Count em, 5 CC Tiger seniors to the Portal.  With what Mayotte is building it makes sense that those guys wouldn't be brought back.

    What sayeth @Godsmack?

They have all played 4 years of College. I think guys enter the portal to keep options open if they want to possibly play the extra Covid year. I heard it might be tough for them to stay at CC as well due to their(school, not the players) academics as they don't have many grad school programs.

Looked like he missed, but the last one he got just a piece of the facemask.

Yeah. Leonard went a little Matrix on him to avoid the brunt. The intent was definitely there though.

People get crucified on this board for saying parity is a factor, but ignoring it, especially in a game that is often a one-bounce game, is just wild to me. I think many fans don't have reasonable expectations anymore, frankly. The overreactions are absolutely obnoxious and drips with entitlement. A large amount of our fanbase sees every loss we have as "the boys aren't trying hard enough" or "they aren't real Sioux" or "the boys don't care enough" or "Bubs can't get them up for a big game", and that's what bothers me. We seem to have this expectation (not all of us, but some -- still the minority, but a loud and vocal one) that we should win every game just because we're North Dakota and that's how it works. College hockey is just different now than it used to be. Added parity with how the game of hockey works, we now have a game that is anyone's game each night.

More often than not, the best team wins. I'm hoping we're the best team tonight. And if we aren't, it's not due to a magic potion whispered from Bubs, it's because the other team played better and finished their chances.

At the risk of repeating myself. :D Just kidding don't care.

A large portion of our fanbase believes that other colleges and universities only field hockey teams so that we will have someone to play against.

Maybe, but he was far too often the scapegoat. I always liked his game, but he was inconsistent. When he was good, he was really good. When he struggled, he really struggled. As you know, defense is not only the defensemen. It requires the forwards to also defend and cover their guys and also requires goaltending.

I said this a few times last year. The biggest problem we had on defense in the early season last year was our forward group.

Yes, play for a little pride.  I can remember playing Minnesota in a 3rd place Final Five game (2005) and the boys absolutely wanted the W.  I mean you’re playing the Gofers, who wouldn’t want to stomp them?  In the Star Trib they quoted a Gofer player(s), said it was hard to get up for a third place game; they had already clinched their spot in the NCAA's.  Sioux win 4-2; Spirko leaves Harrington of Minny standing still as he goes around him to score.
Now fast forward a few weeks and who do we meet in the Frozen Four?  Same Gofers, this time there's a lot more on the line.  Now Minny gonna flip the switch?  Sorry Gofers, you lose again.

I call that the tap out game. UND would dump the puck into a corner and hammer the Gopher D and take the puck over and over and as the game went on UND would dump the puck in the corner and then go get it as the Gopher D tapped out and offered zero resitance and quit even trying to possess the puck.

I thought it was already sold out

If I remember correctly, each school is allotted 250 or 500 tickets. UND will sell their through the Champions Club. I would guess the other 3 schools will probably not sell their complete allotment and either turn their tickets back in or if they have good relations with the other teams can give(sell) them to another school.

The tickets not in this allotment look to have already been sold but I would check the site again this week because if the tickets are turned back in by the schools they will be available to purchase.

I would also check with the other 3 schools and see how they are selling their tickets....especially if the demand is not there for them to sell through them. You may be able to purchase them directly from those schools....I have done this in the past.

    Here's my stab:

    Providence: 1) BC vs 15) RIT, 8) Wisc vs 9) Q

Sioux Falls: 2) BU vs 16) MTU, 7) Minn vs 11) Omaha

Springfield: 3) Denver vs 14) Mass, 5) Maine vs 12) Cornell

Maryland Heights: 4) Mich St vs 13) W Mich, 6) UND vs 10) Mich

I kept schools as close to a regional as is allowed.

I guess it comes down to keeping #2 against #15 vs. keeping the higher seeded "western" team in the west...I flipped Denver and Sparty and R.I.T. and  WMU

An Eastern blowhard that thinks that regionals should forever stay neutral, as it benefits eastern schools most.

    You forgot insufferable.

  12. Here is how it should shake out.

    Providence

    BC vs. Michigan Tech

    Bucky vs. Quinnipiac

    Maryland Heights

    Boston U. vs. Western Michigan

    UND vs. Michigan

    Sioux Falls

    Denver vs. R.I.T.

    Minnesota vs. UNO

    Springfield

    Sparty vs. U Mass

    Maine vs. Cornell

  13. In the 16 possible outcomes for the 4 remaining games tonight, a Denver win would get UMass into the tournament and likely send UND to Springfield. An Omaha win will get CC in the tournament and likely send us to Missouri except possibly if AIC, BC, and Michigan all win as well...then it is a tie to the first 4 numbers after the decimal point which I didn't find but from what I read that would favor UMass

who is criticizing?  this is a message board...you ask questions and you comment on things.

my take on  this is the NIL is going to hurt schools in "small/er" markets.  when I heard this announcement I assumed it would be the rydell, Simonson, gershmanns, magnussons and browns.

instead we got boner and holth.  not sure exactly how wealthy these two young men are but it ain't like wes and whatnot.

we need now over 300k to keep a nice small forward on the men's side....can those two even do enough to come close to keeping bj around.  nope

then you have hockey which is in real trouble....used to be "come play for the bad bad fighting Sioux (before or after REA1.0) and they would say "hell yeah"....now its "hey snuggerud you wanna play for the big bad fighting hawks"....yeah but it'll cost ya 1million per year..."hold the line"..."hey John and Matt snuggerud needs 1million"....

that's a lot of cheesy pickles and long island ice teas

I don't think you understand how this works. You have two guys who obviously have a passion and are dedicated to giving this a go. They will try and approach the money guys for donations. The money guys will then make a decision

    1. Keep donating through the channels they have been doing.

    2. Split up the money they have been donating to additional entities

    3. Keep donating through the channels they have been and contribute additional money to the "new" entities

    #3 is the goal
