  1. I never actually "claimed" that. I started that thread on BV as a joke when I was completely bored one day, and I requested the admin to shut it down after it started took a turn south. BTW, I have not even seen the Force play, but I've seen UND play several times on TV, and I'll be watching the RPI game, despite being the avowed hockey hater that I am.
  2. Really??!! Then why, if UND makes the title game, will I in all likelihood be in St. Paul watching, and why will I be watching UND on tv against RPI??!! And, sorry, but my "world" is not centered around bison football--unlike some who's world IS centered upon a certain sport/nickname-related issue. Am I a huge fan of NDSU football? You bet!! Do I want hockey at NDSU? No? Why not? Because hockey is not a tradition at NDSU. At UND it is. I'm perfectly comfortable with that scenario. Also, notice I use, and have always used NDSU in reference to sports there. In other words (and perhaps food for thought for some), I always say, when asked where I played FB after high school, "I played for North Dakota State University". I don't say, "I played for the Bison" or even "at" NDSU. I played for the University. Just like NDSU is not Bison University, UND is not the University of Sioux, at least the last time I checked on both.
  3. Were you guys saying the same things about SCSU, Mankato and UNO when they started hockey and wanted to join the WCHA? Keep in mind, Moorhead State IS a D2 school, which is a higher level then many in the NCAA tournament--including your opponent! Otherwise, and in the FWIIW category, the majority of you should be considering strongly the position taken by mikejm on not only this issue, but the logo issue, at least IMO.

  5. Do you think their hockey program will make a turn around like their BB has??
  6. Lack of credibility, as it is all politics, much like the bill itself.
  7. Share please, before the speculators come marching in.
  8. Perhaps, to make a statement, UND should not play them in FB or any other sport. See if Kelley will go with that.
  9. So maybe then Douple was telling the truth??!! Can't have it both ways people.
  10. There's a motorcycle show in there sometime in early April. Do you think they will ban Indian Motorcycles from participating??
  11. If I were a UND football coach, player or fan, or even the AD, I would not be willing to accept the sanction of not being allowed to host home playoff games. Heck, just being a football fan in the area, having such sanction would torque me off. Not to mention that the Alerus and UND athletics could use the influx of funds from a home FB playoff game. Wasn't there recently a thread on this forum about the Alerus' income problems?
  12. That is flat out BS on Hloser. About a year ago, he ripped Goetz and Kupchella for not doing that, and, now, of course, rip on a former Governor/now Senator, who is a republican. Hloser is one of the biggest Dbag politicians ever in ND. What an effin loser for saying that, and a two-faced liar. Unreal!!--well maybe not.
  13. Thank you--now I don't have THE biggest understatement about this issue.
  14. OK, so the SBoHE would have standing to challenge the contitutionality of this bill until Jan1, 2015, but really is a lame duck as of November 2012 if the bill passes in that election. Here's kinda a repost of an earlier post of mine just to get these "discussion" points back on the table and easy to review. I reviewed the settlement agreement and judgment documents from the NCAA lawsuit. Here's a couple of interesting tidbits. First, the Plaintiff (that's the person or entity who brings a lawsuit) is, and I quote, "State of North Dakota by and through the SBoHE and the University of ND". You catch that? The State of North Dakota was the plaintiff, not the SBoHE or UND. Also, an anti-trust claim was asserted, along with breach of contract, etc., and ALL claims that were or could have been asserted in the lawsuit were DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE. Technically, that means the same claims, or even claims that weren't asserted on the same issue can not be brought EVER again, by the Plaintiff involved in that lawsuit. As for the SBoHE, that is CONSTITUTIONALLY CREATED by Section 6 of Article VIII of the ND Constitution, which, at least the last time I checked, was still in existence. Section 6 provides that the SBoHE was created, and I quote again, "for control and administration of [ND colleges and Universities]", including UND. Also, there is nothing in the Constitution that allows the ND legislature to control the constitutionally created entity that is the SBoHE. So, let's do a little math. First, we know that laws that are unconstitutional are not enforceable. We also know that the SBoHE is a constitutionally created entity (see above) and that it, and only it (at least at this juncture), has the constitutional power and authority to control UND (again, see above please). We also know that the ND legislature has no power or authority to control the SBoHE. Also, and lastly on the equation, the bill is telling the SBoHE AND UND what they can and/or can not do. The bill also tells the AG to consider bringing an anti-trust lawsuit against the NCAA, which as already been done. What may become interesting is the language of the Stipulation for Dismissal in the prior lawsuit that say all claims asserted or that could have been asserted in that lawsuit are dismissed with prejudice. HERE WE GO! Just think, tho, at least ND isn't Wisconsin and having a fight between the govenator and state employees--things could be worse!!
  15. Now nickname supporters need to focus on the proposed legislative referendum to amend the ND Constitution to essentially eliminate the SBoHE. If that bill passes (not even sure where it stands right now), then the question becomes whether there is a June primary election this year. Don't know that personally right now either. If so, then will the question be put on that ballot, or will it or does it HAVE to be a question for the general election ballot because it could amend the ND Constitution--again, not sure on that. Even if a June ballot question, and assuming it passes, when does that measure become effective? Again, not sure. But, for know, the SBoHE would have standing because of its constitutional stature and power to control ND colleges and universities. Like I said earlier, this is is long from over--ya, I know Sicatoka--major understatement. Anybody got time to do some research this weekend?!
  16. Is there anything in the bill regardig the effecitve date? If not, then it is August 1, 2011, assuming the Govenator signs it. The "retirement" date for the nickname is August 15, 2011, right??? The timing of this kinda mucks things up, but we will definetely be hearing more about all of this in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Anybody know any "good" attorneys?
  17. So it would have been when I first arrived on campus that Dale got in touch with me. I just didn't recall that he was D-line coach, not a GA. In any event, it would be interesting to see where UND's program would be had he stayed. Probably in better shape, but I still think if UND gets back to being a physical running team on offense (with passing ability to keep teams honest) and playing physical, attacking, pursuit-type defense, you will be just fine in the Big Sky--In fact, no question about it in my mind.
  18. Hmmm? That could very well be. When did he come back to UND then? I was there from Fall of 89 to Spring of 92. Wait, this is starting to jog my memory a little. It may be that he contacted me after he returned, not when I arrived. Whatever it was, I still respect him a lot for taking the initiative to do so and for simply being descent.
  19. Pulling schollies happens more than people think. When you see someone deciding to transfer, for example, the underpinnings of it are more likely than not that a scholly, whether full or otherwise, has been pulled.
  20. No, not anymore. Early on he was. As for Lennon, his coaching experience away from UND likely played major role in his ultimate success, along with the kind of person he is. For example, Lennon was a GA when I played for the Bison. Within the first month or so of me being at UND after NDSU, I got a messege that he wanted to talk to me. I called, he welcomed me to UND, and invited me out for a beer and BS session. We met up a few days later, had a couple of beers together, talked UND and NDSU football and other mutual interests. Thought that was pretty cool of him. Also, to this day when we see each other he says "Hey" CAS (remembers my name), we shake hands, shoot a little BS, and go our seperate ways. I think this is just one example of the kind of man he is and why he is such an excellent coach.
  21. This sounds like Vigen, OC and QB coach at NDSU. What intitially concerned me, and which has shown its ugly head in the last coupe of years, is that a person who "played" tight end in college, and has not obtained additional coaching experience to any extent, will likely not end up being a good QB coach and or OC. Hope you have better luck with Fruend than we have had with Vigen.
  22. With this sort of rationale: one would think Hobo Days at SDSU is in some serious danger of extinction.
  23. Gheesh, I don't think that is what the OP meant. What he meant is that local media obviously gets some possible story source from forums like this, not that you guys just cut-n-paste--Easy, Easy!!!
  24. Prepare for protests against a comedy act of all things!!
