Even better, a Twin Peaks! If any of you are planning on going to Omaha next weekend, be sure to hit, you won't regret it!

Yes, it really was bad last night. I recall the UND/Mankato game from several years ago when UND looked just as listless. Ill never forget Blais' quote where he said something to the affect of, "I knew it would be bad this afternoon when I saw the players sitting in the arena, watching a movie on the big screen." Point being, the guys should've been focused on the upcoming game, not watching movies.

I just walked out of the Alerus Center, at Sioux Boosters, and my takeaway from Coach Hakstol was this: our defensemen need to "play with more sandpaper...Gleason and MacWilliam already do but he wants to see guys like Mattson, Panzerella, Forbert, and Simpson play grittier-not dirty/but tougher in the D zone. Second, Hak was very proud of Zane's play the past few starts since XMas break and that he's worked himself back into a battle for the starting job. Three, he said 9 of our 12 forwards played well on Saturday against the Gophers but that the Rowney line missed several key assignments and they must do better. Last, he said he was proud of Grimaldi and thought the Minnesota series was his best of the season.

As much as I dis-like DU, one cannot ignore Murray Armstrong and his accomplishments at Denver. I thought it was a disgrace they didn't name their arena after him. Also, Gino Gasparini is another big time historical fixture of the old WCHA. What about his name for a post season award of some type?
-
All of this line shuffling talk concerns me. Do our opponents (not just Minnesota) experience this with their rosters on a weekly basis?

I remember going to a DU/Minnesota series about 7 years or so ago at Magness and seeing a Gopher player-laying on his back-kick a DU player so hard with his skate, he cut through the guy's jersey and chest protector and drew blood. I'm definitely no DU fan, trust me, but my point is, I can cherry pick as much as the next guy and find examples of bad on-ice behavior as Gopher fans can. -
It looked like Mitch was wide open on that two on one but can't fault Kristo for shooting either. I guess nobody knows why Mitch transferred to UND.
-
Can anyone answer why Mitch chose St. Cloud? And also, what his reasons were that he transferred to North Dakota?
-
Reading that we landed Grimaldi made my day but hearing that he chose UND over Denver REALLY made my day.

I had thought the Sioux were traveling to play at Miami of Ohio next season??? Was I wrong?

Sorry, I meant Nokota....Not, Nakota.
-
I too am warming up to the Nakotas nickname, or some variation of it (i.e., Fighting Nakotas, Wild Nakotas, etc.). Question, perhaps the beautiful feathers from the the Sioux indian head logo could be incorporated into the new horse imagery? Would that be deemed as hostile and offensive or would it be considered a subtle tribute? I kinda think it would be a nice touch. Please no Blizzard, Storm, Flickertails, Prairie Roses!!! As stated before, let's hope the powers-that-be will learn from the mistakes made by schools who went through this (namely, Marquette) and not make the same ones they did.
-
I just hope that during the transition, the University can learn from the mistakes made by other schools who went through this process, namely Marquette. I believe that since the mid-nineties when they changed their nickname and mascot, they have had an on-going identity crisis. I'm fearful that the PC crowd (anti-Sioux nickname crowd) will have a major voice in the decision on the new name and will come up with something very unoriginal (Tigers, Huskies, Storm, Blizzard, etc.). Let's hope that the powers-that-be, take enough time to thoughtfully retire the Sioux nickname as well as come up with a logical, reasoned search process for the new nickname and logo. Regardless, I'll still bleed green and white and cheer for the UND athletics team as I'm sure everyone else on this message board will.

Question: I was listening to Gwozdecky this morning on the pre-game show on The Fan and he indicated that Anthony Miani got hurt last night and is questionable for the rest of their season. Does anyone know what happened? They never really said what the injury was or how it happened.

I was at both games, last night, we sat right behind the CC bench. After Frattin's goal, he skated by Sweatt and patted him on his behind. Then, after high-fiving the Sioux players on the bench and skating towards Eidsness to high-five him, he patted another CC player on the back. After that, CC Coach Scott Owens was irate and jawing at the Refs. If anyone else saw this, can you confirm that the reason why Owens was so angry was because of Frattin's behavior or was it because of something else? -I thought it was kinda funny but made me nervous because I was afraid it might wake a sleeping giant and piss off CC to the point where they might rise to the occasion.

Beautiful two-on-one goal for Harvard vs. Minnesota. 1-1 late in the 2nd period.
-
Channel 403 (NHL Network) on Dish Network.
-
The CC/DU game is on Fox Rocky Mountain. 2-2 after the first period. Wierchosh left the game with a leg injury. Clean hit on him, he had his head down and received a hip check.

14-7 at halftime?
-
I could've sworn they said that the football game was going to be on FCS today.

Splitting hairs, it may as well be downtown as the traffic sucked. Plan on leaving early enough to allow for traffic. Also, if you get a chance, visit Northeastern's arena-it's claim to fame is that Matthews Arena is the oldest arena in the world. They just spent several million dollars refurbishing it with nice seats, a big video scoreboard, and new concessions. I got to see the Sioux play NU a few years back and it was a lot of fun! The NU student section is directly above the visiting goalie for 2 periods and they're funny! Lot's of funny cheers!

Beautiful arena (not as nice as the Ralph but one of the better arenas in college hockey). It's downtown so your best bet is to take the train down to BU as traffic down there is a nightmare-I went last year when BU played UMass Lowell. Great sightlines, well-lit, and the concourse has some really nice historical stuff on BU hockey and the numerous players that they have had in the Olympics over the years. They sell some cool BU stuff as well. I buy at least one team puck at every arena I visit for a game. I picked up a couple of really cool ones there last year.

Just finished watched the Texas Tech game. Taylor Potts left the game in the second quarter with a concussion. The backup QB came in and had a great game for Tech; he threw for 6 touch down passes.

I would ask that if you decide to email Gwozdecky, that you keep it clean and professional. We're more likely able to earn his respect if we keep our comments above board. I don't want him confirming Ms. Rizzo's mis-characterization of Sioux fans. Are there some bad apples among Sioux fans? Sure. But there are these types among DU fans as well. That doesn't mean we use a broad brush to characterize ALL DU fans as bad, nasty people.
-
I love the Rockies but I dread seeing Rizzo on the tv. She's totally useless as a commentator. They only have her on there to give the male viewers a nice show of her chest...(which is pretty darn nice I must admit).
