It has always been said that in the WCHA you can't take a night off and every team is pretty tough. I was looking at the teams that will make up the NCHC and 5 of them will likely be getting into the NCAA tournament with a couple others that could still sneak in. I think that league is going to be much harder than the WCHA, there are no doormats at all. The worst teams based on today's standings will be Western Michigan and St. Cloud neither of which are weak programs.  With as hard as that group will be to play in, I would bet a lot of National Champions will be coming out of the NCHC.

Hasn't it been about two months since Rocco's surgery. Wouldn't it be a super duper good surprise if he appeared on the ice this weekend. I know wont happen just a fun thought.

We won the play in game and went on to win the final five two years ago.

I am interested, the rules in Ray77's post say a player will lose "some" eligibility if they compete in major juniors before there HS graduation. What does that mean?

A tie tomorrow would be great, but you can be sure the Gwoz will be all over his boys and get them fired up for tomorrow. If we play like tonight it will be quite a game.

I gotta say, we play like this and I like our chances against anyone in the league. What great team playing tonight!

I would like to see the nchc implement penalties in the form of fines to the refs when they make idiot calls like the one on McWilliams.

I still can't get used to Blood with hair. I liked him better with the shaved head, the Vin Diesel look was tough.

I wonder why everyone shooting on Patterson doesn't go high on the glove side. I bet 90% of the goals scored on him are shot there.

If you are referring to the fact that NCAA schools are going to start paying a "Stipend" to players, I totally agree. When it comes down to it, the CHL is just paying a "Stipend" too so what is the difference. All of the sudden all D1 athletes will be ineligible by the NCAA's own rules. This definitely needs to be changed.

I think the Minnesota fans have short memories. As there team wasn't very good the last couple of years and the common excuse was early departures. It is not a lot different, the tactics are similar and the result of a hole in the line up are the same. IMO if you can solve the CHL pulling kids out of college programs maybe it would be a stepping stone to getting the NHL to leave kids alone until they are sophmores or juniors.

We are certainly going to have great depth next year, it will all just be in the goalie position. Saunders made 50 saves on Duluth last night. I really wonder what is going to happen. Dell may not be as big of a flight risk this year as he was after last season. He isn't having as great of a year, he hasn't been terrible but not nearly as solid as last season. Of course, a lot can and will happen throughout the rest of this year. So who knows, but we could potentially be sitting with three elite goalies going into next year.

Looks to me we may have a similar situation next year to what Blais has this year with three great goaltenders. That is if we keep Dell. I am starting to get pretty excited about next year already. I know we have a long way to go yet this year, just fun thinking ahead a bit.

Sounds like this young man will be a nice add to the team. Just hard to know that it will be at the very least three years but likely more, before we see him. A lot will change between now and then. Kind of surprised that Dean Blais wasn't after this guy being he is in Omaha.

I think you right, it doesn't bother him, that is why he will be playing at the next level.

Should be a terrific weekend, I hope the Sioux can deliver. It has been nice to see the goals and great effort coming from the whole line up instead of just the Knight line like it was early in the season. I certainly hope Hakstol and the team take note of how UMn is able to come back even late in the game. They did it to us in Minnesota and did it to the Irish this past weekend. Also just a little wish that someone would lay a nice hit or more on Rau. I haven't watched all of the UMn games but it seems no one has really targeted him despite how many goals he has and how much time he spends standing on the edge of the crease. As RH Peters (Bemidji State) said to us "there are no out of bounds in hockey, lets welcome this young man to our league." Go Sioux!!!

I saw that Gregoire is on the same team as Marto in the AHL. Jason has one goal but has only played 8 games. Wonder if he ever thinks about how much ice time and recognition he would be getting back at UND. On another note Trupp is back from injuries in Cincy, and scored in a shootout to win the game for his team.

Come on, the jersey popping is cool. When I am at work and send out a good e-mail I run around my cubicle popping my sweater vest. Kidding of course, I am firm believer in "Sioux (players & fans) don't jersey pop".
