  1. Yeah we won pretty handily but we played awful. Nervous about this year.

Only losing to Northern Iowa by 12 (down 2 at half) was an encouraging sign, considering 3 suspected contributors didn't play. With that said, tonight's game was a little shaky.

  2. Faison isn't happy with the Gobc.

We go behind his back to much

    We want purp

If somehow Ray Purpur could be persuaded to take the AD job at UND, that would be one of the biggest accomplishments for UND athletics in a long time, if not ever.

If you and your GOBC think they can accomplish that, go for it!

  3. Impressive win. Garmin showed if you give him some room he can run. He isn't the kind of RB who breaks tackles, he reads blocks and makes guys miss. We gave up some big third down conversions but we had guys with the receivers. They need to attack the ball but last year we had guys all by themselves on those plays. We did get fooled on their long TD but the comeback is something this coaching staff can look back on as a turning point. You guys need to lighten up on Rudolph. The oline has slowly improved over the course of this season and have given us some semblance of a running game. Studsrud did what they needed him to do. He didn't turn the ball over and didn't panic on the last drive. Defensive line did great job and our younger kids are improving game to game. Didn't like KO coverage but we had good punt coverage and hang time on punts. We had only 9 guys on the field when they botched their punt and we ended up with ball inside their 10. Those things can't happen. Didn't like the pass interference called on us by side judge from 30 yds away nor the holding on Tilman near end of game on their third down. Same guy made both calls. Bubba said that crew does decent job but he was too far away to yell at the guy.

Disappointing turnout by fans esp students. They could choose to be part of this turnaround. Administration could help by making this more of an event experience. Don't think Faison understands that. I agree scoreboard management at Alerus is worthless. What is so difficult about posting current scores from around the country? Top 25 FBS, FCS, Big Sky and area teams of interest. We get the same 3 games with few updates. Are those people that clueless or don't they care.

Good call on the win Gundy.

There's a lot of "not caring" going on with football. Both the UND athletic department (i.e., Faison) and President Kelley need to change their view on football and just athletics in general.

Faison seems to me to be really complacent lately (perhaps ready for retirement?). I think UND athletics needs some new, hungry blood in charge because UND football could be improved so much just by selling the product better, and that starts with the game day atmosphere.

  4. Based on a tweet I saw from about 10 days ago that I originally missed, it appears that UND has an offer out to San Diego RB Tyree Range. He decommitted from the Griz in October.

    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/435776/tyree-range

    https://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Tyree-Range-168312

The kid is the type of athlete UND desperately needs on offense. After watching this season, I'm confident Bubba can mold together a top defense with local recruits, but UND may need to recruit a little farther out for some offensive skill players.
  5. I'm not sure what to make of the defensive numbers. Ranking is near the top of the conference, but it is nearly 30pts per game. That is a lot of points to give up.

Eastern Washington and San Jose State games hurt that average. Both of those games were more about the offense being inept than the defense not playing well.

  6. I think the jury is still out on Rudolph, but for all those doubting the play-calling, tell me one player on the team that is currently an all-conference type offensive player. There is no one. In the Big Sky Conference, UND doesn't have a single student-athlete that would be considered a top 3 positional player amongst the other Big Sky clubs. Way better talent is needed for UND.

  7. Yes. Moreso because some of them aren't a lean as they should be. We used to have big fit mobile OL that would smash people for four quarters.

UND needs to bring in at least 4, maybe 5 or 6, offensive linemen for 2015. And at least 1 of those needs to be a transfer, preferably FBS drop down. Obviously better skill position players are needed too, but it starts up front for UND's offense. I'm confident one of the three QBs (Mollberg, Bartels, or Studsrud) can lead this team if the line is averaging over 3 YPC. That will require better talent than is currently on the roster, though. As you have said, Knauf (OL coach) is not high on the OL personnel UND currently has.

As for the defensive line, the future looks good.

Both Dranka and Greely look good for true freshmen; they have a bright future. Add in Hinojosa, Carrothers, and Woodsmall and I think UND has good DL group. Doesn't hurt to add a FBS transfer though; also need to consider good HS group coming in with 2015 recruiting class.

Given Bubba's philosophy, UND's success starts and ends in the trenches. Right now, the DL is playing way better than the OL, and the level of play of the offense and defense in games indicates that.

  8. And getting beat down by FU by 40 points will help in the rebuilding process how? This was the worst decision Faison has ever made; I hope it turns out better than I think it will. ???

    .

UND gets "beat down" by 40 against NDSU, then UND will likely get "beat down" versus Montana and Eastern Washington as well, and those games are played essentially annually. The point is, playing NDSU should happen all the time, if not annually. This idea that we should throw blame on scheduling is just plain stupid.

If you're worried/scared competing against other FCS programs, particularly rivals, then being successful is out of the question. Embrace the challenge.

  9. Bubba shortened his timeframe to get things together in my opinion when he insisted on bending over for NDSU and wanted to schedule two away games. He darn well better be competative next year or that decision will be a disaster.

That game isn't the deadline. UND most likely will not have it all together by week 3 next season. It will take a year or two to acquire the pieces and develop them before UND is a FCS playoff-caliber team.

  10. So we can't laugh when their fans whose heads are gigantic after this 33 game unbeaten streak say they could take down half the Big 10. Have you been drinking a little Bison Kool Aid Bin?

NDSU is the type of the FCS football program that UND wants to become. It doesn't take "kood-aid" to see that. Right now, UND has very few top-end student-athletes on its roster; that means both quality and quantity (depth) are an issue. I dislike NDSU relative to UND as much as any true UND fan, but there's no question NDSU has the best football program in the FCS right now. If UND can just crack the top 10 of the FCS, that would be considerable progress. Thankfully, due to Bubba, his staff, and the upcoming High Performance Center indoor practice facility, I think UND can become a top 10 FCS program. Like I said in the recruiting thread though, UND needs to start acquiring some bigger, stronger, and faster student-athletes as a start.

  11. Yesterday's game versus Weber State basically confirms what we already knew; this team, due to Mussman's piss poor recruiting, has very few quality DI players (depth a concern also). There needs to be roster turnover and a lot of recruiting, both in HS prospects and with transfer prospects, this off-season.

Thankfully, Bubba realizes this and he knows the type of athletes UND needs from being at Southern Illinois. Eventually, Bubba will get the athletes he needs.

2014 recruiting class still has tons of potential due to all the early playing time within it already and 2015 class is looking good also.

  12. Weber only had 276 total yards, although I suppose some of that was due to getting conservative after going up by 21 early in the second half.

That gift-wrapped touchdown as a result of the punter being unable to handle the high snap really hurt.

UND needs to recruit four or five receivers, with most needing to play immediately.

The entire offense needs four or five new players that can be improvements and play immediately next year.

  13. Not gonna say anything til after the game.

Say anything now and it will be emotionally-based and, well, bad.

I am sick of this sh*t though. I was promised competitive games by Brian Faison, not blowouts to a conference team that has yet to win this season.

    Good lord

  14. 2014: 4-8 (2-6 BSC)

    2015: 6-5 (5-3 BSC)

    2016: 8-3 (6-2 BSC)

My expectation for a successful UND football rebuild, using the precedent set by other division I college football rebuilds.

With that said, still one game at a time for this team. Hope for a win today against Weber State.

    Go UND!

  15. It's a poor excuse

There aren't that many tags issued this year!

Especially where majority of Und aupporters hunt in 2c and 2b

Hunt in the morning, go to the Alerus and watch UND get their 4th win, hunt before dark.

    My Saturday plan

  16. Just win.

Bubba gets a pass this year for obvious rebuilding reasons, but next year I expect a winning season due to a relatively easier conference schedule.

This patience bullsh*t is getting old. The only thing I read on blogs and in newspapers regarding UND football is "it will take time" this and "patience" that. Any successful college football program expects to win immediately; it's the name of the game. UND expected to win in DII, but now in DI FCS, UND is a bottom-half less-than-average football program and that should appall true UND supporters. The Montana's and NDSU's of the world aren't allowed three consecutive losing seasons.
