  1. They played in the BCHL
  2. Is the game being broadcast on Fox College Sports?
  3. I presume the game is on Fox College Sports...
  4. Rodwell was not a passenger last night...what's with the love affair with Mitch and Brendan- neither are doing anything
  5. If me: Knight with Kristo and Rocco Mark Mac with Parks and Gleason Rowney with St Clair and Cagguila Pattyn with Rodwell and Gaarder Simpson and Mattson Mac and Panza Forbert and Schmaltz Zano Unleash the fury, and we've got an extra dman dressed if need be.
  6. To be clear, I am pleased with Simpson's play this year and believe he is much improved. I am talking ideal state. In an ideal state, Simpson would be paired with a top end offensive dman- think Travis Roche or Keith Ballard or even Chay.p, and they'd be the top pairing. Mac would be paired with another shutdown man like a Matt Greene or Matt Jones Forbert and Schmaltz could be the third pairing.
  7. Good knee or good skater or not, they attacked with numbers and speed off a turnover with us attacking
  8. That's exactly what went through my mind last night...I was going: go, go- then dump, no, sh$t, oh sh#t
  9. Simmer will play...agree that unless it is structural he will be in the lineup. That's why they invented cortisone shots...
  10. That rush was a direct result of an all out offensive push that got turned the other way with speed. Often times the best breakout is an opponent's shot and rush.
  11. Not the main problem, but a problem in terms of poor outlet passes and starting the breakout. We are way too easily pinned deep, and we succumb to the forecheck too easily. Agree that our problem last night was a failure to score goals, not giving up two. Good offense starts with the d...
  12. We have one shutdown guy in Mac We have two decent all around guys in Simpson and Forbert We have two weak offensive dmen in Gleason and Mattson We have a rookie who currently is best described as a weak offensive dman in Schmaltz We have a body mover who is a 6th dman at best in Panzo We don't have the right parts...
  13. Looking forward to seeing you and the crew.
  14. I've always believed you need both... Ideally your 3 pairs are: 1. A skilled offensive defenseman with a decent all around dman 2. A shutdown pairing 3. One puck mover and one body mover
  15. Good D is about gap management, clearing out the front of the net, solid boards play, and making excellent outlet passes. You hold your own blue line against attacking forwards, and you hold the offensive zone from the point.
  16. Keys to success this time of year: A. Prevent the other team from scoring. You accomplish this in a few ways: 1. Limit mistakes in your own end and in the neutral zone- you do this with puck protection and good passes 2. Do not give up odd-man rushes- everyone must be heads up and providing support to each other, positional play, communicate 3. Goaltending has to play sharp, top of the crease hockey 4. Physically punish opposing forwards that enter high probability scoring areas 5. Close passing lanes with active sticks and good positional play 6. Its okay to take physical penalties, unacceptable to take lazy penalties 7. Win the time on attack battle through a strong forecheck and good passing as well as smart point play B. Score goals 1. Attack the offensive blue line with speed and numbers- you do this by moving your feet and making crisp passes on the tape 2. Shoot the puck- very few goals are scored from perimeter passes 3. Win the loose puck battles- this is 100% about effort and compete 4. Have to be able to beat an opponent 1x1 in order to create time and space 5. Establish a net front presence- its where they separate the men from the boys 6. Convert on the powerplay and on high probability scoring chances- you have to execute 7. Play loose and have fun- tight hockey has no rhythm and uptight guys don't score (pun intended)
  17. The danger of one angle alone- in slow mo that clearly popped off the back iron on the top (outside) the net. No wonder no Tech players or coaches lost it.
  18. DROP THE PUCK... Guys should be playing for the seniors and each other tonight. They are in your house and embarrassing your family- do something about it.
  19. I have no beef with @jallen's post. Its legit. I also think the coddlers need to understand that this site isn't your casual bandwagon jumpers...most of us are on here frequently and invest ourselves in this hockey team. For me personally, it is my favorite past time. I invest so much energy into my career and my family- Sioux hockey is my release drug...especially when paired with, and to quote Katie Hale "some pops". The coaching staff- well Hak has had a lot of success, but I still question which legitimate big-time program coaching candidate wouldn't have had success with the players we've had in his tenure. I'm not saying he should be fired- I'm just saying we haven't exactly dominated, despite some of the best talent in the world...Two of his years we were the favorites by far and couldn't put it together. Then to Bubba...WTF! Our d looks awful...he's brought in to do special teams and d- now our pp was firing pretty well prior to the last two series, but our D is poor in our end, in the offensive end, in transition...Simpson has improved, but every other returning player has regressed. lines- you need chemistry- our coaching staff has failed to help the players build that much needed intangible. Compete- it appears that after Kristo and Grimaldi nobody cares- I think Mac does, but he gets penalized for playing his game. I'm not saying we can't get it together tonight and next week, but we are not firing on all cylinders right now.
  20. Is it just me or are Rocco and Danny the only two guys who seem to be able to beat someone 1x1? And your points are supposed to be your safety valves to maintain offensive pressure, I feel like when we kick it back to the point the pressure is done. Our transition game is also really suffering...no speed and numbers coming up through the neutral zone. Coaches gotta get the boys ready to play. Lose tomorrow, and the NCAAs are not a lock...
  21. Teams, especially in the playoffs, are going to do everything they can to shut down Corban and Danny. That is why you have to get secondary scoring. We did not, even though Rowney and Rocco had a couple chances. Michael Parks needs to get it going, and O'Donnell just flat out needs to do something... Perhaps more importantly our defense played poorly. I don't know what has happened to Forbert- he started the season playing well, and now he looks really bad. Schmaltz still looks like a freshman. Gleason got manhandled. Again, only Simpson and Mac look like SIoux defensemen. Passing was absolutely awful. Weak passes, telegraphed passes, passes to the backhand or in the skates. No cycle, no give and go. No flow out of the zone. Trouble with our entries. Game turned when we took a penalty to negate the 5 minute man advantage and then worse, gave up a 4x4 goal to start the second. Bottom line is you need to score more than 1 goal to win games. We came out sluggish, tech came out hard. We were not moving our feet or the puck withurgency...its got to be fast. Perfect but slow does not work.
  22. Its not over yet...c'mon boys
