Thanks for the updates!

They do bring money to the table, that’s the point. Perhaps too much, which is a point of contemporary controversy. Do some research.

No degree of help in the world could have ultimately helped Mussman. What’s he doing nowadays? Horrible in-bred promotion hire when Lennon left. Sound familiar?
-
Well, sure, UND is not Bama or Texas, but nothing says UND football has to extend their coach after a losing season, either. Nothing at all. Unless you want to extend the status quo of mediocrity. So there’s that. Also, even if UND is not ‘bama or Texas, they don’t have to pay their football coaches like elementary school janitors*. *I apologize in advance if any of you are elementary school janitors.

Spot on. What do you know? Fans and their expectations do matter, but who would’ve thought?

You really read into things too much. I stated in the post you quoted that things are not as good or as bad as they seem, trying to prevent extremists like you from splitting everything. But, here we are … NDSU has had really good players because the really good players wanted to go there. And they develop into better players. North Dakota local kids turning into great DI players has been a staple of NDSU for the past decade. Whereas at UND, you had Mussman as coach for several years, losing several games in blowout fashion, including to an NAIA school, and stating that UND shouldn’t recruit ND kids because they aren’t good enough to play DI. Hilarious- set UND back big time while boosting NDSU’s success. But *fans* from 2009-2012 were okay with it, until 2013 came around and then *fans* had enough and put their money where their mouth is and bought him out. The NDSU program, including strength and conditioning, is top tier. The boosters and *fans* of NDSU, with Team Makers, have been a major component of NDSU’s football success the last 10+ seasons. To deny that or try make fun of that is just pure ignorance. Put your money where your mouth is; turns out that it works. Considering the record breaking success NDSU football has had the past decade, only complete idiots would try to belittle that. Instead, the focus needs to be on the future for UND football. And yes, expectations from the *fans* set the future.

I hope UND goes 4-0 in their final 4 games. They control their own destiny.

Good one. I fixed it for you so you won’t lose any sleep tonight.

Unfortunately, Bubba gets contract extensions even after losing seasons. I’m not convinced. He’s more likely to retire in 5 years rather than get fired. That’s where the UND athletic department and Bill Chaves deserves plenty of criticism. The expectations for non-hockey sports just aren’t there, and that just won’t work. Although Grand Forks is close, UND is not in Canada and it’s still a member of the NCAA. Losing sight of the potential of football and basketball is a horrible mistake.

I’ll take your word for it, @SiouxBoys. Your insight is breathtaking.

Whatever makes you feel good about the status quo. It’s not all perfect. It’s not all that bad. Somewhere in between. In Fargo, the fans are something else, but their demands for a winning football team have led to several championships, so there’s that fact you can’t overlook.

I think those three posters, myself included, are probably a sample of the biggest UND football fans. None of them are sucking up to the coaches or the program, and are certainly not content with .500 football. If you ask me, UND football would be in a lot better place if the masses actually thought this way and weren’t accepting of perennial .500 football in Grand Forks.

News alert: UND wants to force a turnover. I’m glad. I hope to see several forced turnovers by UND defense/special teams on 10/29/22.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/no-23-und-focusing-on-turnovers-ahead-of-matchup-with-abilene-christian?fbclid=IwAR0QO6iiRmpXQsifZrRfQpwZS67f0cIQvDnIj-07JAjslvkiTIjqV_kaS8k this is embarrassing, Not the article, but the fact it took a loss to reignite this focus for Bubba and his coaching staff? Turnovers should be the focus before every game. Hell, read my pregame SDSU comments on here and you’ll see I said the team that protects the ball the best will win. That’s not rocket science, it’s true for every game.

They were all bad plays. Very bad. Not championship football caliber, that’s for damn sure.

Abilene Christian’s most recent game: a win versus Southern Utah.

Need someone in charge who both likes their job and is good at it. It’s hard to find that for the Alerus Center in the context of football production/entertainment. UND and the Alerus Center need to put their money where their mouth is and get it done, but ultimately, they just don’t seem to care. They have no pride and are fine half-assing everything. But, when it comes to REA, UND and hockey … good lord

Going from 5-2 (spring 2021) to 5-6 (fall 2021) was a major momentum killer for the program. Can’t blame that all on 3 players not returning, particularly when UND still had a future NFL offensive lineman on the team. Bubba did the same thing from 2016 to 2017. Keeps sending UND football backwards and is why the program fails to ascend. Leadership is flawed for UND football. Not to the level it needs to be to get UND from a contender to a champion.
-
Yep, the band antics are cringeworthy. But not as cringeworthy as the overall lapses the Alerus Center puts forth. Completely amateur at best.
-
Don’t know how many times they practiced that bubble screen, but I do know they didn’t execute it well on Saturday and the botched result was a major momentum swing given UND was up 14-0 and had the ball … Need to do better. Next opportunity is against ACU on 10/29/22.

That Covid-19 season was a unique one. Very unfortunate UND didn’t carry over the momentum to the 2021 fall season, considering majority of team returned. In my opinion, that was an absolute travesty in terms of coaching blunders.
