This will end up a limbo year pushing UND on towards extended mediocrity. 6-5, no playoffs some happy because UND improved from 2017 and had a winning record some upset and angry because UND missed playoffs all depends what your expectations are, and those are all over the place on this website

Whoa, take it easy. You’re using logic. That kind of thought doesn’t belong with the UND offense.

3 yards and a cloud of dust is a style. I guess the phrasing you’re looking for is Bubba is enamored with a lack of style.

Bubba and his crew get so caught up in style that they often forget about the most important thing: WINNING! I could care less what style UND plays if they win. The people around UND are so enamored by 3 yards and a cloud of dust that they fail to realize that style may be the reason UND is losing ...

So give Frost 3 to 4 years to prove it but give Bubba 10 or 11 years? C'mon man, your double standards are killing me.

What the hell kind of a hypothetical scenario is this? So you're eliminating record, academics, coaching, and facilities ... I guess I would say tradition and location would be the next in line then; still plenty to offer from both school in that case.

Horrible analogy. Those NFL issues were exceptions, not the norm. Plus they're playoff teams. UND has 1 playoff appearance in 4 full seasons under Bubba and they have a pattern of continual blowing games. What happened on 9/22/18 was similar to what happened in 2015, 2016 playoffs, etc. At some point in time you are what you are and you can’t put lipstick on a pig.

I don’t agree with your primary argument. I agree that Grand Forks in general supports hockey more than football, but this is for several reasons rather than the generic arguement that GF likes hockey more than football, it is a hockey town, blah blah blah ... 1) The Ralph Engelstad Arena - nicest venue to watch a game of any kind in all of ND; just happens that hockey is the sport played in there. 2) Hockey consistently wins, at both high school and college level, in Grand Forks. GF doesn’t expect nor want a UND football program that continually chokes in front of them on Homecoming. They want a winner plus consistency. They get that with UND hockey. UND football needs to win and Bubba can’t consistently do that.

They aren’t capable of going 8-3 or 7-4 after what they’ve shown thus far. Their wins are appearing well below average. I agree that 8-3 would be deserving of FCS playoffs, but I don’t see how this team - with how the players play and the coaches coach - can have a winning season.

UND scored just 21 points against Idaho State. UND scored 0 points the entire second half. Idaho State’s top defender was hurt in the 1st quarter and did not return. Idaho State surrendered 45 points in their previous game. UND’s offense needed to make adjustments. It was awful in the 2nd half. In fact, it has been awful in the second half for 4 straight games now. It’s officially their identify right now.

The worst part of yesterday’s loss was not simply the fact UND lost to a historically poor football program in the Alerus Center (upsets happen in college football), but the fact that this exact thing has happened before under Bubba and it is becoming a pattern of incompetence and incapability. The recurring nature of these losses worries me tremendously.

Fumble on the goal line was the start of the disaster. A score wouldve put UND up 21-6. The second half was pure hopelessness. Possibly one of the worst 2 quarter stretches of football I’ve seen from UND under Bubba. The fact it happened with a semi-packed House (11,000 +) and with UND ranked just makes it that much worse. It’s like 2015 on repeat. The defense only gave up 6 points in the second half so I can’t be too critical of them, although the first half rushing defense was atrocious. The major issue here is obvious: the offense scored 0 points in the entire second half! The QB missed throws but ultimately the offensive line didn’t dominate like it needed to. Obviously they needed to run the ball in the second half and get a couple scores but the offensive front for UND again stalled in the second half. This horrible, momentum-killing loss is on both the players and coaches. *BUT the coaches recruit the players, so obviously it comes back to the coaches overall.

These are legitimate concerns and, unfortunately, I think you are right. Football was slowly downsized after 2001 and we now are where we are.

I liked him (“The Fighting Hawk”). Felt legitimate like other DI universities with their mascot. Now, as for the product on the field, that did not feel legitimate like other DI universities ...

Schmidt doesn’t walk on water, but when comparing UND’s offense to UND’s defense, it’s obvious which one is truly pathetic.

This is the worst; it’s become the absolute norm for UND under Bubba.Tom Miller’s article sort of predicted this would happen. The mental make-up of Bubba’s teams is lacking and it leads to no consistency.
