  1. I'm going to say that regardless of what the name is, the University should come up with a primary and a secondary logo. It would be smart for merchandising, and inevitably there will be people who don't like the initial logo, so having a secondary one would be smart anyway. Lots of school do this, and UND should as well.
  2. This. We have some nice players on this team, and will only be better next you with Baker playing too. Need to clean up the turnovers and start making the free throws though.
  3. Ok down by 10 to wisco, not embarassing. Bad turnovers and terrible free throw shooting, embarassing no matter who you are playing.
  4. yep, good to see that is still an issue
  5. Yep, not going to argue that. You usually won't get teams who are filled with jerks, or filled with pleasant people. Might see it more with football, only because their or more people on the team than other sports.
  6. Actually, I saw some of the same back when I was there. It wasn't all of the plays, but there was definitely a group of them that always though they were Gods gift. Kind of funny that a few D2 football players though they were such big shots, when the NHL draft picks on campus were always so friendly. I never got that kind of vibe from the hockey team. Again, I'm not going to say it is the football players in general, but there were definitely some real jerks in the bunch. I even had a buddy who had the same name (different spelling) as one of the lineman on the team. Cops start calling him about a domestic assault complaint against him from a party (at one of the football houses), didn't take long to figure out the different between a big white lineman and a little asian guy (Nice work GFPD ) Point is they aren't all good guys, nevertheless plenty of them are good, and deserve the support. Personality aside, its football, and I think with Bubba at the helm you'll start getting good people mixed in with talent. Definitely a fan of what he has been doing.
  7. Pretty sure it would still be based on the bid.
  8. Because you play to win the game? How about pride? How about confidence? How about to actually get a little national attention? If the single reason for scheduling Wisconsin is to get paid, then why even play starters tonight? Heck, why even bring the starters on the trip? I get they do not expect to win, but as a player, I can't imagine you go into the game without even trying to compete. A win might now mean much as far as getting into the NCAA tourney, but I guarantee it would mean something to the players.
  9. Given the type of offense they run, I see Ratelle and Reyes having huge games. Ratelle needs to be big on 3rd downs. I still say the field position battle is going to be critical in this game because Cal-Poly is not afraid to go for it on 4th down. So we need to keep them out of 4 down territory as much as possible, and at least keep 4th down opportunities to long yardage. It would also help to shutdown a 4th down attempt or two and maybe make them re-think going for it the rest of the game. I have a good feeling about this game. Unfortunately, I'm really nervous about what happens to us at 7-4. On paper we have a good win against Portland St and Wyoming, and we would be riding a 3 game win streak, but (as the spread for this game shows) we have no respect yet. It would be really helpful to have Montana, E Washington get knocked out, and if N. Arizona loses, then I believe we jump ahead of them. All we can control is winning, but it would be nice to get a little help too.
  10. I can't say I know enough about Nodak Nation or how it is run. I do like the Big Flag. I think that is pretty cool. Is that done at other events, or just hockey? If just hockey, it should be expanded. Again, I think this is the group that should work to develop more creative cheers. Doesn't have to all be super-clean, I think there is room for a little by of wiggle room for crude humor, as long as they know where the line is. But anything is better that most of the the cheers we have heard over the past 10+ years.
  11. I really do trust that Bubba will have these boys ready to play. Go Sioux!
  12. Hopefully Labat's game against UNC was just a warm up for what he will do this week.
  13. If we put Troy Huff in someone else's jersey for this game, will anyone notice?
  14. Its like F%&$ the Gophers. No imagination whatsoever. I yelled it when I was a student, and now realize just how embarrassing it is that you can actually hear it on TV. Pretty classless. I'm not saying student and chants needs to be saintly, a little crude humor is fine, but could we please get a little more creative. Isn't that was Sioux Crew/Nodak Nation is supposed to be doing. Come up with something new, and get the student section to follow.
  15. Exactly, that has been the case going back to the Wyoming game. If you don't remember it, look back at those highlights. He had the one short TD, where immediately after taking the hand off, he just made a slight side step enough to make the defense completely whiff. Then walked in untouched. The kid's vision is something you just can't teach. Glad he is on our team.
  16. Agreed, I think he is built more for WR. Regardless, they just need to make sure he is getting on the field with that speed. Hope Santiago is ready to put up a career game on Saturday. Anything less than 300 yards and 4 TDs for Santiago is simply unacceptable
  17. On paper, very good. Passing game should only get better, with Dulin, a health Clive, and Toivenen (If the pull the redshirt), maybe Iwarri to WR. Keaton will have another year under his belt. Defense will only improve, especially in the secondary, and we should get Arnell back. Running game, we know how good that should be. We'll need to be good. We start the season with a much tougher opponent that Wyoming. Bowling Green has had a tremendous year. They will lose their Sr QB, but have Jr right behind him that played most of last season. I believe they also lose some SR receivers and running backs. But if I have learned anything in watching UND this year, it is that I can believe in the team to compete. Go Sioux!
  18. I expect UND to give up more yards than normal, but I still think our defense will be able to limit them. Field position is going to be huge in this game, as Cal-Poly is not afraid to go for it on 4th. Fortunately, we have a punter who is capable of switching the field position quickly.
  19. Really good to see Iwarri Smith have a nice game. We'll likely need him quite a bit going forward. I think his biggest issue early in the season was confidence. I hope to see him at WR next year, but he still has plenty of time to make a big running impact this year. Same for Norberg, it was nice to see him pound the rock, and he will likely play more of an Oliveira type role.
  20. Seriously, what is the story on that guy. I understand supporting your team; but he seems more anti-UND than pro-bison. I've heard some sketchy stuff about him too on different forums. Seems like Wyonation and the Montana forums are pretty sick of him too. Pre-UND games he'll go tell them how soft UND is, then he'll tell them how bad they must be after UND beats them. It doesn't make a lot of sense.
  21. Personally, I wouldn't be able to make it up to GF for a game anyway, but I would love to see them host. Especially the way we have been playing at home. This has been the most fun I've had watching UND football since I was at UND around 10 years ago. Honestly, I'm about as pumped to watch football this Saturday (with playoff hopes), as I am with the hockey team heading into the Frozen Four. Really hope this kind of excitement is contagious among other fans. Especially those who live in the GF region. Need to fill those seats up.
  22. I believe we are @ Michigan St. on Friday and Sunday of that weekend. any chances BTN picks up one or both of these games? Would be nice to have some TV options.
  23. Are the bids made public? Otherwise we won't really know if his bid was reasonable or not.
  24. Here are some statistical rankings between UND and Cal-Poly (Not sure if the Big Sky website was already updated from this past weekend or not, but you get the idea). Ultimately, we have the Top Rushing Offense (Cal-Poly) against the Top Rushing Defense (UND). On the flip side, we also have an excellent run game, and Cal-Poly is middle of the pack for Run D. Neither team has much of a passing game (worst two in the big sky), though UND seems to have been a little more effective with the pass over the past two games. Maybe there will be a few opportunities for a deep ball to Clive this week. UND should definitely win the special teams battle this weekend, especially since we just played the best return team in the Big Sky, and we are now moving on to the worst. Ultimately, I think this should be played a lot like our game against Wyoming. Wyoming was supposed to be a heavy run team, with two star RBs. UND was able to completely eliminate them (granted it will be different defending the triple option). This will probably be a quicker game, with so much running, but UND really needs to focus on ball security. They have done a nice job with that since the bye, and it needs to continue now. Win and in? There is no guarantee, but I think we will be in good position. I think we are ahead of N. Arizona (if they lose). Hoping Portland St keeps rolling and knocks E Washington out. Wildcard game will be Mt State hosting Montana, Go Cats! Scoring Offense: UND (9th) – Though UND has had a huge uptick in the last two weeks Cal-Poly (6th) Scoring Defense: UND (4th) Cal-Poly (12th) Total Defense UND (3rd) Cal-Poly (9th) Rushing Offense UND (3rd) Cal Poly (1st) Rushing Defense UND (1st) Cal-Poly (6th) Pass Offense UND (12th) Cal-Poly (13th) Pass Defense UND (11th) Cal-Poly (12th) Kickoff Returns North Dakota (4th) Cal-Poly (13th) Punt Return North Dakota (7th) Cal-Poly (13th)
  25. I think I just threw up a bit
