  1. I'm saying his job would be in jeopardy, yes. We have not had a losing season since the "dark ages" of the 90's...I don't think it would be tolerated. Slightly better than .500 and missing the tourney twice in a row, same thing...the point I am really trying to make is that with all of the successes, a national championship would give him some more freedom/security to have a random bad showing. The other key variable would be who would be out there to take over...not sure...I would not fire him unless I thought we had an excellent successor. You don't fire to be punitive, you replace to improve.
  2. and no guns...sorry...probably doesn't belong on this thread
  3. Without a national championship, he can not have a losing season, nor can he miss the NCAAs twice...with a national championship he would be allowed a losing season and would be allowed to miss the NCAAs twice...all else being equal (his current track record of consistent winning percentage, conference titles, conference tourney titles) IMO
  4. Nick Bjugstad with 14 minutes of ice in the show tonight...
  5. Every player and coach wants to win every game they participate in. You compete to win...be it an early december match-up with Mankato or the National Championship game. First things first though, you gotta win enough games to get your shot at the NC, then you have to roll off a great tourney. Playing 4 complete games at the top of your ability. No excuses, but I definitely value consistent winning over just plucking out a random NC. Eye of the tiger...its the game not the result.
  6. speed always kills...you see Cloud trying to cycle and play the Western game, meanwhile QU just creates odd-man after odd-man. Then they also throw in that horse with the hyphenated name who just power moved a goal and a helper... I actually really enjoy watching the game the way these Eastern schools have been playing it...
  7. the care systems mentioned are all taxable non-profits, meaning they pay less in taxes, but they still pay taxes. References to charges are really quite irrelevant. ND providers deal with two essential monopolies on the payer side: BCBSND with 80% market share, and Medicare. Also, care systems don't lower the cost of care. The leverage of the large integrated delivery systems on commercial payments creates a disparity, where you'd be crazy not to sell your practice- cashflows for the same services at a higher level. private practice was dying well before the existence of Sanford as its current entity. healthcare is big business- don't mitigate the economic impact of those provider systems on the community...think about all of the federal dollars via Medicare that enter the community. Also, if you look at compensation structures, etc. Altru, Sanford, and Essentia are all quite reasonable based on their size. In fact, compared to other areas of the country and for-profit siblings, compensation is on the low end for executives, higher for doctors- in order to attract them, and pretty reasonable for other professional staff (nurses, pharmacists, etc)
  8. Bjugstad made a living on the pp. He had his "spot" a lot like Duncan, but Duncs was a writster from the dot, Bjugstad was usually a one-timer rocket from the bottom of the circle...
  9. I've always wanted to attend, but the hogger is a long way from south Minneapolis ( where I live)...
  10. Also, because I looked at watchmaker's links, the smart ads on this sight are now asking me to look at the Nordstrom's men's store for suits...
  11. Actually the vino-culture d'jour now says that red wine is acceptable as a pairing with fish...as long as its not merlot...
  12. Macy's actually has decent Hugo Boss suits (at least the Macy's at Southdale). Not that this is fashion week on SS.com. You never go wrong with classic...that means Brooks Brothers or Polo Blue Label...You can go big with a Polo purple label...
  13. Watchmaker was saying that not only is Kristo not going to make the show, but also wasn't going to even end up in the A...Most of us disagreed with that opinion. I'm on record stating that I think he will develop into a nice 15-25 per year goal scoring second line winger in the NHL. I also said that based on Mario's offensive numbers Kristo would score 120 points in the E... Production in the A will be built around how they want him to develop...in other words will he get PP time and will he get optimal offensive minutes with scorers for linemates. I believe that based on age (physical maturity- especially being in the UND weight room, etc for four years), clear offensive skill (paws), speed, and 2nd round draft status, that Danny is probably on the short list to be called up along with LeBlanc if they need a scorer up in Montreal.
  14. Yes, a little girl is on the way in June! Gotta keep producing Sioux fans! Target Center will still be fun...closer to my house too
  15. bummed i missed you at the Five this year! not the same...we didn't stick around after the boys got beaten
  16. Congrats and best luck in retirement! Perhaps with 40 years in, you might've even been my teacher somewhere along the line. Noble profession! I thank all of my teachers for setting me up to succeed in undergrad, business school, professional life, and personal life #fuller richer life thanks to teachers
  17. What's the formula though? I mean Nick Jensen is certainly not the 94th best (best d man in college hockey this year IMO), and Bjugstad is going to play in the NHL next week and he is on the second tier of the list. If you look at the rankings for NHLers, it would appear that the formula is somehow based upon goals/game, assists/game, plus-minus/game...if it is purely a statistical indicator, then that leaves a lot of pretty important hockey stuff out...
  18. Gwoz in Maine...hmmmm...
  19. Who do they have him skating with?
  20. Good for Derek...knew there was no way he was coming back...with his draft status, I'm sure he got a nice deal.

    Rocco

Have to...we're going to need our highly skilled freshies to come in and be impact players. My thought was originally about Rocco, and I liked the way he played with Drake. Then, based on Tambellini's purported skill and stats and likley draft position, I put him up there. From there it sorta lead off topic and into lines for next year. I love the idea of Parks-St. Clair- Chyzyk...I think that would be a tough line to play against and could also score some goals. who knows...
  22. Between the two of those guys thats about 45 years in the show isn't it...

  25. You've got many different kinds of practices, and many different focuses within each practice. No pucks usually meant bad news...conditioning and contact drills pucks generally mean breakouts, odd-mans, and special teams guys will work on individual skills outside of practice
