I doubt it. UIUC will have their appeal approved within a week. The school is too big to have its appeal be rejected. PCM: Arguments are only valid if they are listened to. UND could and probably did use a similar argument in their appeal, but it didn't matter because they didn't read it anyways. IMO- they got to reject one appeal and that's really all they need to legitimize their stance. They probably will approve all of the remaining appeals that will be filed.

UND makes the paper only when something big happens, like the nickname or something negative or we win a national championship. Case in point: UND's win in hockey last night was about a short paragraph in length. Pheasant hunting in South Dakota takes up a column on the front page. I could give a **** about SD pheasant hunting. North Dakota comes first, then everywhere else when it comes to sports. But, then again, local news is more important than what is happening in the world so, I shouldn't be surprised. The Fargo Forum: Doing their best to hold Fargo Metro area residents behind the times since as long as I can remember.

Thanks, though I hardly think I'm any good because I mostly speak out of passion and bias and not out of well-backed up stance like PCM and mikejm have been doing. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I think I'm right, and most of the time I'm wrong. And mikejm- ZPar plays forward for the Devils, not goal for the Sioux

The NCAA doesn't look at OCR stuff and all that jazz. They only care about what the tribes think. The NCAA PR guy said as much on the Scott Hennan show. I doubt they even read our appeal. They only looked at the Tribes statements and made their decision based upon that.

Congrats to Dave and Erinn! 8lbs 1 oz. is a good sized baby! I know it was fun to watch Scott Sandelin's kid grow up in Grand Forks and return to Grand FOrks when he went to Duluth. I know watching Avery Grace grow up will be a wonderful thing for the Sioux hockey community.

I can't read the front of that jersey. The closest I could figure out would be Try City Storm or the Sioux Falls Stampede. If it is Sioux Falls, then the player who's holding Vandie is Nate Prosser, a defenseman who is heading to CC next year. If it is Tri City, then it is Jordan Willert holding him. But, it could be another team or it could be a picture from last season, in which case, it might not be either of those two listed above.

here's the thing, beehlresweird0, High School Hockey Thread If the Moderator could move this to the Community pages, if not to the High School Hockey thread, that'd be great!

Just make sure that, when MIni You is on the jumbotron she puts down the coke and smiles to the camera?

I did forget about him. But that's just regional. Let's not forget all those students nationwide over the past few years who were killed or nearly killed by similar acts. I agree Sic. OldSchool- I have gotten older I guess. I just see alcohol as a crutch. It's getting to be abused more and more. An occasional beer or whatever is one thing. Going out just to get drunk is another. I just don't see why so many students these days see Friday nights and Saturday as days one rarely remember due to the parties or whatever. Or why it's so damn cool to tie one on when you are underage. Or why its cool to be of age giving the underage kids drinks. Responsibility is something that a lot of people seem to lack. Those same people don't seem to understand that that is primarily the reason why the drinking age is higher than the age one can enlist in the military, why 16-25 year old males pay more for car insurance than ANY OTHER age group or gender, and a slew of other things as well.

Not all that surprising. Forney has other priorities and he wasn't going to suit up until after the TRF Hockey season anyways. When it gets closer, he'll get picked up.

Thanks for the recap. Kaip as the best player? I knew he had the potential to become our best checking forward. It looks like he's doing his job very very well.

Why would the Bison media support UND? Why does everyone here seem to think the Forum SHOULD be supportive of UND? They have NEVER been supportive of UND as far as I can tell. Why should they? This name fiasco gives the Forum a way to be edgy, spur on this filth and lies and boost readership because people seem to like to read about and watch dirt throwing contests (Uh...reality TV anyone?). I doubt they'd be this callous if it were NDSU's name being attacked. I hope no one posts another Fargo Forum news clipping here. We know their position already. There's nothing they can print that will change their stance.

Though there is nothing wrong with people kicking back and having a good time, I find it sadly amusing that, in order for people to get together and "kick back and have a good time" massive amounts of alcohol must be consumed. If that wasn't the case, then why can't you have Springfest every weekend? There's nothing stoping the student populace from gathering in a location and just hanging out together without alcohol. But, alas, that doesn't provide the "good time" part of it. I liked Springfest before its name changed to Drunkfest. There's more to life then what's found in a bottle.

I didn't forget Baron And Zombo and Smith had less than 900 NHL games. We have a number over 500 though...
-
No doubt.

Adding some more: Murray Baron 988 and counting. (two forwards, Tony Hrkac and Troy Murray are DQ'd for being forwards and Belfour DQ'd because he's a Goalie) I can understand the comparison with Reed and these guys offensively. As you know Patrick was pretty good defensively and last time I checked, Ludwig and Baron were/are defensive defensemen.

Yeah and Kupchella knows it too. I think he stated that he doesn't expect anything to come of this appeal, but rather the next appeal down the line will have newer data and, I guess, be a whole new appeal. So, yeah, this second appeal is just going through the motions to get to the third appeal. No one expects the exec committee to reverse their own ruling.

And since he has his BIA card on him at all times, he can prove it!

No offense to Gryba and no disrespect to the scouts that have watched him, but I want to see what he does in the USHL before I get all excited about him.
