  1. I believe the soccer team has been using EGF field in spring for years. Football used to always have scrimmage there in fall but isn't allowed to anymore. That changed when they went D1. Recruiting issue so it's odd soccer can.

It would be nice if East Grand Forks sponsored a team, and the GF HSs co-oped with them.

Coop option is interesting as already they do swimming, wrestling, and gymnastics co-op on ND side. But i don't think EGF has numbers to do it. Baseball didn't even start until like 6 years ago. EGF already has too many sports for size. TRF is bigger school that offers less options for kids. Travel is also a killer. To many long trips.

BTW boys volleyball is now going to be Minnesota high school sport. It will be interesting to see if anyone outside metro adds.

At the south end Red Pepper, the kid working behind the counter said that the reason they went to the buns that are made in Dickenson is that the buns from Hugos were inconsistent. Meaning they were sending buns of all different sizes. Obviously, that's not good.

Heard the same from downtown one.  Plus they said Hugo's couldn't supply all.

Not positive, but think city ordinance requires a physical barrier between alcohol consumption areas when not all attendees are 21+

That seems dumb when under 21 year olds were INSIDE the fence.

Are the rest of the grinder ingredients the same at RP East as the original RP?

taco meat slight different as in bit meatier.  White sauce also slightly runnier and maybe bit more pepper so does taste bit different.  Shredded cheese is big difference.

Deals at East and more side options like tators (ole's).  Zep (all meats) used to be half price on Mondays not sure anymore.  Tuesdays are 2 for 1 tacos.

  6. And the fence thing needs to go.  If for all ages no point in that.  Had to get a wrist band for booze anyways.

The other weird part is the line to get in was over half a block long and people said they waited 30 to 45 minutes to get in and the concert had already started.

  7. move stage to intersection where porta potties were and then can view from 3 directions.  make sure beer vendors more accessible.  Lines were short because so hard to get to.

  8. Students aren't buying and there is still a waiting list for season tickets.

I was in school while arena built and opened.  The original plans were for students to have 4 bottom sections and 2 top.  Then that got flipped when all of a sudden there was demand.

  9. Probably best to come back from Vegas and have another big rival (former???) in Wisconsin to play, but I still that Friday game will be a let down.

Is it time for NCHC schools to adopt the B1G model? That would be feasting on cupcakes for non-conference games to boost standing in PWR.  Obviously the NCHC regular season is enough of a grind.

Just throwing this out there, but couldn't the NCAA set a minimum seating capacity to host, say 4K.  If your on campus rink does not qualify, then you are required to submit an alternative plan, perhaps partnering with a school in the same predicament?

Or if school doesn't have the capacity it could find arena that is bigger and open or it moves to the #2 seed.

Let's be honest, though.  Regionals won't change and it's not the NCAA.  It's a majority of the teams.  Didn't we try and force this at the coaches meeting and got shot down? East coast loves the set up they have now and many other teams that are used to not playing in front of fans would like to keep it that way.  It's an advantage for them.  Facts are we are talking about 1 regional with an issue that only has an impact on 4 of the teams (1 being beneficial).  All the east coast teams will take their chances on them not being sent that far to play.

So it Red Pepper East pretty similar to the real Red Pepper then?

Yes and no.  Ingredients are slightly different tasting and white sauce also has slight different taste.  I like going to original better for taste.  East has a more expanded menu of sides like tots and wedges.  They also have some deal days like 2 for 1 taco Tuesday and seem to give you more food for a cheaper price.

  12. Red River at EGF.  Pretty even game.  EGF did kill off a 5.  Went to ot 0-0 with EGF on PP.  They got another pp later and RR got one with neither scoring.  20 seconds left scramble in front RR net and player covered puck.  Coby Stauss scored on penalty shot for 1-0 EGF win.

  13. So is the school to the south so bad that we don't even bother to talk about that game?  What is it now 9 straight wins???

watched most and we couldn't make a shot to save our lives in the first half and yet still won.

Look at the losses Ohio State has 2 and Aubrun didn’t get hosed they have 3 losses. If Alabama had 2 losses then Wisconsin should have been in over Ohio State, even though they lost to Ohio State.

The only problem I see happening with going to 8 with conference champions getting autobids is, when a conference champion has 3 losses when there are teams with 1 loss that get left out. There is really no perfect way to do the playoff unless you have 12 or 16 teams in the playoffs.

Its time for the P5 to stop playing FCS teams and have all conferences play the same number of conference games. Alabama or anyone can’t predict where someone is ranked whey they play them when the schedules are made.

I didn't even realize Auburn was at 3 losses.  Forgot about that loss to Clemson.  But still 2 of losses are to playoff teams and they beat one of those teams.  Not saying they should be in ahead anymore but that is a tough schedule.

How was Ohio State even considered in the top 4? I just didn't understand the argument there? They had 2 losses and one of them was a blow out loss to IOWA. As much as I don't want to see BAMA in the mix again, it would've been ridiculous seeing them being left out after only 1 loss on the road vs Auburn.

Agree with this and I do think committee is setting themselves up for teams to start playing easier schedules since Oklahoma loss affect Ohio St (along with Iowa).  I think everyone is forgetting the true team that got hosed in Auburn.  They beat Alabama and Georgia.  Not their fault they had to play Georgia again while Alabama got to sit home.

Landon Parker with a nice start to his season at EGF, 2-1-3 in 2 games. Was the Bantam Elite League MVP last year. MN Hockey hub has him as a 9th grader, is that correct? Netural Zone has him as a Jan 1st, 2002 DOB, is that correct? Those two don't really mesh, early '02 / late '01 would normally be a sophomore.

Looking at the college hockey landscape, a lot of 02's have been going off the board. Minnesota is now at 7, 02's or younger. Would like to see UND get Parker / Cole Shepard locked up in the '02 category.

Yes he is a freshman.  He has visited UND.

  17. Due to our location it will be tough to ever not get placed against Minnesota in first round. You'd think the NCAA would at least try and avoid consistent repeats of first round games.
