  1. ufff...

The avenues to AHL camps run green with the blood of alums this week.

    Poganski, Mismash, Kawaguchi, Scheel....

in addition to Gersich, Adams, Colton P, and Cam...

Jasper Wetherknee remains the only former UND with a chance to make a team out of camp and make his NHL debut.

The new recruiting restrictions also favor blue bloods and big names. Nobody is reaching out to schools like Lake Superior State on their own, and prior to a certain age that's the only way to start a conversation with a recruit. Look at what schools had freshly available commitments announced on Aug 1st and soon after.

You're not wrong at all here.

I think you are right. But @Frozen4sioux made it sound like our days of contending are in danger of being over. I really hope he is wrong, but it is something we need to keep an eye on.

Never said that UND was "was going to be relegated" ...

Im just stating that the landscape of college hockey has changed, dramatically, and its not a temporary shift at all.

Many, if not most, fans do not realize this yet, they dont understand the impact

I assure you coaches, administrators, and "advisors" do.

I'm also saying its foolish to compare this Michigan team to the BU 1andDone team

Well this painful Twins season ends today, and it is time to look at what needs to happen for next year.

Right now, there is only 1 thing that needs to happen

The Union and Owners need to agree to a new CBA to prevent a stoppage.

I could go for a long laundry list of things to go... but it is moot if there aren't any games.

a season cut in half and a playoffs doubled is probably the best thing that could happen to baseball.

At least then Twins fans woulf be subjected to shorter bouts of deapair, hopelessness, and depression.

Frattin biffed on a breakaway to ice it. He scores there and the Leafs move on.

....and effectively ended his career, Toronto shipped him off because of that and was misused and destroyed by LA coaching.

Shame, its not like he had an empty net or anything either, but Toronto and their long and recent record of playoff dominance was just too arrogant for anything but perfection.

"I just thought we could get it."   ~Bubba

Just an absolute terrible call, terrible execution and that is an almost even worse explanation.

The final possession of the 1st half was when I absolutely knew there wasn't a chance to win this.

I saw a coach that was so desperately trying to cling to moral victory it was embarrassing...

"We were up on them at the half" is a safe anecdote to have in the bag, for recruiting, for donors, for media... it almost looked like that was the goal and then they just mailed in the rest like it was a self fullfilling prophecy.

Weak, frail, confused, and willing to settle is not the leadership or coaching that will push UND football to anything more than a subconference afterthought.

The 4th down call was a fireable / retireable offense.

A few years back my wife and I were a billet for a Fargo Force player. He told us about his recruiting process and each college he visited. When he checked out Michigan the first thing they did was take him to the Big House. He told his dad immediately he was no longer interested in them and wanted to leave. Nothing like letting a hockey recruit know what they will be second, third, or fourth fiddle to.

    Yeah they're screwed.....

That was my first thought, but they were pretty public with their decision on Ronaldo, so it's hard to imagine different circumstances for Cam.

Yes, the more I read, it is physical conditioning.  I hope the young man is ok and can overcome the setback, but it sure doesn't appear that its going to be in Columbus as to getting a shot.....

    Yikes.

Yeah, that is very interesting, speculation may be that "fitness" refers to vaccination rather than physicality??

Either way, as you said........ yikes.

Has the team ever uzed Z that much on a scoresheet before?

The Panzer years maybe...... this could take some research.

1 AM, middle of the night ... Most brains say sleep... nah-uh my brain sez research media guide for most letter "Z"s to ever appear on a UND roster.... 4 this year, is that the most?

No. 2nd most behind the leader.

    Answer is 5 in 2014- 15

    Jordan Schmaltz

    Nick Schmaltz

    Bryn Chyzyk

    Andrew Panzarella

    Zane McIntyre

If the team roster page of the program wasn't sponsored by Zorbaz that year, a massive opportunity was lozt.

I'm guessing Senden will be moved up to the 2nd line, at least to start with.  Jamernik takes over the 3rd.  Will be interesting if Bubs keeps Hain-Senden together.  Maybe something like this:

    Gaber-Ford-Caulfield

    Hain-Senden-Calder

    Ness-Jamernik-Budy

    Kunz-Schmaltz-Portz

This type of post makes it harder for many of us to do our jobs. One of our nurses who was in her 40’s and otherwise healthy bought into this baloney fueled by political rants that have nothing to do with this medical challenge we are facing. First of all you show ignorance of the subject when you claim “no respiratory virus in the history of humans has ever been eradicated so the body needs to learn to fight it at some point or another”.  Even a basic science student with any review of viruses and immunology knows smallpox was eradicated through vaccinations by 1979. Today it exists only in laboratories if ever needed again for research. We are close to eliminating polio through vaccines. Polio cases exist in only a handful of countries.
I’m not sure how many patients you take care of, but it shouldn’t be any if you spew this nonsense. In the last few days, 8 of the last 12 patients I tested were positive for COVID. 5 were sick with cough, fever, fatigue, body aches, sore throats and a couple with diarrhea. 2 of them had been sick for more than 10 days so didn’t qualify for monoclonal antibody infusion. The other 3 were infused, with good results.  Non were vaccinated. Ages were 20, 38,  54, 67, 69.  The 2 who waited too long still feel crappy but they are ok. 3 had been vaccinated and felt like they had a cold. One lost sense of taste and smell. 2 who tested negative were vaccinated one wasn’t.  At Sanford today over 70 pts were in ICU or on ventilators. Only 3 were vaccinated. Although a small cohort and anecdotal, it is consistent with what physicians are seeing around the world. That is solid evidence supporting vaccination.
The vaccines went through all 3 phases of testing. They were tested in thousands of subjects. Over a billion people have been vaccinated. It has been proven very effective. It markedly decreases your chance of getting infected but it’s possible you could still get infected. It almost eliminates the chance you will die from COVID or end up with a serious infection. It is still possible. The chance of blood clots from the J&J is about 7/1000000. The chance of myocarditis from the Pfizer or Moderna is about 2-5/1000000.  We can treat the blood clots. The myocarditis usually resolves spontaneously within a couple of weeks.
You don’t become immune by going to Packer games or hanging out in large crowds. You become immune by successfully fighting off an infection or by getting vaccinated. You odds of avoiding clots or myocarditis are better if you are vaccinated. PM me if you want a more detailed explanation of how the illness or vaccine stimulate our bodies to produce antibodies. Make a decision about getting vaccinated based on scientific facts and evidence. Make your decision based upon the recommendation from your physician. This isn’t the time to get into alternative treatments or non-physician doctors who aren’t trained to recognize, treat and prevent infectious disease.
No one who knows me would mistake me for a left wing liberal. Refusing to be vaccinated is not the way to further one’s political beliefs or causes. The best way to do that, is to stay alive stay healthy and attend your party caucuses this fall. The recommendation for vaccination comes from both Trump and Biden. The research and testing was by medical and scientific researchers from all over the world. Because we don’t like the government mandates or we don’t like the media, or we don’t like the present administration is not a reason to refuse to take care of our health. To allow our dislike for Fauci, Biden, some of the Governors etc to keep us home and let our hockey team and the nation see us abandon our team in the national spotlight because of unfounded fears or politics is sad. We will no longer be able to claim we are the best college hockey fans in the world if our team can’t count on us to sacrifice the inconveniences of getting in the arena or worse yet refusing to get vaccinated.

    Applause.

Extreamly accurate, I am a massive supporter of exactly this, everyone should look at all of this and be allowed to make a decision based on their physicians input, and verified scientific data.

That is exactly how this should go.

We should all be talking and listening to our own Drs instead of blindly following politicians  like Biden and Pelosi telling us to "stay away", and not to trust the "Trump vaccine"... that's just foolish.

The question is, how long was Red a hindrance on recruiting? Mel is clearly much better.

The question isn't Red vs Mel....

It's the amatuer rules of days past vs the reality of TCA+NIL benefits+ Transfer portal.

    41 minutes ago, SDPondHockey said:

The portal isn’t going away in recruiting. Yes missing on high end guys now is frustrating, but it could leave some scholarship $ available for after the year to add proven high end experience players that address specific needs after the season plays out.

    Bingo.

The era of NIL combined with transfer portal will change the landscape forever.

I hoped the change would be more gradual, but it will not be, that now is evident.

Say a Michigan that has just freakin loaded up goes on a run, the resources of their Alumni base, overall fans, exposure, and the B1G, they could just open the coffers to kids via the transfer portal and refresh a juggernaut for a decade out of these massive recruiting classes.

Michigan will not be the BU one and done draft pick palazzo bust, its foolish to keep comparing the two situations.

The absolute key to being a successfull college program from here to when the NCAA is rewritten from the ground up....  is to "endow" basically massive NIL opportunities and ruthlessly battle in the portal.

I wouldn’t mind a 57-0 lead going into the fourth quarter

I wouldn’t mind eight su turnovers

I wouldn’t mind minus 59 yards rushing for the su with six yards passing and no kick off or punt returns

I wouldn’t mind about 500 su fans running out of gas on the way to the game

I wouldn’t mind that we had 600 yards rushing with no turnovers

You forgot about crapping gold eggs in the lavatory of you rocket car.

Lets be real, I wouldn't m8nd a close game into the 3rd quarter.
