    Like I've said, they are looking at running it like high school. Have as many sports as possible and who cares if more than half of them don't have winning records. That is unacceptable. There had better be something else going on we don't know about or I will have a serious bone to pick with President Kennedy. And if there is a decision coming to not fund FCOA to balance the budget, I will be calling for heads (Kennedy's and Faison's).

    We couldn't get FB into the MVFC, so that meant the Big Sky was the better option at the time.

    The committee must think that running our athletic department like a high school is a good thing. We cannot adequately fund 20 sports at the Division I level so that they can thrive and be successful and not merely exist. I hope President Kennedy takes a blended approach to this: Increase revenues AND cut sports. If we can get the number down to at least 16, that would make it much easier to raise the level of support for MBB, WBB and FB, all of which have tremendous upside.

    Let's also not shed any tears for them either. Whatever we dish out to them, they have earned and then some. Also, anything that puts a stop to all that "Bring on Bama" garbage is good, IMHO.

    So you want UND athletics to be run like high school? You can have excellent student-athletes and success on the field/court/ice. It isn't a zero sum game.

    You are missing the point. If we are recruiting against schools with FCOA and don't fund FCOA ourselves, we are screwed. The rules have changed and we need to keep up with them.

    The point is that without FCOA, you can kiss any championships goodbye. What chance would Bubba or Brewster or Jones have recruiting in this area against teams with FCOA if UND doesn't fund FCOA? Next to nothing. The merits of FCOA are a separate topic; what matters is that it is here and we need to do it or be mediocre across the board permanently.

    I actually agree with you; I was just venting. I am now done venting. I am surprised people took it that seriously. Lighten up folks. I like being able to sneak up on other teams. I actually wish the Vikings were not getting the love they are getting from ESPN; all that does is put a big fat target on your back. And not being respected is just more fuel for the gas tank, not that this team needs it.

    I think you meant Northeastern (otherwise, the B1G would have seven teams instead of six!). Otherwise, you are correct. I just had to vent a little. If Boston College had won it all last year, they would get all the love that a defending champ should get. But if we do it.......gotta talk about someone else instead. But maybe that is what we need to motivate the boys to do it again.

    In other words, have a large number of mediocre sports and run the athletic department like high school. You must want NDSU to keep laughing at us and shoving their championships in our face. And I don't give a rat's a$$ what the rest of the Big Sky does with regard to FCOA, especially since we might move to the Slummit League in the near future (not that I agree with it, but it might happen nonetheless). We have to compete with the schools in our region for athletes, not in our conference. We might as well go back to Division II and the NSIC if we aren't going to offer FCOA. You basically want to run the athletic department on a shoe-string budget with caps on games played and God knows what else. That is not what I want UND athletics to morph into. Thank heavens you are not in charge at Twamley or Hyslop.

    I am getting sick and tired of hearing about BU and their "diaper dandies" (Copyright Dick Vitale). We are the reigning, defending NCAA National Champions and if the Terriers want to take that title from us, they will have to earn it. And so far, they haven't done that. Let's see where these teams are at in February or March before we start awarding titles to teams.

    What about Division I Men's Hockey schools who don't sponsor Women's Hockey? Why aren't they in Title IX purgatory?
