  1. No, because wealth is only one measure of privilege. It really isn't that hard to find any number of studies and essays on privilege to inform yourself. You don't have to become "woke", but putting the least bit of effort into the issue can show things from a different perspective.
  2. Oh, no. You said that the Ds are doing it all wrong so it is incumbent upon you to explain how the Rs would do it better if they were in charge of inner-cities.
  3. My fault for not providing the link: https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2020/02/27/examining-the-black-white-wealth-gap/ The basic idea is that there are a number of factors, but a large one is the continuous cycle of intergenerational wealth transfer (or lack thereof) and the disparities in the taxation of wealth-derived income (inheritance, capital gains) vs work-derived income.
  4. Obviously this can simply be explained by D policies to make sure that people have food to eat and a roof over their head.
  5. When urban Blacks vote for Ds it is because they are “duped”. Loud and clear.
  6. I think it'll either be Kamala Harris or Susan Rice. Liz Warren is more valuable in the senate and the others that have been mentioned don't quite have the name recognition or experience that you'd normally want for someone a heartbeat away from the presidency. And make no mistake, Joe is old, so having a qualified VP is important.
  7. Maybe the other party should come up with compelling ideas and try to earn their votes.
  8. It is not racist to bring that up. It, however, is disingenuous to provide that as a response to the Black community's concerns over policing. Black on Black violence in dense urban areas is directly related to gang activity and drugs, which itself is an offshoot of poverty. It is not ignored, but the solutions are also not simple. You may not want to hear it, but it does in fact go back to the founding of this country and various racist policies along the way. Rather than re-litigate that, the question is what can we do about it going forward? Throwing a ton of cops into south Chicago may dampen the violence, but is it going to help the economic status of the people in public housing projects?
  9. And wear masks.
  10. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/06/immunity-to-coronavirus-is-fragile-and-short-lived-expert-warns.html This would certainly put a dent in The Sikatoka's herd immunity plan. Hopefully this concept is proven wrong and the immunity is sustainable.
  11. This site has nice visualizations of the data: https://covidtracking.com/data You can also drill into the states.
  12. Thank you for the reply. Prior to the ACA 46M people were uninsured. Currently, that number is around 28M. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the majority is the cost for coverage for those above the Medicaid limit is not realistic even with subsidies. For rural hospitals, if a market solution is that there isn't enough demand to keep them around, should they exist? I'm fine with subsidizing them to make sure that people have realistic access to health care, but there has to be acknowledgement of the government's role. I would note that of the rural hospital closures since 2010, a large majority have been in states that have refused Medicaid expansion.
  13. Yes, I wish Obama had done something about it. And I wish Trump would do something about it. Would you not agree that Trump has had much more information available to him? Yes, he is a FoxNews contributor and sometimes fills in for the talking heads there. I've never watched a full show of his, but I've run into enough of his commentary via Twitter and elsewhere to form an opinion of him. I'm a bit confused about the CNN dig, though. How often do FoxNews contributors go on other stations? I don't even watch CNN.
  14. You are about a step away from calling what Sean Hannity does “news”.
  15. I wish our intelligence agencies had been all over it, but apparently they were late to the game. It is still going on now. Who’s fault is that?
  16. Um, yes. I don’t consider calling someone “insane” and then not providing a rebuttal a challenge.
  17. So, you might say that he is a snowflake?
  18. You can build a case against someone and still determine that a conviction is unlikely for any kinds of reasons. It is Trump who claimed that he was exonerated despite the fact that Mueller explicitly states that it didn’t. By the way, here is the federal court filing about Barr’s spin on the Mueller report: Thank you for at least challenging a point I made. I would state that in my original lengthy post that criticized Trump I made no mention of the efforts by Trump’s team to gain intel from Russia. My point was that it has been proven that Russian operatives have used various media to influence the US election, and Trump has done little to nothing to stop them. Oh, by the way, telling someone to watch FoxNews instead of CNN is the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black. FoxNews is not a source of unbiased information in the least. I don’t watch either (or MSNBC).
  19. So, “deep state” is literally anything that appears (to you) to be anti-Trump. Got it. Totally sane. And ”Wuhan flu” and whatever Bath House Barry means are truly compelling arguments, really. I just can’t compare with the intellect shown in this thread. At least Yzerman responded with some intelligent conversation on one of my points. He is literally the only one who has challenged any of my points in the last week.
  20. What media is reliable in your eyes? I consider all three major cable networks to be crap and I’ve tuned them all out. When the 24 hour news stations started up they mostly played it straight. Murdoch saw an opening and turned FoxNews into an opinion network with extremely successful results. MSNBC copied on the left. CNN got stuck in a dead-mans zone and ended up turning into a news entertainment business. Seriously, go look at CNN and FoxNews websites today. Just clickbait crap.
  21. I will say, this thread is certainly eye-opening. A left-leaning critique of the presidency is seen as “insane” and “loony-tunes”, but the conspiracy theory that the mythical deep state is continuing to try to take down the president is seen as fact. WWG1WGA - am I right, folks? Thankfully, most of the moderates in this country have soured on Donald and barring a meltdown by Biden (which I admit is not a 0% scenario), he will be escorted from office in January.
  22. And yet, no rebuttal. Fascinating.
  23. You implied that the indictments were related to the FISA efforts in 2016. My question was how the “deep state“ in 2020 (including Obama) is currently trying to take down Trump, as stated earlier in this thread.
  24. You literally quoted a post of mine that was in response to the idea that Obama and the deep state are continuing to try to take down Trump, and you called my post without fact and insane. Hot damn. edit - I’ve made a number of posts here over the last week. Some opinion mixed in with a lot of facts. Let me know which ones you find “insane”. This ought to be good. You can do direct quotes. And can someone explain to me how the deep state is currently taking down Trump. He seems to be doing pretty well himself. Citations, please.
