will Direct TV show the game?

I think I read where like 4 or 5 will be on one of the fcs channels like 608.  You need to get the sports pack to get that channel.  I think still $12 a month extra.

FWIW: Omaha was picked 6th in the pre-season poll in the Summit.  Tomorrow should be 2 good tests. Hope for a least a split and give Ole Miss a run for their money.

I did see that.  Also heard Pryor on Sit Down and Cheer podcast keep saying how UNO was only like 5 points from being NCAA tourney team last year.

  3. over 2000 with like 1200 students.  Too lazy to look up actual numbers but wow did the students show up.  4th highest attendance.

Hard to tell if we were that good or UNO was that bad.  After 2 sets UNO was negative for hitting and we finished with I think 6 errors.

  4. I feel like Jim Rome gave rise to neanderthals like Skip Bayless.  How that guy gets over 3 million a year is beyond me.  I personally quit watching any "news" show on ESPN because he was on their station.

Does he have personal ties to Minot? Where will he be working?

I was not a friend of him right away calling UND games but he honestly grew on me and really enjoyed his play by play. Hope all the best for him.

If he's still with her his girlfriend lives there.

  6. Only because of South Dakota coming up in this thread, but what was the fall out on SD destroying the locker room after losing to us in the Alerus Center last time we played?  Did they pay?

Which brings up another interesting point.  We read all the time how former players sign these big contracts.  Curious to see how loyal they are in the area of donating back to the University that gave them the opportunity to better their career.  Now I am not talking about guys like Nick who get their rookie deal.  I'm talking about the Toews or Parise's out there that sign tens of million dollar contacts.  Is that something that is public info?  Or can a guy like Parise make an anonymous donation to the athletic department (specifically hockey)?

I've heard hockey is one of our worst sports for athletes donating.

Sorry Sic and the rest of ya'll... I'll try something.

Ethan Johnson.... I'm a NW MN boy, so bear with me. Any news on his recruitment anywhere?

Just recently had his try out with Lincoln if I have the right team.

  9. I would guess the fee for the Xcel is hefty.  Keep in mind they have to host girls hockey state, boys hockey state, wrestling???, and Wild games.  I'm sure the X and the Wild would love to be able to have option of Wild games on a weekend of St. Patty's Day.

M/W Tennis are required sports in the Big Sky.  Soccer and Softball are not.  Softball and soccer have shown improvement.  Both teams were at the bottom of the conference again this year, but they were much more competitive than in past years.  The tennis teams, not so much.

I think the HPC will also benefit softball and soccer.

While women's tennis gets scholarships, men's maybe has 1.  We seem to keep more local or US players.  Rest of the Big Sky has very few if any Americans on the team.

  11. Maybe it needs its own thread, but to piggy back the beach volleyball discussion...

The NCAA tournament semifnals are airng on TruTV right now.  I didn't realize that it is run similar to tennis and like 7 different matches are played between the 2 schools.

Like it or not, the Warriors will pull in a bigger audience than college hockey. BTW, anyone have the ratings for last night's game?

Saw 361k I believe. Look for sports TV ratings on twitter. Pretty sure that was what I saw. Memory is bit hazy after the Tampa takeover last might.

I didn't think they could do that during an NC$$ event?

They did for the Thursday games in Philly and then got shut down for Championship.  It was like a cigar lounge during Philly games.

Does that mean the Men and Women are bidding for home games?  Wowza.

That was the impression that I got.  I was hoping Women might get WNIT as their RPI was in 90s earlier last week, but not even sure how many that tourney takes. And I don't think they'd host that.

I had heard the band was being cut also.  Had heard  about it Friday afternoon, same time I heard that they are trying to cut the music therapy department.  Agree that it would be bad to cut the Pride of the North.

Might be worse to cut the therapy.  Not offered many places which means those kids can't transfer.  Might open up lawsuits.

  16. Sounds like rumors were wrong on faison. Now hearing it was the Dean of arts and sciences doing 4% cuts but gutting music massively. Not sure if pride was ever on chopping block but apparently big donor already came in guns ablazing complaining.
