  1. Just seeing trails of light behind them
  2. Fair- I should say that I am not solving for the Euro need on the big body with Simo, its just part of my rationale for not putting Smith on the 2nd line. I don't think Simo should be relegated to 4th line. Edit to say: If between the 2nd and 3rd line the question is about adding a big body, I would say the need is greater on line 3. That said, while the Euros could use the big body more than the second line, keeping Simo in the top nine supercedes that need IMO.
  3. We won our last two games based on talent alone- we didn't win because we played a better game. That will not last given our upcoming schedule...as I said in another thread, we need to unf9%k our sh4t.
  4. Smith does not have the skill to play on the heavy line IMO. Gardner and Pogo are NHL draft picks. It is not about a big body line...its about a line that can play puck possession, keep the puck in the other team's end, and score. That's why I like Wilkie as the 3rd forward on that line, let him shoot. I see a lot of similarity between LJ and Wilkie...I'd put Wilkie on that line. If between the 2nd and 3rd line the question is about adding a big body, I would say the need is greater on line 3. Very simple we have: 1. First line will be intact 2. Second line we have Gardner and Pogo with great chemistry 3. Third line we have Hoff and JJ with great chemistry 4. Bowen and Yon appear to be the right combo That leaves: Wilkie- drafted, elite goal scorer in junior Simo- rock solid, good two way player, wears an "A" Olson- big boy with net front Smith- big boy with lots of physical tools Gornall- contributes when given the chance I'd put Wilkie on line 2, Simo on line 3, and have the remaining 3 duke it out (primarily with each other) but also with Bowen and Yon for the 4th line.
  5. I was just looking at our calendar...time to unf*&k our sh$7...start playing as a team. Stop making mistakes and being cute. The teams coming up: 1. BSU- Will be thinking David vs Goliath. They will be up for the series big time. 2. UMD- NCAA tourney team, will be up near the top of the NCHC and National standings 3. Gophers- Enough said 4. Denver- (see Duluth) 5. SCSU- down a bit, but tough NCHC team
  6. I was thinking along the same train- either the buzzing scandeheuvians or the big bodies of Rhett and Pogo, either way Wilkie gets some space to shoot. My thought on putting Wilkie with the heavies is that the Scandy's will buzz regardless who is on the other wing, and it Simo's overall responsible game might be a good thing to back those two "wild and crazy guys" up if they get too Euro
  7. who's suggesting that?
  8. Jost with Boeser and Gersich (top skilled line) Gardner with Wilkie and Pogo (Wilkie is the natural replacement for LJ- both are pure shooters- goal here isn't just size and LJ wasn't huge) Hoff with JJ and Simo (Euro connection worked- and Simo adds good responsibility and help in the faceoff dept if necessary) Bowen with Yon and Olsen/Smith (loving the energy) If we get a goal a game from each of the top 3 lines, we will win 30 games
  9. I'd add that Gersich really seems to have built off a solid freshman season and some good summer workouts. I've been thinking if we might want to put Simo on the new "heavy line" and make the third line a little bit more of a matchup problem in the skill department- I think the style might align Jost with Boeser and Gersich Gardner with Simo and Pogo Hoff with JJ and Wilkie Bowen with Yon and Olsen We'd really be 4 lines deep with this lineup...
  10. jewels made the Oilers!
  11. If he's really dinged up it likely cost him a roster spot- dang, he had earned one. Just too easy if he starts the year on IR to keep him in the AHL. good for Nick- he's gonna have to work to keep that bottom 6 role- not try to play a top 6 game from there
  12. bummer- he was so close...this is why draft position matters so much
  13. Is this the end of this continent for Porter?
  14. Pony sent to minors
  15. I saw one good, high energy shift from Johnson where he carried the puck, dumped it deep- chased it down, then finished his check
  16. Yes, I noticed this too. He just needs to relax and take what's given. I think Canisius got in his head.
  17. hockeydb.com doesn't have him playing last year...
  18. I'd imagine he's in business somewhere...he wasn't going to play pro. He's got a great work ethic and family connections
  19. OMG...I dont envy the Omaha boys's next practice...Blaiser will bag skate 'em like Herbie in Miracle
  20. Nchc now 8-3-2 with one game to finish
  21. Who's going to step up to center that second line? Gardner is a key player- tough to have him out- hopefully it's a one night deal
  22. NCHC 5-3-1 in non-conference to start...not terrible Duluth 2-0-1 UND 1-0 CC 0-1 Denver 0-1 Western 2-0 Miami 0-1
  23. Doesn't need to be an acronym- how about the beauty line
  24. 6:20 to go still 3-2
