  1. Bah. The answer is obvious! Have the men get hair extensions, require them to be clean shaven (including their legs), and wear padded sports bras under their jerseys. Give them voice lessons in how to raise their voices a little bit and give them fake names during practice. Problem solved.
  2. JJ gets a goal
  3. Tied. WOW
  4. I like Okposo. Yeah he couldn't finish there, but I like Okposo.
  5. Sweden playing the body awfully well.
  6. EJ takes a 10 minute misconduct. Sweden apparently gets away with a penalty. Hard to say how truthful that is though.
  7. Maybe, but Hirsch's recent history kinda throws a wrench in this theory. How he was in the lockerroom is unknown. He is struggling from mental illness (of some sort or another) which could very well be part of what the foundation of the "problem" is. Some are able to cope and handle the problem in a short amount of time. Others need a varying degree of more time. Maybe Hirsch hasn't yet come to grips with and set up adequate coping mechanisms to handle his issues and Lucia thought it was best for Hirsch and the team to part company. I think menal illness is the culprit here whether directly the cause or indirectly. I DOUBT Hirsch would choose to be as useless on the ice as he was apparently on Friday if he wasn't encumbered by the illness.
  8. Where can I find the broadcast?
  9. Same. I had a feeling that he came back too soon, but I'm not sure he had much of a choice if he was going to try to make a comeback in a Gopher jersey. He was doing very well for quite some time and then just faded. It's too bad.
  10. Well, I missed the game. Came in when TH was announcing tonight's three stars It's good to see: 1. Two wins for the Sioux this weekend. 2. The Sioux defense play well. Finley did a good job this weekend. Foyt really played well (however, I heard he was playing injured. If that's the case we are REALLY in trouble if he gets "all the way injured" and cannot play. We're DESPERATELY thin on D right now) 3. Dartmouth AD gets stuck with her team losing two games getting outscored 7-1 (NICE JOB BU!). Yeah, not classy to say that, but she deserves it. And if the Dartmouth AD isn't a "she" I don't care. 4. We scored 8 goals on the weekend (Yeah, Empty Netters count, dangit!) and I'm happy to see the offense. 5. Players like Martens, Vandevelde, and Foyt playing well. Couple of questions: 1. On Friday, TH said that the Sioux were "keeping it simple" on D. Do you think this can be attributed to why we did well this weekend and, conversely, one of the reasons why we struggled as of late before the break? 2. Did the Sioux get presented with a trophy of some sort and, if so, did they do anything with it? I thought it would be cool to graciously accept the trophy, pose for a picture (if necessary), and then put it at center ice and skate off to the locker rooms.
  11. I know this is buried back in the history of this thread, but I'll step up for sagard on this one. Look, his post (the one about him stickhandling in a phonebooth) was very good and, really, poking at Hirsch is rather low. We don't like it when Gopher fans come on here and talk about Bina's tragedy as being warranted like State of Hockey seems to feel. I think this is a worthy thread to have even though it isn't Sioux related, but only if it is done respectfully. And, sorry to say, some of us aren't being respectful. Calling out sagard on this matter is simply calling out the wrong Gopher fan. He's NEVER EVER been disrespectful to the Sioux, this site, or any of its posters without such posters REALLY poking at him. I think we need to show more class here, folks.
  12. I thought Curry wasn't seriously injured? You were only missing Schaeffer and Yip? Guess I was wrong. I think BU has more weapons than SLU and, overall in a conceited way, I think the overall quality of Hockey East is superior to that of the ECACHL and I think it would be a better game. Well, anyhow, GO BU, BEAT THE BIG GREEN EDIT: Hey, do you think Bunning should issue an apology for creating a hostile and abusive message by not allowing the Big Green to win?
  13. I'm really not sure what is worse: This style or the WCHA style "Let them go until someone gets injured or it affects the game too much that the big schools complain about it too much." I guess I like East Coast style as long as they are consistent. I'm tired of interference only being called in certain situations like it is in the WCHA.
  14. I don't know. Porter plays like that as well, just not as dynamic as Oshie. Porter was consistantly trying to generate offense and, though he only got an assist out of his effort, he really did a quality job at attempting it. I guess I just really liked Porter's play tonight. Actually, I think everyone played pretty well tonight. Finley even hit people. Genoway was all over the ice. The Vandevelde line played well and got quality time. Radke (when he wasn't serving penalties) did a great job blocking shots and penalty killing. Oshie had a great game. Lamoureux had a good game as well (even though I didn't give him a star!). And we only got outscored 1-0 in the second period! But at least we scored first and didn't allow them to score right away afterwards. Let's go for the win tommorrow! I like our chances a lot more against St. Lawrence than I would vs. BU. Seriously, how crappy was that. BU must have felt like Maine did after Stafford scored in OT at the Alfond Arena.
  15. I don't think our PP would be as bad (as of late) if we just shot more. I don't think it's that bad otherwise. Cycling is important, sure, but no one has ever scored a goal on a pass. You have to shoot the puck (or at least throw the puck at the net) in order to score. If I were an opposing coach, If I could make it so that all the Sioux could do was pass the puck around the perimeter and not make any shots on goal, it doesn't matter whether or not you spend 1 second in your defensive zone or the full penalty time. The score won't change.
  16. I'm not calling for him to be benched though. I think he had a good game, but not "Star" worthy. No, I did not hear the first period. OK OK! I'll revise my three stars 1st Star- TJ Oshie 2nd Star- Chris Porter 3rd Star- Robbie Bina Who cares, really. We WON!
  17. My Players of the game: Three stars: 1st Star - Chris Porter 2nd Star - Robbie Bina 3rd Star - Chay Genoway Justification: Couldn't give a star to Phil for two reasons: 1. Didn't face that many shots 2. This is petty, but I don't feel that any goaltender that gives up a shortie (despite this being a team issue) should get an award. I put Chay Genoway in the 3rd Star position because he was all over the ice. Radke would have gotten the star had he been better at staying out of the box. Arguments could be made for Oshie, the Vandevelde line, Kaip, and Kozek as well. EDIT: I gave the 1st Star to Porter because he was leading the way all night in terms of shooting the puck, trying to generate offense. Bina was instrumental as well. Really, Bina and Porter could be flip flopped and it would be easy to agree with as well. Opposing Player of the Game: I think I'll either give it to David Jones or Grant Lewis. Lewis was all over the ice and did a decent job covering Oshie. Jones was opportunistic and scored Dartmouth's only goal. Garbage Player of the Game (player that, had he not played the game would have been safer): Tanner Glass, Dartmouth. I mean, only contributing by slashing and interfering with the goaltender. This was an easy award to give. We're off to face St. Lawrence (WOW. There goes my predictions)
  18. DUncan ices the cake! 4-1
  19. Vandevelde, Forney, and Zajac are getting a lot of ice time. I'm loving that. They really need it.
  20. Correction: It's the old Hooking with a Diving offset.
  21. DOn't worry. UND got penalized again. We have a dozen penalties now.
  22. That's truly hostile and abusive!
  23. KOZEK!!! 3-1
  24. Watkins goes for interference. Well, can we play a little longer without a penalty? 11th penalty of the game. WOW.
  25. 2-1 BINA!!!! Folks, Bina has been the only consistent shooter other than Porter the past two periods thus far.
