  1. Wouldn't that be a trick! But, nevertheless, I will support the Sioux and be Lee's, Finley's, Grieco's, Kaip's, Kozek's, Hakstol's, Lamoreaux's, and whomever else's fan regardless of what happens.
  2. Shepherd was awful this weekend but this actually wasn't a bad call as far as the decision was made. What he failed to notice is that the puck was never covered up. The MTU player never covered the puck. He swatted it like a hand pass between his legs and, when the whistle was blown wasn't actually coverred at all. It was sitting between his skates just outside of the crease bouncing from one skate to the other. Shepherd added time to the game, for reasons I don't understand, and then simply reviewed the play out of courtesy to the rulebook (something he neglected to do after MTU's 2nd goal on Friday).
  3. Uh... Were you watching the game? I'm not sure you were because none of the goals occurred the way you saw it. First MTU goal: MTU shoots from the point after TJ Oshie loses the faceoff. It is a logo killer and drops harmlessly between Grieco's knees. He blocks the puck off with his stick and flinches a moment with his glove hand. Gagne slaps Grieco's stick and his stick hits the puck into the net. This should have been a save. It was a weak goal, true, but this wasn't the goal that cost us the game. It only tied the score. I've seen far weaker goals. Second MTU goal: 3 on 2 MTU. Genoway (I think) gets turned around and dives to make a play on the puck. He actually could have made the play, but instead he whiffs. Which leaves it to be basically a 3 on 1 with Jones the only defenseman back. Jones dives and MIGHT have gotten a piece of it. It ends up behind the onrushing MTU player. The MTU player however taps the puck across the front of the net, outside of Grieco's reach, where Kerr redirects the puck into the net with his skate (and NO, it wasn't a kicking motion). THERE WAS NOTHING ANY GOALTENDER COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS GOAL. Now, which game were you watching?
  4. Do you really want him back? Somehow, he was barely more effective last season than Wheeler!
  5. This post (though seriously is spot on) is entirely hogwash! You can't embrace the positive in a bleak situation! Like "proudsioux" states, how can you act with "class" when we are losing to teams like MTU and UAA? I mean, MTU has won National Championships in the past, but that don't mean anything. Teams can have cinderella seasons, but that doesn't matter either. What matters the most is that Finley, Phil, Lee, and Hakstol (by extension) suck. And there's nothing you can do or say to make that any different. Seriously, good point. My feelings all along. We can't average 2 goals a game and expect to win many games. I don't care who we are playing.
  6. I'm glad you can see the humor. I have trouble with my blood pressure when I see that stuff. I'm just as frustrated as anyone here. I just wonder if there isn't even the slightest glimmer of hope for this season? We have a huge sophomore class that is going through an equally huge sophomore slump (ok, except for Duncan and Chorney). We're no longer ranked (nor should we be) and we're deep out of the playoff picture. It looks bleak. I'll still hold out hope, but 2001-2002 was a terrible year for me to endure as a fan... I don't want to go through that again.
  7. FIRST off, iramurphy made a great point. SECONDLY, I have a conspiracy proposition to post to you. Grieco is young, and he also watched what happened to Tormey. Now, I understand the two situations were entirely different, but it is easier for us to distinguish that than he is when he is staring down a player crashing the net. MTU crashed the net all weekend long and I wonder if Grieco might have flinched for a split second (double checked the stick blade was down) before putting his glove hand in the path of the MTU player's skates? I thought of this because there's no way I could stare down a chargine player from the other team without getting a bit scared, especially while being on my hands and knees with a thin piece of wood or composite standing between me and a severred tendon.
  8. Nah. It's much easier to fly around screaming that the sky is falling and the only way to save it is to throw players under the bus in a sacrifice to the "hockey gods" and to fire the coach. Why stay positive when it is easier to point out the negative?
  9. brian- Don't lower yourself to neo's level. He's already one of the four or so calling for Hakstol's firing. What it comes down to is simply they want Blais back or they are just sour that their candidate that they backed didn't get the job. So they cling to throwing players under the bus and calling out the coach for every bad thing that happens. They have every right to be dissatisfied with this team. I am just happy though that there are posters here that don't have their heads up their backside that see that the game is cyclical and we'll bounce back. If not this year, next year.
  10. How original. Maybe you should watch the game more and figure out what was going on before you arbitrarily blame a player. But hey, when we're averaging 3 goals given up per game, do explain how throwing Finley under the bus is going to raise the average of goals per game we are scoring. Keep trying though.
  11. It is looking a lot like 2001-2002. But I will still support the Sioux. We are losing as a team and it's just painful.
  12. Aw crap! I'm getting thrown under THETRIOUXPER's Winnebago!
  13. I don't know if we can make up the ground now. We've not played this poorly as a team since the 2001-2002 season.
  14. Sioux swept 3-2
  15. Yup. It's amazing how many goals are scored by passing... If you said 0 goals, you are absolutely right. Passes might set up goals but you never know UNLESS YOU SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK!
  16. No, because Bariball was only brought in early because Kessel left, so Bariball wouldn't have been with the Gophers this year if Kessel had stayed.
  17. Maybe. But If you watch the overhead replay, the player (Gwilliam, not Kerr), swept the puck underneath his body and was never covered. He blew the whistle too soon. The puck was clearly sitting between Gwilliam's legs outside of the crease when the whistle blew. Look, we lost because we spent too much time on the perimeter trying to set up a shot. We needed to rush the net and we didn't. It's that simple.
  18. We pass WAY too much. WAY too much. MTU just shoots and skates in for the rebound. This team just doesn't have it offensively. Doesn't have it at all.
  19. Good series boys. Let's go back to the drawing board and work on: SHOOOT SHOOOOOOT SHOOOOOOOOOOOOT
  20. 1.4 seconds on the clock. Let's just drop the puck and end this series.
  21. MTU sweep. We didn't shoot the puck.
  22. We're not shooting the puck.
  23. We're shooting it where the goaltender is instead of where he isn't.
  24. Whew. That was close.
  25. UND penalty. Folks, we're playing to lose right now.
