When you compare the WCHA to the Summit league I don't think it's even close I think one could make the argument that the Missori Valley is a superior conference to the Summit league, but it is only a football conference. Here is an analogy I would use to describe the Summit league, it's 2 oclock your leaving the bar and the last girl in the bar is willing to go home with you and she isn't very pretty but she is the only option and were begging to go home with her. ------Flame away if you like.

I think it is a legitimate question but I posed this to one of the people that will benifit from being in the summit league conference and I understood from talking to him that the University wasn't just going to pick a name without a tought out process and that UND might not have one for a short period of time. We all know if the Administration decided to pick a moniker and logo without a well thought out process involving the students and alumni there would be huge mess. That being said, I could see the Univesity and or the SBHE doing something stupid like that.

remember there is a right to not be offended. So I guess if 2-3 people and their moronic ex-president are offended the name has to go.

I think that is a good question if they ACTUALLY played in a good league like the HE, WCHA or CCHA they wouldn't even probably be in the top five.

Maybe we need to flood the alumni office and university with emails and calls and tell them not to just randomly change the name to something stupid and unacceptable, I can see this happening. A lof ot us spent a lot of time and money attending UND and have a degree or two from UND and we don't want to sit by as our university adminstration and the SBOE ruins/disregards traditions and a very storried sports team name. I feel that UND is about more than just finding a conference for the Basketball team, a lot of us didn't ask for UND to transistion to Division one. There are a lot of Banners hanging in the REA with a Sioux logo on them.

I would have to think that the University would have to do that in the interim. Can you imagine if they changed the name during the summer when the students were home for the summer? You would have a S#!T storm. I think the Students and the Alumni need to weigh in on the issue before any name is accepted or acceptable.
