The Brien logo never hung a green banner in the REA but a generic jersey that said "North Dakota" did, no debating that.

True but the concept of the traditions and excellence and values of the Fighting Sioux culture existed in those programs in that era... as is does today and in the future of the program. No matter what logo is on a jersey. The NCAA or a whack job engrish proffessor, or the Hawkzis cant take from us.

The Sioux is never coming back... but the traditions remain.

I dont like the new logo and name. Thats most of us, but it seems for some we dont have the right to voice that opinion. its either fall in line with the minority or your speech is hate.

A disturbing trend in our country today.

but that is a whole nother case of beer conversation.

Cool. The nickname and logo have changed multiple times and none of them have ever won a game or hung a banner.

I think thats something that could be debated, I believe symbolism and effects on group psyche and performance have shown that there is value in the "Name on the Front" mentality in sports and many other areas of society.

But really ...its just a frckn nickname ... so we will never know appearently.

UND/ND spent a million dollars trying to save the nickname and got nothing in return except clowns complaining "they didn't do enough".  Yet you are complaining about 35K for a mascot?

A Million fighting for a principle is aworthy debate anywhere

$35K for a chicken suit is just stupid everywhere.

  4. Like it or not in our society symbols and names mean things.

To the vast majority.. a concept that still somehow baffles the very few hawkstepping Hawkzis....

The name meant something, tradition, excellence, strength, team, family, success.

The fnhawk does not deserve any of those symbolistic virtues to be assosciated with it,

    its true...as some keep regurgitating......

. its just a frkn nickname......

nothing special, nothing of meaning, nothing to support, a cheap outline, no more. no less.

Im sorry you're so angered by that, I have a feeling that anger stems from some long standing hurt you felt that you assosciate with the old name, but Im not here to pat you on the head and tell you it will all be better. Not my job, and in all likelihood its not going to get better for you....sorry.

Im sure the nest of the hawk is providing you with a safespace and thats going to have to be good enough.

    You do you.

So your frustration is with the state leadership/legislature than?

in NO way can this mess be passed of on the legislature.

The political posturing complicated things .....

but this atrocity and the process that created it is 100% owned and bred from poor leadership at the University of North Dakota and its not just the single Presidents but a culture of poor decision making.

So i take issue with the symbol of failure and mediocrity that is the FnHawks name and logo. That's what it will always mean to me and a large portion of the fan base and alumni.

Did you suggest the two nicknames during the process?

    Yes I did,

I was in the Nodak camp, which wasn't that great and...

I think I threw out something that was tossed in the first cut as it was a representative of what I thought of the process, extremely pathetic.  I honestly can't remember it.

I was of the true belief that the rule of being representative of North Dakota was a standard that would be adhered to.

  7. I believe the majority of fans, and it IS a super majority of fans, are stymied about the entire process from start to finish and the end result is a terminal hatred of the... end result.

Never hold onto a bad decision just because you spent so much time making it.

All of this would have been best served to cut the head (kinda literally) off the jersey right away. Then have the School president and Governor and the Athletic Director meet to decide a new route, immediately.

That would have been quick, and succinct.

That didn't happen, I hate the name and logo not just because of the pathetic nature of what it is, or the pathetic nature of constant misinformation to support it,  but more so the process in which it was churned out.

I do not want the University to continue to use the failed process, and myself and many others will never support it. Ever.

I know very few people if any that believe the Sioux logo is ever coming back, or even advocating that. Can't think of one in fact, wish it could but its not, have never said that's what we advocate for.

I just want a better effort and a better result from a better process instituted by better leadership.

THAT IS NOT HAPPENING and the bad processes continue to churn, that's not something I will ever support.  Not ever.

It’s okay if you see a person wearing a Fighting Hawk cap or shirt. They cheer for the same school. And what’s funny is your reply to my comment in which you “fixed” can go for the Fighting Sioux Forever crowd as well. There are people who have moved on. Pretty fun sight seeing 10,000 Fighting Hawks fans waving their Hawkerchief during the Potato Bowl, but I’m sure after the game they ran home to hug their Fighting Sioux pillow apologizing to Ralph Engelstad for touching anything with the Hawk on it.

Your claiming people wiggling a free giveaway as a sign people are are moving on.....

that’s a new stretch of ignorance, even from you.

  9. I think Hak has far exceeded expectations.

Philly is a terrible situation and the worst thing he could have done was get into the playoffs with that terrible mix of crap that first year.

if this was the first year back in the playoffs after rebuilding, he’d be all good and on track.

The team is getting closer to rebuilt and the next 2 years would be serious contenders in the East.

Unfortunetly, it’s Philly and flyer fans wouldn’t know Hockey from the hole in their Ashe. So they hate him for not winning 4 cups in the 3 years he’s been there with team sthat shouldn’t compete for the Calder let alone Stanley.

Add to that injuries and bipolar goalies, and the glob of crap on ice that is Gudas.....

and they hate Hak when really they should be thankful they have a coach that even wants a part of Shute show they have going for them.

At this point Hexy will prolly have to can Dave to save his ass and still be the tough guy in philly to passify the stupidest group of inbred assoles I’ve ever seen assembled.... Philadelphia sports fans.

  10. I find it disingenuous to say this is being "pushed" by students.

I don't believe for a second that the idea originated from the students. This is something concocted by marketing or some department and the committee they put together, which consists of and is chaired by a students, is being used to justify a process.

As far as being controversial..... come on .... in what perversion of reality do you not realize that this process and a F'nHawks mascot is NOT a controversial issue.

There has been almost zero positive public response to the pr stuff put out so far on social media.

The simple fact that there is a preprepared FAQ that attempts to addresse the controversial aspects of this is evidence of that.

Please dont plead blissfull ignorance about the nature of the many questioning the fact this is happening or pretend to be baffled as to why "I" am making it sound like the pushback exists.

Thats just trying to tell people thats its raining while pissing on their face.

The fact that the UAAF went out and found specific people to fund this is, if true, a valid piece of new information that HAS NOT been put out before.

HOWEVER having an announced silly unnecessary expenditure...NO MATTER HOW FUNDED.... at the same time as another round of announced budget cuts does not sit well with many many people. Fair or not, thats the case.

And the fact that the info put out in the releases today has strategicly considered information to address some of the issues raised is pure evidence that they fully understand that this is an unpopular position but are pushing it anyway.

Those are facts that are not debatable.

The possition of the University as I see it is... "Yeah, well F you, we're going to do this, so screw your opinion and make your check out to UNDAA&F.

    My position is.....  NO.

Fundraising for golf is still ongoing. Sounds like they are optimistic but I haven't heard or seen any numbers that actually back that up.

Funding for the mascot is coming from private funding.

Funding is coming from the Alumni Association and Foundation, which does provide scholorships to students including student athletes correct??....

So my point is correct, instead of supporting a student academically.....

funds are being used to buy a $35,000 halloween costume.

  12. It has to be a rebuild, even if Parise doesnt get hurt and Suter doesn't get hurt,  they just didnt match up to Winnipegs skill and physicality.

They simply are not going to move on from the 1st round without more talent up front and on the blue line.

Koivu and Stall just arent good enough, they protected the wrong people in the expansion IMHO.

Too many vets that dont pull their weight every night.

Yes.  Make this happen!!  Bout time Fletcher got canned.  LOOOOOOOOOONG overdue.

I don’t see how there is any way to keep Parise and Suter through the nd of those deals, I also don’t see how they can move them.

The future for the wild may be doomed by those deals.

Why haven't we heard anything on the Men's Golf program?  It seems to be a topic nobody has information on, nor does the athletic department or anyone here at siouxsports even talk about.  It all seems very bizarre to me.

To my understanding, the team needed to raise their own endowment, something along the lines of $4 million. How is that fundraising going? I haven't seen a FundMe page on it or anything!

I'm curious if Chaves will want to take on the heat of some alumni following through with the cutting of golf if the money is not raised.  It was not his decision, so I understand that he has no blame here, but no AD wants to have cutting sports programs in their reputation.

No funding for men’s golf or to attract and educate student athletes here...    we have a bird costume to buy.

It's an actual flag but a cheap replica.  The green interior "headdress feathers" should come to a point and the letter thickness on UND varies.

These flags are fairly common on amazon and elsewhere. No not liscenced.

A very common misconception that all the feathers of the "Geometric" logo come to a point.

As a fact the interior feathers are not pointed but rounded and the interior feathers lines curve as opposed to the straight lines of the outer feathers.

the cheaply produces flag shown over accentuates the detail but anytime the logo is used that large it will be more obvious.

  16. Alive striven Freda cup:

    Oshie

    Poolman

    Rowney

    Dell

    Gersich

    Chorney

Golfing, packing or trying to get out of philly without a hoard of Neanderthal humanoids throwing beer at them.

    Stafford

    Zajac

    Jost

    Parise

    Forbort

    LaDue

    Hakstol

  17. I'm down on Jost bolting but, He seems to be developing quite well with this group in Colorado, He is making an impact at times, in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Probably was best for him to work it out and grow with this group in the NHL this year.
