  1. 6 wins are going to be hard to come by next year.  7 wins doesn't guarantee you a playoff spot next year in a 12 game season.  If this team does not make the playoffs this year, I don't know how you can keep Bubba.  As previously stated, they aren't going to have Bubba coach a lame duck season in 2025 without a new contract.  So if this team doesn't win at least 8 games this year and at least make the playoffs, Bubba is gone.

  2. Bubba is signed thru 2025.  This is Bubba's make or break year.  They are not going to have him coach the last year of his contract without a new deal in places.  So baring a MVFC Championship or a deep playoff run, This is likely Bubba's final year.  Was already going to be a rough season, but now throw in a new OC and a new QB, it gets even tougher.  Why would an external candidate want to come into a situation like that where there is a good chance you could be let go after 1 year.  I think this will be an internal hire.  Unless someone outside just wants a shot at OC and wants to pad their resume.

  3. And the other co OC is going to be the play caller!!  He sees the writing on the wall. Bubba is extended thru 2025, but if they fail to win a playoff game, he’s getting canned.

Maybe that’s a good thing. They will
Fire Bubba and the entire staff, then Danny comes in and interviews as an outside candidate and gets the job!!  Boom!

They ran a regular running play on the third down which resulted in the injury.  If they had taken a knee on that play, no injury, no clock stoppage, and punt goes back to Texas with them taking possession with about 10 secs. left and nearly full field to go.  The bigger mistake was on the previous drive when they threw an incomplete pass on third down, so Texas didn't have to take a TO before Washington went out 37-28. They left the Longhorns with the two TOs to use after not recovering onside kick.

It wasn't great clock management by UW in the fourth but they held on.

Not sure if it was the same drive, but with 10 mins left in the 4th up 11, Washington passed 3 straight downs then punted.  I mean I'll give you third down, but not all 3 downs.

I hate they put everything behind a paywall.

UND has the rights to the 2026 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game. It will use that to play another showcase event away from Grand Forks.

Secondly, UND and Ralph Engelstad Arena officials have started to zero in on a location.

The current frontrunner is Austin, Texas, the Herald has learned from multiple sources.

They have not signed a contract for an opponent yet, but UND has communicated with Michigan State about the possibility. The Spartans are currently experiencing a revitalization under second-year coach Adam Nightingale.

UND has played a hockey game in 28 states, but it has never played one in Texas.

The last two teams remaining this season will come to the Alerus next season

Don't forget USD.  The top 3 seeds in the playoffs will all come to the Alerus.  Better than playing them on the road I guess.  Oh, and the other team in the semis (NDSU) we got on the road.  Throw in an FBS game in there and you got a gautlet of a schedule.  But that is the way it goes in the MVFC.  That being said, The SDSU team that comes to the Alerus next year will be a drastically different team than the one playing next month in Frisco.  They have 18 6th year starters that are all graduating. Plus,  Granowski may see all the starters leaving and I think may look at hitting the transfer portal.  But still will be a tough schedule.

Bison top recruit, Maxwell Woods, flips to SDSU.

News like this makes me think Polacek is either brining in his own OC or calling the plays himself, and that Roehl is gone.  Either Woods was told this or he saw the writing on the wall.  Forn stability purposes, it would be smart for Polacek to keep many of the coaches, especially Roehl since it sounds like most of the players were pushing for him to be the next HC.  But who knows.  Polocek may want to run his own offense and have him or his own guy make then play calls.  May find out some of those answers at his introductory press conference.

  8. I get trying to be creative and throw something at their defense they haven’t seen before…..but WTF!!  Biggest play of the game and season and  you have 2 competent quarterbacks, and you take the ball out of both their hands and have a WR throw the ball?!!  Just an all time horrible call. They will be talking about that play in the west lot for years!!

  9. NCAA proposing new college athletics subdivision rooted in direct athlete compensation

    https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-proposing-new-college-athletics-subdivision-rooted-in-direct-athlete-compensation-145051537.html

Entry into the subdivision requires a school to invest, at minimum, $30,000 per year per athlete into what is termed an “enhanced educational trust fund” for at least half of a school’s countable athletes. Schools would determine when athletes receive the amount, which, for four-year athletes, will total at least $120,000. Schools must continue to abide by the framework of Title IX, assuring that 50 percent of the investment be directed toward women athletes.”

  10. Remember when NIL was pitched as a way for NCAA athletes to get compensated because the school was making money off their name, image, or likeness?  0NOw it has turned into a recruiting tool to buy players as free agents and the highest bidder wins.  Completely out of hand.  NCAA failed to regulate it.  They need to reign it in before it really gets out of hand.  Por sports have salary caps.  There needs to be an NIL cap.  Obviously, schools with FBS in P5 conferences would have a different cap amount than say NSIC schools.  Either way, there needs to be a solution to the NIL craziness before it gets really out of hand.... which we are tattering on right now.
