  1. Yes, they are both poor head coaches but decent coordinators.
  2. These coaches aren’t capable of said work, unfortunately. Some things - whether we like it or not - do require talent and they just do not have that talent/ability.
  3. This is the current state of reality, unfortunately.
  4. UND and NDSU have similar offensive styles but have different schemes and play-calling. Watch and compare the film. No question NDSU also has more talented players, but NDSU runs and calls a legitimate offense. Rudolph’s formations, play calls, and nuances in coaching (particularly with the QBs in pass reads) are all very amateur and poorly done.
  5. Current UND football coaching philosophy: Forget the scoreboard, we won the time of possession. Excellent synopsis. Points Bubba, UND football needs actual scoreboard points!

    Wtf

It’s important to consider the sequence of recent events in the context of division I FCS football. Do not relate this to high school football, the NFL, or even division I FBS football; the process needs to be done justice this way and correctly analyzed. With all that said, I believe the direction and leadership of UND football is lacking. Although very subjective, the “eye test” often works for those who have watched their fair share of football games over the years. UND football currently does not pass the “eye test”. There is unmotivated, lackadaisical body language and poor football scheme out on the field. I think the contract situation will unfortunately prevent wholesale change, but Mr. Chaves and the head football coach need to get some things changed because it’s obviously not working as is - very obvious .
  7. Well, I doubt an offer of $205k would be made. It likely won’t happen this year, unfortunately, but when Chaves hires his guy for head coach it will come with a higher base salary than $205k. I imagine something around $300k would be the offer, which even your beloved NDSU coordinators would likely strongly consider.
  8. This is somewhat reassuring. I was worried a false identity was about to run rampant.
  9. For the record, UND’s athletic director is Bill Chaves. To my knowledge there is no one named “Chavez” in the department.
  10. I guess I just expect Chaves to pay the going rate when he hires a new coach, thus UND won’t have a bottom salary in the MVFC. I would expect Chaves to hire the next coach at around $300,000 salary.
  11. I don't necessarily agree with your other comments regarding Bubba being capable of turnaround, but I absolutely agree with this comment. At the very least UND needs a coaching and philosophy change on offense and special teams.
  12. Not much for innovation, huh? Funny how UND hockey always attracts the traditionalists.
  13. No one is proud of the UND football program's current leadership and direction. It just is embarrassing that some among the fan base feel it necessary to bring up women's ice hockey, which is completely unrelated to UND football's issues.
  14. Important to note that the lack of 4th down offense has came up multiple times throughout the season. Interesting (and quite disappointing) that it was a recurring issue all season for UND football.
  15. This is so true. Culture (winning attitude) is based on coaching. Recruiting is based on coaching. Philosophy and scheme is based on coaching. I will post what @SiouxVolley posted earlier. It is a good read for anyone wanting to relate coaching and program building to an actual example. https://medium.com/therecord/syracuse-football-the-art-of-building-a-program-4b5120588046
  16. Well, that is just anecdotal evidence of ignorance. That doesn't establish a trend.
  17. So they follow successful FCS football ... that's a positive and shows the importance of having successful FCS football. How many times did they ask about women's ice hockey? We all know women's ice hockey is rarely, if ever, a point of random conversation. Now, college football is a completely different story.
  18. This is completely untrue. "Fans outside of the state" are definitely more aware and willing to follow the most popular sport in the country (football) than lowly women's ice hockey.
  19. I agree. The best FCS program in the country is just 80 miles south of UND. Go down there and hire up some winning culture. The current state of affairs for UND football is very poor.
