Anyone bought the game yet? I want to get it but I'm curious about a few things first: Are the FCS teams (including Sioux) included? Does it have offline co-op? I know a couple years ago they got rid of this and you could only compete against someone instead of playing on the same team.

I didn't look up numbers, but if I'm not mistaken St. Clown is about the same size student pop. so I don't know how much flagship has to do with any of it. Some Twin Cities high schools have bubbles like Academy of Holy Angels.

I might have missed it in the thread, but why would a team forfeit a pick?

I can see Mankato not being too thrilled about UNO getting a sweet deal. Not that MSUM would vote against it.

I haven't followed it at all, but there is some research behind natural light being helpful to students, but that would be in a classroom. Also fluorescent lights hinder eye development in children. Looking for a deterrent to fights? Bigger hallways! The last district I was in built a much bigger school and fights were dramatically reduced.

When Lennon was coaching only a few knew where it was and they weren't allowed on the same plane. It's hidden because NDSU students would break into the Sioux locker room to try and steal it even after they had gone DI.

smart move by both Omaha and NMU. Now the WCHA has to recruit them and they could get some incentives. The Herald made it seem like there is an entrance fee into the conference. Anyone know how much? I bet that gets waived for the recruited team.

Didn't he also do the national championship game? And unless there is another Ulwelling he does high school hockey as well.

The different mentalities between GF and Fargo is really interesting. Fargo doesn't believe in the predictions and actually believes the numbers to be to high. GF used the predictions in 97 and ended up not having the dikes high enough. This year with our protection up here in greater GF I was really surprised at how many people believed the NWS was wrong and it would go higher than the predictions so they were all moving between the cities and staying in hotels. one of the things that Fargo smartly did compared to EGF/GF was build contingency dikes well ahead of breaches. I don't remember those in the area until after breaches.

I realize all that but was going with the conversation of the NCAA being asked to step in. After years of thinking it would be the worst thing, I'm beginning to think the BTHC may be good for college hockey.

It is in HD and is even better as they can present even more information. IIRC like more info and stats on the games upcoming for the evening. I've always found it odd that Midco doesn't have ESPNU as station that actually carries college hockey. But maybe they haven't bothered since ESPNU picks up the Sioux feed once in a while. Not sure if they did this year, though. Also got a notice that NFL Network might be on its way out. Not that I watch it that much. I do like that we have BigTen network.

I agree about getting established and have been saying all along that it would be better for each bloated conference to get teams to join a different. Re-alignment would probably be best. But if you are the NCAA how do you do it? By Rivalries? By old original conferences? By location (scariest for us in a way out west)? Maybe much smaller 6 team conference pods are needed and play it like a major sports league where each year the different conferences play all teams in conference 4 times and then rotate each play either home or away against a different conference with a sprinkling of extra non-conference games.

And that's the biggest problem right there. MN will never travel, so would extra games with a school like UND happen? At UND? My guess is UW will stay at home plenty as well. If UND was smart they'd do the same. The other problem with the 20 game schedule is essentially WCHA teams would really only be scheduling WCHA teams. Every other conference would have too many league games to schedule these 'extra' WCHA non-conference games.

I think you could stay in Alaska for a week or like half week and play the four games. Then you'd only have to go once every three years. Though getting the extra couple games has to be a nice benefit.

and now we have to go from trying to hold a lead to actually playing hockey again and scoring a goal.

IIRC the same year we came back on SCSU in the Final Five championship only to have them knock over Goering to win the game.

It is so scary that all these dikes need to hold for for possibly 5 days. No one should have to go through what we did in '97. I have been and will continue to pray for all those involved up and down the valley.
