I bet ESPN is loving this because they get this game on a bigger stage. Happening in the regionals wouldn't have quite as big of a TV draw.

It's been a while since I've been here too but thought I'd stop in to point out I don't think there is such a thing as an EX gopher fan. And we'll always have room on our bandwagon for the title game.

I think the fans who would be bragging it up would be from WI since Barry is the one getting most of the blame for starting down the path to get this stupid conference created. Gopher fans are not happy but are accepting because there's nothing that can be done at this point so we've got to move on and enjoy the season.

Oh, you know you'd miss us if we weren't here. Without us it would be... "I think UND is the greatest team ever." "No I think they are even greater than you do." "But I think they'll win 3 titles in a row." "Only 3? I see 5." And so on. Our presence mixes it up a bit to give you a point to focus your hatred upon and increase the entertainment value for all. Right?

Sure it was a gift to get the major because there was an argument for it to go either way. But it's not like the refs handed them goals, just the opportunity. They still had to score them and you have to admit that AA has likely had bigger collapses than that. Looking at my post count and how long I've been a member, I'm not sure you could say I frequent here. But I'll admit it can be a fun stop during game week. Plus what fun would it be if you had no one to chirp against? But I guess I'll be here a lot less now since they won't be playing soon. *pauses for the cheering at my upcoming extended absence to subside, if anyone really cares that much about little old me*

I don't understand why this is still going on. To me it sure sounds like the fans are upset because they are being left behind and won't get their shot at the Gophers anymore. Why is there no outrage about a rivalry with BC? You played them several years in the NCAAs. Why not rage on getting a regular season series with them scheduled? You want to blame Lucia, fine. I'm sure he had a say in it. But he's looking forward to new rivalries with Michigan schools instead of trying to keep UND going where we all know it's only a matter of time before someone gets very seriously injured during this series given how things have gone, which would be way worse than someone getting stripped of their A. I bet that has a lot to do with why Lucia wants to let this one cool off. I also enjoy all the love for Woog. It's safe to like him now because he's gone from the program. Everyone needs to get over it and move on because it just isn't going to happen.

I think it does matter because that's what happened in the game. If it was a 2, the Gophers to go overtime tied. IMHO way more often I've seen a five minute penalty kill as a bigger momentum changer than major power play goals. I don't like to see them awarded too often unless it kicks out some player I despise or the team scores 2 goals to win the game. I'm happy to talk about it but I was just suprised to see it because UND wasn't involved in the game and no UND fans are obsessed with the Gophers. Sorry, couldn't resist that easy one.

How often do you see multiple goals scored on a major? Not very. The gophers did get a bit of a gift but it was certainly at least a 2 min boarding call, and they scored less than 2 min into the PP. But why are you still talking about this game anyways? Figured would have moved past it by now.

True. The effort isn't there because they want to push the new conference and try to move forward past all the B1G hate. There isn't enough that want to make it happen so I think they compromised with waiting a few years.

Wait, now you want to go by the best fans? That changes everything. Wasn't it an UND fan that started this whole thing off by saying UND was #1? I don't think you'll get much argument from any fan of any team that knows anything about hockey to dispute BC.

I don't think he'll regret sticking around. I think it was more a character move than anything. I think he should be all right. Plus he can bolt anytime because WI will be bad for years to come. I don't think getting him and Zengerle is going to turn things around for them. The "Fire Eaves" thread finally popped up on USCHO. The down the tubes thread should be coming shortly.

Blame for the BTHC can be placed squarely on Alvarez and Penn State. They rolled everyone else and put them in a position that there was no other option. BTHC forced all the NCHC schools to make a move because the CCHA was about to collapse and all those teams needed a home. So they moved first and got their pick of what was left leaving the new WCHA to pick up the scraps. That's how I see it anyways. BTHC moved so the NCHC responded the best they could. Didn't seem like they did too bad so far.

Maybe not, but how about the Sioux's troubles this season with Tech allowing that? And does this guy then go on to claim Holy Cross chants are okay? I don't know, seems a little strange to me. Leave it to Scooby and Sicatoka to make me knock over my Snapple while laughing.

Yeah, if he's not thinking "Gophers suck" then he's either not a passionate fan engaged in this rivalry, not been around college hockey, or just incredibly desperate for a topic to write about. There have been plenty of cheap shots going both ways this week, which I freely admit to being a part of. So I don't think one side can claim innocence on this one.

Why is that sad? I would think mosts people think that's a good thing. If anything is speaks to the quality of your program versus bucky. Who is your main rival if it's not the Gophers then? tnt: you are likely correct about the hack comments. Some may be trying to get those out of the way now, but unless there is one instance during a game to refer to like a particularly brutal penalty it may be a bit subdued. I would love to see a clean game but realize that is unlikely.

I think you're mixing up predicting with hoping for. Most of us do know it will be a tough series so I haven't seen to many actual, serious predictions of a sweep. But hey, if you don't think you guys can handle the games, hiding in fear and shame is certainly your option.
