  1. Was at the game earlier and just have to say that Huff played excellent basketball. He was aggressive but under control (for the most part). His passing and rebounding are what made him exceptional this game, with several very nice passes and tough rebounds both offensively and defensively.

Overall we had periods in the game where the offense was humming along and we were tough defensively. CSU had some good athletes that were very capable of finishing inside and I thought we did an excellent job collapsing on them. There wasn't really a point in this game that I thought CSU had control over it, and aside from the ugly finish, UND was the better team the whole game.

  2. I'm really curious what Monique Weber did to warrant an ejection for fighting. I bet that was something to see!

She got a good swing or two in after the SCSU captain (I believe) started it. Was pretty fun to see.

  3. Has no problem with a seniority system for student tickets for hockey. There is limited supply, very high demand. It should be the people that have been at UND the longest that get first crack at the tickets. It's not like we're buying assigned seats or anything, people still have to show up early to get the best seats on gameday. Also they way they have it set up is that there are only so many tickets allotted to seniors/grad students, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen so it's not like only juniors/seniors are attending the games.

Complaining about this is stupid and the system works (aside from stupid ticketmaster issues).

  4. I agree it would be embarassing for NDSU to lose to UND. But NDSU has NOT had this game circled since the start of this year. It means more to the fans than the team. If you would give Philips the option of trading a win over UND with a win a week ago at Oral Roberts he would jump at the chance to make that trade. I do believe that UND may have had this game circled on their calendar since last years game.

This is a ridiculous statement. Why would UND have this circled and not NDSU? Why should UND not have been looking forward more to Kansas this year? A game against top competition, in front of a packed house, with a national audience. That sounds more exciting to a college age basketball player than does UND-NDSU. So your statement is ridiculous, the fans will ALWAYS put more emphasis on this game then the players until the rivalry is fully renewed and is played year in and year out to foster that sense of rivalry among the players. Sure players for either team might get caught up in some of the hysterics of the fans, but for the most part I believe this is just another game for them (albeit with added emphasis of the fans behind them).

  5. It was a fantastic experience and shows just what Grand Forks fans are capable. Reminded me of a couple games in the Alerus with as loud as it was. Hopefully it swayed a few and we get a repeat performance tomorrow.

  6. That was a great game and win for the ladies and got very nerve-wracking at the end. It was bad luck to lose Charney, hopefully she doesn't have too bad of a concussion, but after that UNI's #4 really took over, she was incredibly quick and really took over late in the game. I would also like to hear how many of UNI's points were scored off of layups. I can only recall a few shots they hit from outside, everything else seemed to be right at the basket.

  7. If we had some students show up the attendence would not be that bad. Its absolutely horrible the lack of students. I talked to a student a couple of games ago and this student did not even realize they were paying for sporting events in the tuition cost (less hockey of course). They think it is just free, wrong they are paying for it and not even attending. The only times I see student attendence is when they are giving away free tuition and pizza on one given game. How can we get students to attend?

You shouldn't have expected that many students at the game last night. There aren't a lot that show up to games during the actual semester, so to expect a large student crowd at the completion of finals week and the end of the semester is asking way too much. A lot of them were likely already home or heading home. I'm somewhat surprised at the size of the student crowd that WAS there. The scheduling has just been tough, Montana around Thanksgiving and then SDSU at the end of semester/Christmas.

  8. I wasn't able to go to the NC game that year but watched on TV and it really was quite exciting. Although I think my favorite game(s) of all time were the two leading up to that on. The quarter and semifinals against Pitt St. and UC-Davis in a packed Alerus. The Alerus was so loud those games that you couldn't hear the person yelling right next to you and our defense completely dominated both teams about as much as anyone could have ever hoped for. Pitt St. was supposed to have a great rushing team and we ended up holding them to negative rushing yards in probably one of the most impressive defensive games I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing the team that UND had that year.

  9. Crowd was anemic but that's about expected. When people are even offered free tickets and don't take them, can you expect much more?

It was an absolutely amazing game and I wasn't even sure I was seeing straight after the beating in Brookings. Really shows the capability of this UND team. Anderson was solid all game, Webb gave an early spark and finished strong, Mitchell was definitely player of the game and I didn't think he was ever going to miss at one point, Schuler, Archer, and Allard were solid off the bench, Huff I thought played well within the offense for the most part (aside from a few forces which got him taken out of the game) and he was definitely a great finisher on the fast break, and I thought that Wilmer was rock solid getting the start. He didn't provide much offense but he was strong on the boards and played pretty good defense. Overall I liked the defensive effort, the number of forced turnovers was nice, but we would have those occasional lapses and leave wide-open shooters. I never could figure out why we would ever rotate away from Wolters.

Hopefully we can see more performances like this the rest of the year.

  10. Need another strong half. They are looking good tonight and showing what they can do when playing as a team. Wolter definitely is a good player, don't like how he looks at the refs each time he gets touched though. Then again that just seems to be a basketball thing

  11. I never understood how the VIkings ever used him as more than a blocker. He was a kick @ss TE at UND I thought he would have been more of a receiver than a blocker.

If I'm not mistaken, he had some trouble with drops in his first year or two and so they switched him to primarily being a blocker which he excelled at.

  12. Was at the game and was pretty good game despite the low score. UNO's first goal was so flukey that it hurts. Just took a real odd bounce and ended up behind Dell, otherwise he was spectacular and easily the best player on the ice. UND had several good chances to score and simply couldn't find the back of the net.

The officiating, wow...I've come to expect bad officiating in the WCHA but that was pretty bad. UNO started head-hunting on Kristo and nothing was called. MacWilliams gets taken down in front of his own net and nothing called. They sure as hell swallowed their whistles and it was predominantly in UNO's favor.

It was a hard fought game and got pretty chippy at one point. Wouldn't doubt there is a fight tomorrow night.

One last thing, anyone else notice that Dickin got a lot of playing time in the 3rd period being put on the first line with Kristo/Nelson, as well as getting time shuffled on with MacMillian and O'Donnell?

  13. They say you can learn more from a loss than you can a win and I hope our coaches can find teaching points and make some changes. We have plenty of talent, there is just a lack of maturity that will come with time and some coaching.
