Maybe it's been mentioned already, but I think field level seating/standing areas behind the endzones could be an interesting idea. It could be something similar to the standing areas up above the endzones, or it could be sectioned off into 3 or 4 group seating/standing areas on each end.
I provided a few posts on this within this thread a while back. I strongly agree this should be looked into.

If we get an all inclusive list I will hand deliver it. Not saying 100% will be on the video but we should be able to get a lot on it.
Big thing that UND marketing/gameday staff needs to be aware of too is that these highlights should not be limited to only the opening intro video.
Its perfectly okay and actually beneficial to play highlights at halftime or during quarter breaks to get the fans into the game. Many universities do this around the country.
Biggest example would be previous game highlights so average fans are familiar with what the team has been doing/accomplishing in recent weeks ...

This really is good news. I think you'll see and hear better music and a better hype video. Need some old school history in the hype video. Top hype video plays are.........?
4th and 6 National Championship game (obvious reason)
Kleinsasser eating up NDSU, skinny post route splitting defenders (showed our dominance in that play and game)
Mooney strip for TD (historic turning point in rivalry)
.....many more but I need these 3 or the video is complete !@#$ in my mind
I completely agree. Need all those big moments from over the years to make up 50% of video with the other 50% coming from all the great 2016 highlights. The most recent 2016 team was very close and there's no use to remove fans too far from where Bubba has currently got this team! Tradition and direction both need to be included! Plenty of pick 6s and long runs from last year.

Montana will be a tough game if their offense is clicking. Griz have speed and with a QB that can run could give UND defense a tough challenge. UND will need to control the tempo of this game. Pound the rock down their throat. I was in Montana the last time UND played them. Great game day experience except UND was without Studs and Cole was very banged up. This year will be difference.
Montana will definitely present a challenge based on their homefield advantage. With that said, UND needs to be able to run the ball and get solid QB play from their senior QB; if they get that, UND should be able to pull out a hard fought game in Missoula. Always tough to win there.

UND can pull the upset vs Utah if they protect the football and ultimately win the turnover battle. UND will have more experience than Utah at some key positions. With all that said, it comes down to whether or not UND's players can play composed under the pressure of a PAC-12 venue. If so, UND has the talent to pull the upset. One game at a time and UND needs to focus on Utah for now.

Well the committee had their first meeting...in Bubba we trust.
Good. They best brainstorm and improve gameday.
There is a lot of hype building around Grand Forks for 2017 UND football (evidenced by ticket sales), so UND best put on a show (including tailgating and pre-game).

Man, I strongly dislike NDSU.
Thank President Kennedy for advocating and getting UND into the MVFC; only way UND can fix this run of dominance by NDSU (both on-the-field and off-the-field with recruiting) is by beating them head-to-head. UND will now have that opportunity (albeit in a couple years) to consistently best the Ag school head-to-head.
Until people, including local recruits, see UND cares about football and can outduel NDSU on the field, the scale will continue to tip in the Ag school's favor.

The new fiscal year is right around the corner, as is the end of Jones' mini-extension. Think those two are related?? I'd imagine so. For an athletic department that has no money, how do you sign a coach for an extension worth hundreds of thousands of dollars? You wait for July 1st when the money (and budget) is available. Does UND need to go public with each step in the process? No, I don't believe they do. Is it strange it's taking this long? Sure, but if Jones wasn't being re-signed he'd be gone by now. The guy would be coaching elsewhere at this time of the year.
Yes, it is strange. I hope Mr. Jones and his staff and players can continue to perform at the level (top of the conference) now expected of them.

Everyone acts like UND should be held to a special standard relative to other Big Sky Conference and Summit Conference basketball programs. Would those other programs delay a men's basketball coach resigning like this? Very rarely, if ever. Unless more information comes out, UND has handled this resigning of a DI basketball coach in a relatively embarrassing fashion. The athletic department could use a rehaul and a new (younger) mind at the top would be a nice place to start.

Outdoor ain't gonna happen up here. There's a reason they're called fair weather fans.
This is most certainly the truth. Unless an INDOOR football stadium gets built in Grand Forks, UND football is best situated where they currently are within the Alerus Center.

I know this has been posted elsewhere, but why can't we buy the Adidas hats/gear the coaches wear???
Lack of a specific deal with Adidas that includes complete merchandise availability. That is, UND football has only a program-specific deal in place with Adidas, not a department-wide deal; therefore, the options - including the retail options for fans - are limited.
A department-wide apparel deal (as mentioned here: http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4285706-und-focusing-athletic-department-wide-apparel-deal) would most certainly change the current limitations by allowing all UND apparel to be better available for UND fans. How would this be accomplished? Through athletic department consistency with a single athletic apparel corporation, such as Adidas, Nike, or Under Armour. This is one of the reasons the pending deal is significant and must get done.

Not real surprising and I hope Bolinske does well for them.
Hopefully the staff has learned from its mistakes of going 2 years without bringing in a legitimate scholarship QB prospect. Having to bring in 2 transfer QBs from California in one off-season isn't a habit UND should fall into.
I wish the best for Bolinske, but I could see before he even stepped foot on campus that he wasn't going to make it as a DI quarterback for UND (see my comments in the recruiting thread on here - which I got plenty of flak for via the "experts").
The two transfer QBs that UND has now brought in allows for improvement at the QB position, but UND definitely needs to better emphasize high school DI-caliber QBs in the recruiting process. This needs to start with the 2018 recruiting class.

Lol ralston and Hennessy fighting on radio this morning about which brand they should be. Ralston says Nike has better performance
hennessy says adidas looks better

From an athletics quality standpoint, Nike and Under Armour are far and away the top two brands. That includes consideration for the clothing/gear that the fans can purchase, so it would be wise for the fans to hope for one of those two brands, also. This is evidenced by the fact that Adidas has lost quite a few university deals lately as universities have signed new deals with Nike and Under Armour instead (e.g., Wisconsin, Michigan, Norte Dame, UCLA).
With all this said, Adidas is likely to be the highest bidder and, with that, they'll get the nod. I'm ultimately fine with any of the three as UND athletics and their supporters just deserve a consistent identity.
Final comment: Hennessy needs to get his eyes checked.

Department over individual programs. UND MIH and their Reebok agreement may be in jeorpary, although doubtful. Adidas is most likely going to be the highest bidder, but who knows what exactly will happen with the request for proprosol.

This pending deal, whenever its finalized, will be good for the athletic department. In fact, it should've been done years ago. Look around the DI collegiate athletics landscape and you'll quickly realize a department-wide athletic deal is hands-down the best option moving forward. I commend President Kennedy and AD Brian Faison on getting this going - nice work! As referenced in Miller's article, the way UND currently operates with athletic apparel (and that includes what the fans can purchase and wear!) is outdated and DII in format.

Simple fact is, if we lose reserved tailgating spots, it's probably the end of my investing in tailgating gear.
I completely understand where you're coming from. With that said, since you are so invested, do you really feel many would arrive before you if the lots were all open ("first come, first serve")?
The way I see it, those who are invested and committed to tailgating are typically the first ones to arrive to the lots anyways. Considering that, opening the lots to everyone (no reservations) would likely improve the layout of tailgating by eliminating the gaps and not harm those invested ("diehards"). You may end up seeing more people out and about tailgate alley than you would think if people didn't have to reserve a tailgate spot.
Issue with not allowing reservations for tailgate is it is a gamble for the athletic department; it directly eliminates cash flow from those paying for spots. For that reason, it likely won't happen. It could potentially pay off though if open tailgating translated to increased attendance.

Do what it takes to sell the tailgating spots to local businesses. lots of big businesses in Fargo but spots and let their employees manage them. One spot will bring 50-100 tailgaters. Not all go to the game but it just adds to the atmosphere. Find an an incentive to get them to purchase a spot.
I agree with this. It would possess the most potential if businesses rather than individuals purchased the remaining spots. The spots shouldn't be purchased just for the sake of purchase; they need to be actually utilized by folks who want to be there.
Secondly, I agree that the student tailgate should be integrated into the reserved tailgate spots (tailgate alley). There is no reason to keep them separate as it seems to hurt the collective tailgate effort more than anything.

didn't know exactly where to put this but it looks like they are redoing the grass south of the hpac? seems to be about the length and width of a football field...
I do not know any specific details about this, but I can imagine it would be nice for UND football to have a grass practice field at their disposal for 2017.
With that said, I do not believe UND has a regular season game scheduled on a grass field for 2017.

8 questions for the offense:
1. Will Aplin/Rooney take the next step, as centers tend to do, following their first year of steady action (I refer back to Boas as a recent example of huge progression from year 1 to 2?
2. Will Studsrud settle down in the pocket early this year and make the routine look, well, routine?
3. Is Grady the missing link that adds talent and depth at the line so the surge can be more reminiscent of 2015?
4. Is Johanneson the real deal?
5. Can our big rangy wide outs add superb blocking on the outside to their list of attributes (I feel that this is an underrated skill that Top FCS teams do really well)?
6. What will the backup QBs bring to the table this year?
7. Will Demun emerge as a lethal long range weapon for the entire year?
8. What impact will speedsters McKinney and Adeoti (speculating that RS will be pulled) have on this year's offense?
All of those are fine questions. It will be an interesting lead-up, as usual, to the first game in Utah.

UND elite 1-day camps are crucial. I would expect committments after the first one, June 22nd. Not only does it allow the staff to evaluate prospective student-athletes in person (which is key), but it also implicitly shows who really wants to be at UND as the participants travel up to Grand Forks.
I absolutely couldn't agree more with the emphasis that the staff puts on these camps - they have been phenomenal for UND football recruiting since Bubba has been HC.

What's Needed At The Alerus?

Alerus Center definitely half-assed it for a long time ... the gameday atmosphere committee and new Alerus Center management seems to be making a difference so far, though (consider new sound system).
