  1. Them being on the US national team probably helps, but you could be right.
  2. Maybe during his draft year and for a couple weeks while he's battling for a starting job and then never again when he's a career back up
  3. It's Christmas break for hockey. Not sure what else you woulda thought was going on here haha.
  4. Think they know who Jonathon Toews, Zach Parise and T.J. Oshie are? Just sayin *pokes Bison(z)*
  5. Hahahahahahahaha. Oh, wait. You're serious? Oh. Well, that's cute. Are you talking about just for you? If so, alright. But it'd be a much bigger deal to GF for the hockey team to win one, IMO. I love the football team, but no. Just, no.
  6. definitely will sort itself out as we play Omaha four times in the second half.
  7. The thing about those games were they were exhibitions and didn't mean anything. We lose one of these games to UAH and that hurts our PWR, big time. Bubbs will have the boys ready to go. They get it. This team sure has had a special first half.
  8. From Twitter 9-8-16 25-27-18 29-10-14 19-22-11 20-2 4-6 28-3 33 30 I'm a little surprised to see Wolanin out in favor of Shaw, but I don't mind. I like Shaw's game. Does this say something about UND wanting to keep UMD's forwards at bay or that Shaw outworked Wolanin this week?
  9. I'll be bold and pick sweep. I just really like how we've played, of late. Last weekend will show the boys that if they give the kind of sustained effort they did for 120 minutes against DU, they have the ability to be really, really special. I think this keeps the motivation level high. 5-2 with an ENG Brock, Cag, LaDue, Chyz, and Simo
  10. Definitely agree with that. After this weekend, regardless if we do stumble at some point of the year, which I'm sure we will, UND will be able to look back at the Denver series and know that when they are at their best, they can beat anyone. It's not just the talent, it's the effort. The compete level was through the roof for 120 minutes this past weekend. Couple that with a really tremendous group of talent, it'd be silly for anyone to think we aren't the cream of the crop, or AT MINIMUM, right near the top.
  11. I'll agree with this, but does it have anything to do with the talent we have on the current sqaud? I'm not fully convinced it's a Barry vs. Hak system kind of thing, I feel like it's a talent thing. I don't seem to remember the DOT line, the Pony Express or even the likes of Nelson, Kristo and Knight dumping the puck in very much. Seems like these guys all created plays into the zone because they had that ability. We haven't had this kind of talent in a forward group over the last handful of years, but when we have in the past, I feel like it has looked a lot like the play UND has brought this year.
  12. Bring it on, Dawgs. Gotta keep it rolling after a HUGE weekend. http://daddydumpandchase.blogspot.com/2015/12/roses-and-thorns-pulverizing-pios.html
  13. Is this real? Are you freaking kidding me?
  14. Raise your glasses, kick some a$$es... First verse first was.... eff the (insert team we played that weekend), eff the (team), eff the (team), in the a$$. Raise your glasses, kick some a$$es, eff the (team) in the a$$. That's how I remember it.
  15. I just dont know if it can stop them? All three of them just have incredible chemistry and are always a step ahead of the defense. Big hits that will draw space only give these three room to move. They all have ability to create space.
  16. Is there a team out there that is working as hard AND has our talent? I haven't seen it.
  17. I thought about that, too, but it's not just our skill that's winning, it's effort. Top to bottom, all zones. This team has bought in. Skill can wane from game to game, but if we bring it like we did this weekend, our skill will continue to roll teams. It's one thing to be better then a team, it's a whole different to outwork them. We're getting both. This team, man. Pretty special, right now.
  18. If I stole it, I apologize. Not intended!
  19. I never saw the Hrkac Circus play, but it really is a different game, these days. Please don't anyone mistake this for belittling their numbers, but it really is a different game. I feel like their skills are definitely similar. I think the CBS line is on par with the DOT. Kind of a fun parallel. First rounder that is a play-making center but has a knack for scoring (Toews and Schmaltz), another first rounder, this one that's a big-bodied, goal scoring threat (Osh and Boeser) and an undrafted Hobey Baker candidate who has a nice shot and a nose for goal scoring (Duncs and Cag). As for who's better... I think we'll see. Watching both play, I think the CBS line might be more dominant at this point in the season, but the DOT line did it all year. Lastly, it's not a matter if this line can win one, it's simply if they will. The talent is clearly there to lead us to the promised land.
  20. Excellent point about all three holding place on the PP. Idk if I ever seen puck possession on a PP like these three get. In my opinion, Schmaltz is the best player on the ice whenever he's on the ice and that includes his line. His vision is truly special. Always in the right spot and sees plays way before anyone else does. He's the best passer I've ever seen at the college level. And for the bolded part -- ABSOLUTELY. This line is really, really special. Get ya popcorn ready, right siouxstudent?
  21. He's got a good shot, great creativity and plays defense/backchecks like a banshee. Dude definitely has a shot to get a pro deal at the NHL level. At minimum, he'll be in the A.
  22. Regardless, your point is still valid. Like I said, pretty much what I expected from the crowd, tonight. Completely understandable, in my opinion.
  23. He's been a completely different player this year. Elite.
  24. I swear I heard University of North Dakota scoring, not Fighting Hawks. Am I wrong? Looker said "Fighting Hawks at full strength" after every kill and that definitely brought the boos. Not sure how I feel about it, but I certainly get it. First game at home with the new name. Pretty much what I expected. I feel like it'll taper off by year's end. Especially if we are playing like we did tonight. Won't matter what we are called. We play defense, special teams and score like we did tonight, the rest of the year, this will be a special run. Awesome stuff.
