its chances of passage...the second the proposal is passed (slim chance), they will be pursuing D1 hockey...

Big and can't skate - Grant Potulny comes to mind...I didn't see too many guys blow by Mr. Greene...I do remember a certain Mr. Harrington getting schooled by Mr. Spirko...

"By himself" is stretching it a bit...WCHA hockey is a little more physical than U-17... And for my money, the best USA player on the ice at the WJC's was Drew Stafford. Kessel's a great player tho, no doubt, and was very exciting to watch. Like Dagies says, it will be great to see him move on...Maybe he'll defect and go right to the pros as a replacement player...
-
I've been checking in on the AHL website each day for update on how various former Sioux players and other notable WCHA players are doing. Bochenski is doing well. Bayda is doing great. There are tons of former Sioux players to follow in the playoffs. Too bad we can't pick them up on TV. Anyone know if any games will be televised? Also, it appears that Genoway is not playing in the playoffs. Anyone know why?

A collector of memorabilia is not necessarily a sympathiser. In addition, a settlement was undoubtedly made for business reasons, which should be obvious to someone as smart as you. So where are your facts regarding your allegations? Are you basing them on the above?

Mr. Holman: Why doesn't the Michigan student paper have to huevos to publish my letter or any other letter calling you on your unprofessionalism? I guess it's a one-way street - so much for allowing alternative views. When I was at Michigan this past February, I looked at your student paper and I'm not surprised. You know your audience. But you're way off base and way out of your league. Acknowledging mistakes and weaknesses comes with maturity and confidence. You'll only get there if you drop the "superior" attitude. You will learn as you grow older that the world is a very small place and, as such, you should avoid pissing people off if you can. Acknowledging mistakes increases other's respect for you. You will not say you made a mistake, even when you clearly did. Instead, you do a "Clintonist" argument based on pure symantics. That is why PCM and others now do not respect you. I respect those that stand for what they believe, based on the facts. Fielding the impossible-to-prove argument that "I love my school more than you" is just pure junior high. And making untrue statements and then hiding under your momma's skirt is not the way to begin making friends or building a reputation in this small, small world. Whether you go to Michigan or Marquette or North Dakota will matter only until you start. After twenty years or so, it will be an interesting fact but not the controlling factor when deciding whether you get the job and whether you keep it.

I think shields/masks should be required. There are so many professions where practicing workplace safety is mandatory. Afterall, you can't enter an osha-level job site without a hardhat and you can't do the windows on the Wells Fargo Center without a safety harness. Why are sports occupations exempt? In the meantime, rather than post my best wishes here (I'm not sure the players look at this site), I sent a brief note to Nick Fuher thru the Coyotes organization website, with all of our best wishes for a full recovery. I think it would be great if everyone would do the same.

PCM. Nice letter. I sent feedback on his article yesterday and it has still not been posted to his column. My letter had a respectful tone and called him on his thesis that he is somehow happier with his choice of schools than I was with mine...and I also pointed out that his comments regarding Mr. Englestad were unprofessional since there is a difference between a collector of memoribilia and a "sympathizer"... Anyway, your letter was great, but don't hold your breath waiting for a response.

Now THAT is good humor...thanks...

Oh, I got it alright. I just figured pain would be a better play on words since pane already refers to glass.

His article is really just a sophomoric attempt. Think about it. A thesis that basically states "My choice was better than the guy who attended ND". What an idiotic statement. In order to justify and validate himself and prove the point that he loves his school better, he has to resort to the very grade school tatic of bashing somebody else's choices. Pathetic. In the real world, you can't get away with that, but remember, this is a school newspaper. I look at him as an ungrateful brat that has forgotten his roots. Hopefully his mom and dad will still let him come back and live with them after he graduates - based on the journalism I've seen so far, he's not going to last long writing at a real paper.

Except when drafting legal documents, then you're charging by the word, right???
